Allah has sealed up their hearts and ears and a covering has fallen over their eyes, and they have incurred the severest punishment.

Translit: khatama Allahu AAala quloobihim wa AAala samAAihim wa AAala absaarihim ghishawatun wa lahum AAathaabun AAatheemun

Translation:

Recall the time when We delivered you from the slavery of Pharaohs people. They had inflicted a dreadful torment on you: they killed your sons and let your daughters live. And in this there was a hard trial for you from your your Lord.

Then We raised you to life so that you might become grateful for this favour.71

Remember that when Moses prayed for water for his people, We answered, "Strike the rock with your staff" : whereupon twelve springs gushed forth from it; the people of every clan came to know their drinking place. Translation:

But inspite of this, you are killing your brethren and driving them out from their homes and making unjust and aggressive alliances against one another. And when they come to you as captives, you trade on their ransoms whereas their expulsion itself was unlawful for you. Do you then believe in one part of the Scriptures and disbelieve in the other?92 What other punishment do such people from among you deserve except an ignominious life in this world and the most grievous doom on the Day of Resurrection? Allah is not unaware of what you are doing.

Translit: Thumma antum haolai taqtuloona anfusakum watukhrijoona fareeqan minkum min diyarihim tathaharoona AAalayhim bialithmi waalAAudwani wain yatookum osara tufadoohum wahuwa muharramun AAalaykum ikhrajuhum afatuminoona bibaAAdi alkitabi watakfuroona bibaAAdin fama jazao man yafAAalu thalika minkum illa khizyun fee alhayati alddunya wayawma alqiyamati yuraddoona ila ashaddi alAAathabi wama Allahu bighafilin AAamma taAAmaloona

Translation:

These are the people who have preferred the worldly life to the life in the Hereafter. Therefore their torment shall not be lightened nor shall help be given to them (from any quarter).

Translit: Olaika allatheena ishtarawoo alhayata alddunya bialakhirati fala yukhaffafu AAanhumu alAAathabu wala hum yunsaroona

Translation:

What a mean thing it is with which they delude their minds. They reject the Guidance which Allah has sent down merely because of their grudge why Allah has in His bounty sent it to whom He chose from amongst His servants. They have thus incurred wrath after wrath, and for such disbelievers there is a disgraceful doom.

Translit: Bisama ishtaraw bihi anfusahum an yakfuroo bima anzala Allahu baghyan an yunazzila Allahu min fadlihi AAala man yashao min AAibadihi fabaoo bighadabin AAala ghadabin walilkafireena AAathabun muheenun

Translation:

You will find that, of all mankind, they are the greediest for life, nay, they are even greedier than the mushriks. Each one of them longs to have a life Of a thousand years, but a long life can, by no means, remove them away from the scourge, for Allah is watching whatever they are doing.

Translit: Walatajidannahum ahrasa alnnasi AAala hayatin wamina allatheena ashrakoo yawaddu ahaduhum law yuAAammaru alfa sanatin wama huwa bimuzahzihihi mina alAAathabi an yuAAammara waAllahu baseerun bima yaAAmaloona

O Believers, do not say. "Ra ina" but say, "Unzurna " and listen a to what is said; for the disbelievers deserve a painful punishment.

Translation:

The people who have rejected the message of Truth, be they the people of the Book or the mushriks, would never like that any good be sent down to you from your Lord, but Allah chooses for His mercy whom He wills, and Allah is Most Bountiful.

Translit: Ma yawaddu allatheena kafaroo min ahli alkitabi wala almushrikeena an yunazzala AAalaykum min khayrin min rabbikum waAllahu yakhtassu birahmatihi man yashao waAllahu thoo alfadli alAAatheemi

Translation:

And who could be a greater wrongdoer than the one who forbids the mention of Allahs name in places of worship and strives for their ruin? Such people do not deserve to enter the places of worship, and, if they enter at all, they should do so in fear;114 for there is ignominy for them in this world and an awful punishment in the Hereafter.

Translit: Waman athlamu mimman manaAAa masajida Allahi an yuthkara feeha ismuhu wasaAAa fee kharabiha olaika ma kana lahum an yadkhulooha illa khaifeena lahum fee alddunya khizyun walahum fee alakhirati AAathabun AAatheemun

Translation:

And remember that Abraham prayed, "Lord, make this city a city of peace and security, and provide with every kind of fruit those of its people, who believe in Allah and the Last Day. Allah answered, "As for the disbelievers, I will also provide them with the necessities of life in this world,127 though in the Next World I will drag them to the torment of Hell, and that is the worst abode."

