| أَنْفُسِكُم | anfusikum | أَنْزِلَ | anzila | أَقْرَبِينَ | aqrabeena | أَنْفَقْتُمْ | anfaqtum | أَنَّ | anna |
| أَصْنَامٌ | aSnaman | أَظْلَمُ | athlamu | أَيْمَـٰنَكُمْ | aymanakum | أَوْ | aw | فَأَتُو | faatoo |
| أَم كُنْتُمْ | am kuntum | أَيُّ | ayyu | إِبْرَاهِيمَ | ibraheema | إِكْرَاهَ | ikraha | وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَ | waith akhathna |
| إِثْمًا | ithman | إِلَّا | illa | إِن كُنتُمْ | in kuntum | إِلَـٰهَكَ | ilahaka | إِلَهَ | ilaha |
| وَإِن كُنتُمْ | wain kuntum | إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ | ismaaaeela | إِسْحَـٰقَ | ishaqa | إِذْ حَضَرَ | ith haDara | إِلَيْهِ | ilayhi |

Translation:Your Lord has enjoined the following: 1. You should not worship anyone but Him. 2. Treat your parents with great consideration; if either or both of them live with you in their old age, do not say even "fie" to them: nor rebuke them, but speak kind words to them; |

Translation:Fie upon you and the deities you worship instead of Allah! What! have you got no sense at all?" |

Translation:But the one who said to his parents, "Fie upon you! what, do you frighten me with this that I shall be taken out of the grave after death? whereas many a generation has passed away before me (and none has risen from among them). The mother and father cry for Allah's help and say, "Believe, O wretch! Allah's promise is true." But he says, "These are nothing but tales of the ancient times." |