Translit: Waith qala ibraheemu rabbi ijAAal hatha baladan aminan waorzuq ahlahu mina alththamarati man amana minhum biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri qala waman kafara faomattiAAuhu qaleelan thumma adtarruhu ila AAathabi alnnari wabisa almaseeru

Lord, raise up from among them a Messenger who shall recite Your Revelations to them and teach them the Book and Wisdom and purify their lives. You are All-Powerful and All-Wise".

they shall remain accursed for ever. Their punishment shall not be lightened, nor shall they be reprieved.

Translation:

(In spite of such clear signs of the Oneness of Allah), there are people who set up equals and rivals with Allah and adore them with the adoration due to Allah, whereas the Believers adore Allah most ardently. Would that these transgressors could realize now what they will realize, when they will see the chastisement before them that power and authority wholly belong to Allah and that Allah is severe in punishment!

Translit: Wamina alnnasi man yattakhithu min dooni Allahi andadan yuhibboonahum kahubbi Allahi waallatheena amanoo ashaddu hubban lillahi walaw yara allatheena thalamoo ith yarawna alAAathaba anna alquwwata lillahi jameeAAan waanna Allaha shadeedu alAAathabi

Translation:

When He will inflict punishment, those very leaders and guides whom they followed in the world will disown them. But punishment they shall get and all their bonds shall be cut off.

Translit: Ith tabarraa allatheena ittubiAAoo mina allatheena ittabaAAoo waraawoo alAAathaba wataqattaAAat bihimu alasbabu

Translation:

Indeed those, who conceal the Commands that Allah has sent down in His Book and barter them away for paltry worldly gains, fill their bellies with fire. Allah will not speak to them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He regard them as pure; "a there is a painful torment for them.

Translit: Inna allatheena yaktumoona ma anzala Allahu mina alkitabi wayashtaroona bihi thamanan qaleelan olaika ma yakuloona fee butoonihim illa alnnara wala yukallimuhumu Allahu yawma alqiyamati wala yuzakkeehim walahum AAathabun aleemun

They are the people who have bartered away Guidance for error and Allahs pardon for His punishment. How audacious they are: they are ready even to endure the fire of Hell.

Translit: Olaika allatheena ishtarawoo alddalalata bialhuda waalAAathaba bialmaghfirati fama asbarahum AAala alnnari

Translation:

O Believers, the lawn176 of retribution has been prescribed for you in cases of murder; if a free man commits a murder, the free man shall he punished for it and a slave for a slave : likewise if a woman is guilty of murder the same shall he accountable for it.177 But in case the injured brother178 is willing to show leniency to the murderer, the blood money should he decided in accordance with the common law179 and the murderer should pay it in a genuine way. This is an allowance and mercy from your Lord. Now there shall be a painful torment for anyone who transgresses the limits after this. O men of understanding.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo kutiba AAalaykumu alqisasu fee alqatla alhurru bialhurri waalAAabdu bialAAabdi waalontha bialontha faman AAufiya lahu min akheehi shayon faittibaAAun bialmaAAroofi waadaon ilayhi biihsanin thalika takhfeefun min rabbikum warahmatun famani iAAtada baAAda thalika falahu AAathabun aleemun

Then there are others who say, "Our Lord, give us what is good in this world and also what is good in the Hereafter and save us from the torment of Fire."

Translation:

Ask the children of Israel how many a clear sign We have shown to them: (also ask them) what a severe chastisement Allah inflicts on the community that, after receiving Allahs favour exchanges it (for wretchdness).

Translit: Sal banee israeela kam ataynahum min ayatin bayyinatin waman yubaddil niAAmata Allahi min baAAdi ma jaathu fainna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqabi

Translation:

In the beginning all the people followed the same way. (Afterwards there came a change and differences arose). Then Allah sent Prophets to give good tidings to those who followed the Right Way and warnings to those who swerved from it. And He sent down with them the Book based on the Truth so that it should judge between the people concerning their differences. (Differences arose not because people were not given the knowledge of the Truth in the beginning, nay), differences arose between those very people who had been given clear teachings, and (for no other reasons than that) they wanted to tyrannize over one another.230 So Allah, by His leave, guided those who believed in the Prophets to the Truth about which they had differed; Allah guides whomever He pleases to the Right Way.

Translit: Kana alnnasu ommatan wahidatan fabaAAatha Allahu alnnabiyyeena mubashshireena wamunthireena waanzala maAAahumu alkitaba bialhaqqi liyahkuma bayna alnnasi feema ikhtalafoo feehi wama ikhtalafa feehi illa allatheena ootoohu min baAAdi ma jaathumu albayyinatu baghyan baynahum fahada Allahu allatheena amanoo lima ikhtalafoo feehi mina alhaqqi biithnihi waAllahu yahdee man yashao ila siratin mustaqeemin

Translation:

When you have divorced your wives absolutely and they have completed their prescribed term, then you should not prevent them from marrying their prospective husbands, if they mutually agree to marry each other in a lawful way. You are enjoined not to commit such an offence,if you sincerely believe in Allah and the Last Day. It is most decent and pure for you to desist from this; Allah knows and you do not know.

Translit: Waitha tallaqtumu alnnisaa fabalaghna ajalahunna fala taAAduloohunna an yankihna azwajahunna itha taradaw baynahum bialmaAAroofi thalika yooAAathu bihi man kana minkum yuminu biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri thalikum azka lakum waatharu waAllahu yaAAlamu waantum la taAAlamoona

Translation:

Have you also reflected upon the matter concerning the chiefs of the Israelites after (the death of) Moses? They said to their Prophet, "Appoint a king for us so that we may fight in the way of Allah." The Prophet asked them, "Might it be that you will not fight, if fighting is prescribed for you?" They replied, "How can it be that we would refuse to fight in the way of Allah when we have been turned out of our homes and separated from our children?" But (in spite of this assurance) when they were enjoined to fight, they all, except a few of them, turned their backs. And Allah knows each and everyone of these transgressors.

Translit: Alam tara ila almalai min banee israeela min baAAdi moosa ith qaloo linabiyyin lahumu ibAAath lana malikan nuqatil fee sabeeli Allahi qala hal AAasaytum in kutiba AAalaykumu alqitalu alla tuqatiloo qaloo wama lana alla nuqatila fee sabeeli Allahi waqad okhrijna min diyarina waabnaina falamma kutiba AAalayhimu alqitalu tawallaw illa qaleelan minhum waAllahu AAaleemun bialththalimeena

Translation:

Their Prophet said to them, "Allah has appointed Saul to be king over you." Hearing this, they replied, "How has he been entitled to become king over us? We have a better right to kingship than he, for he does not even possess enough riches." The Prophet replied, "Allah has preferred him to you and blessed him with abundant powers of mind and body. And Allah has the power to give His kingdom to whomever He wills: Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing."

Translit: Waqala lahum nabiyyuhum inna Allaha qad baAAatha lakum taloota malikan qaloo anna yakoonu lahu almulku AAalayna wanahnu ahaqqu bialmulki minhu walam yuta saAAatan mina almali qala inna Allaha istafahu AAalaykum wazadahu bastatan fee alAAilmi waaljismi waAllahu yutee mulkahu man yashao waAllahu wasiAAun AAaleemun

Translation:

Of these Messengers (whom We sent for the guidance of mankind), We raised some above the others in rank. Among them was one with whom Allah Himself had direct talks. There were others whom He raised high in rank in other ways. Likewise We gave clear signs to Jesus, son of Mary, and supported him with the Holy Spirit. Had Allah so willed the people who had seen clear signs would not have fought against one another after the Prophets. But (it was not Allahs will to prevent people forcibly from differences: so) they disagreed; then some of them accepted the Truth and others rejected it. If Allah had so willed they would have never fought against one another, but Allah does whatever He pleases (to fulfill His designs.)

Translit: tilka alrrusulu faddalna baAAdahum AAala baAAdin minhum man kallama Allahu wa rafaAAa baAAdahum darajatin wa atayna AAeesa ibna maryama albayyinati wa ayyadnahu biroohi alqudusi wa law shaa Allahu ma iqtatala allatheena min baAAdihim min baAAdi ma jaathumu albayyinatu wa lakini ikhtalafoo faminhum man amana wa minhum man kafara wa law shaa Allahu ma iqtataloo wa lakinna Allaha yafAAalu ma yureedu

Translation:

Allah: the Everlasting, the Sustainer of the whole Universe; there is no god but He. He does neither slumber nor sleep. Whatsoever is in the heavens and in the earth is His.280 Who is there that can intercede with Him except by His own permission.? He knows what is before the people and also what is hidden from them. And they cannot comprehend anything of His knowledge save whatever He Himself pleases to reveal. His Kingdom spreads over the heavens and the earth and the guarding of these does not weary Him. He alone is the Supreme and the Exalted.

Translit: Allahu laA ilaha illa huwa alhayyu alqayyoomu la takhuthuhu sinatun wa laA nawmun lahu ma fee alssamawati wa maA fee alardi man tha allathee yashfaAAu AAindahu illa biithnihi yaAAlamu ma bayna aydeehim wa maA khalfahum wa laA yuheetoona bishayin min AAilmihi illa bima shaa wasiAAa kursiyyuhu alssamawati waalarda wa laA yaooduhu hifthuhuma wa huwa alAAaliyyu alAAatheemu

Or take the case of the one who passed by a township that had fallen down upon its roofs. He exclaimed, "How shall Allah bring back to life this township that has become dead?" At this Allah caused him to die and he lay dead for a hundred years. Then Allah brought him back to life and asked him, "How long have you lain here?" He answered. "I might have lain here for a day or a few hours." Allah said, "Nay, you have been lying here in this state for a hundred years: now, just have a look at your food and your drink; they have not become spoiled in the least. Then have a look at your ass, (and see that his very bones have become rotten) and We have done this in order to make you a Sign for the people. Look, how We raise up the skeleton and set the bones (of the ass) and cover them with flesh and (put breath of life into them)." And when the Reality became manifest to him, he said, "I know

Translit: Aw kaallathee marra AAala qaryatin wahiya khawiyatun AAala AAurooshiha qala anna yuhyee hathihi Allahu baAAda mawtiha faamatahu Allahu miata AAamin thumma baAAathahu qala kam labithta qala labithtu yawman aw baAAda yawmin qala bal labithta miata AAamin faonthur ila taAAamika washarabika lam yatasannah waonthur ila himarika walinajAAalaka ayatan lilnnasi waonthur ila alAAithami kayfa nunshizuha thumma naksooha lahman falamma tabayyana lahu qala aAAlamu anna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

Translation:

O Believers, do not spoil your charity by taunts and injury to the recipients like the one who practises charity to be seen by men, while he neither believes in Allah nor in the Last Day. His charity may be likened to the rainfall on a rock which had only a thin layer of soil upon it. When heavy rain fell on it, the whole of the soil washed away and the rock was left bare Such people do not gain the reward they imagine they have earned by their seeming charity; Allah does not show the Right Way to the ungrateful.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tubtiloo sadaqatikum bialmanni waalatha kaallathee yunfiqu malahu riaa alnnasi wala yuminu biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri famathaluhu kamathali safwanin AAalayhi turabun faasabahu wabilun fatarakahu saldan la yaqdiroona AAala shayin mimma kasaboo waAllahu la yahdee alqawma alkafireena

Translation:

To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. Allah will call you to account for what is in your minds whether you disclose it or hide it. He, however, had full authority to pardon or punish anyone He pleases, for Allah has complete power over everything.

Translit: Lillahi ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi wain tubdoo ma fee anfusikum aw tukhfoohu yuhasibkum bihi Allahu fayaghfiru liman yashao wayuAAaththibu man yashao waAllahu AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

for the guidance of mankind, and He has sent down the Criterion (of right and wrong). Now there shall be a severe punishment for those who reject the Commandments of Allah: for Allah is Almighty, Avenger of wickedness.

Translit: Min qablu hudan lilnnasi waanzala alfurqana inna allatheena kafaroo biayati Allahi lahum AAathabun shadeedun waAllahu AAazeezun thoo intiqamin

These are the people, who say, "Lord, we have believed sincerely; forgive us our sins and save us from the fire of Hell."

Give the good tidings of a painful chastisement to those who reject Allahs .Revelations and slay His Prophets unjustly and are deadly against those who rise up from among the people to enjoin right and justice.

Translit: Inna allatheena yakfuroona biayati Allahi wayaqtuloona alnnabiyyeena bighayri haqqin wayaqtuloona allatheena yamuroona bialqisti mina alnnasi fabashshirhum biAAathabin aleemin

Translation:

Afterwards when she delivered her child, she said, "Lord, I have delivered a girl" --- and Allah knew very well what she had delivered --- "and the male is not (handicapped) like the female. As it is, I have named her Mary, and I implore Thy protection for her and for her future offspring from the mischief of Satan, the Accursed."

Translit: Falamma wadaAAatha qalat rabbi innee wadaAAtuha ontha waAllahu aAAlamu bima wadaAAat walaysa alththakaru kaalontha wainnee sammaytuha maryama wainnee oAAeethuha bika wathurriyyataha mina alshshaytani alrrajeemi

Translation:

and punish with a grievous punishment, both in this world and in the Hereafter, those who have adopted the attitude of disbelief and rejection and they shall have none to help them.

Translit: Faamma allatheena kafaroo faoAAaththibuhum AAathaban shadeedan fee alddunya waalakhirati wama lahum min nasireena

He chooses for His favour whom He wills and His grace is boundless.

As for those who barter away their Covenant with Allah and their own oaths for a paltry profit; they shall have no share in the Hereafter; Allah will not speak to them nor even look at them nor cleanse them of sins on the Day of Resurrectien. There is, on the other hand, a painful punishment in store for them.

Translit: Inna allatheena yashtaroona biAAahdi Allahi waaymanihim thamanan qaleelan olaika la khalaqa lahum fee alakhirati wala yukallimuhumu Allahu wala yanthuru ilayhim yawma alqiyamati wala yuzakkeehim walahum AAathabun aleemun

They shall remain under it for ever; neither will their punishment be lightened nor shall they be reprieved.

Translit: Khalideena feeha la yukhaffafu AAanhumu alAAathabu wala hum yuntharoona

Translation:

Believe it that if anyone of those who adopted disbelief and died as a disbeliever were to fill the whole earth with gold and offer it as ransom for redemption, that will not be accepted. There is a painful punishment in store for such people and they will not find any helpers.

Translit: Inna allatheena kafaroo wamatoo wahum kuffarun falan yuqbala min ahadihim milo alardi thahaban walawi iftada bihi olaika lahum AAathabun aleemun wama lahum min nasireena

Translation:

And do not be like those, who became divided into sects and got involved in differences of opinion even after receiving clear teachings. Those (who have caused divisions), shall suffer a terrible punishment on the Day,

Translit: Wala takoonoo kaallatheena tafarraqoo waikhtalafoo min baAAdi ma jaahumu albayyinatu waolaika lahum AAathabun AAatheemun

Translation:

when the faces (of some) will be brightened with joy and those of others shall be blackened with gloom. (It will be said to those,) whose faces shall be blackened, "Did you adopt the way of disbelief after receiving Faith? Well, then taste the torment for showing gross ingratitude towards it."

Translit: Yawma tabyaddu wujoohun wataswaddu wujoohun faamma allatheena iswaddat wujoohuhum akafartum baAAda eemanikum fathooqoo alAAathaba bima kuntum takfuroona

(O Prophet,) you have no authority to decide the affair: Allah alone has the authority to pardon them or punish them for they are workers of iniquity.

Translit: Laysa laka mina alamri shayon aw yatooba AAalayhim aw yuAAaththibahum fainnahum thalimoona

Allah is the Owner of whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth: He may forgive whomever He pleases and punish whomever He wills; Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

Translation:

Recall how you were fleeing in such a panic that you did not even look back at one another, and the Messenger in your rear was calling nut to you. Consequently, Allah inflicted upon you one sorrow after the other so that you may learn this lesson for the that you should not grieve for what you have lost and for any misfortune that might befall you: Allah is fully aware of all that you are doing.

Translit: Ith tusAAidoona wala talwoona AAala ahadin waalrrasoolu yadAAookum fee okhrakum faathabakum ghamman bighammin likayla tahzanoo AAala ma fatakum wala ma asabakum waAllahu khabeerun bima taAAmaloona

Translation:

As a matter of fact, it is the great favour of Allah to the Believers that He has raised up in their midst from among themselves a Messenger who recites to them His Revelations, purifies their lives and teaches them the Book and Wisdom, though before this these very people had been in manifest error.

Translit: Laqad manna Allahu AAala almumineena ith baAAatha feehim rasoolan min anfusihim yatloo AAalayhim ayatihi wayuzakkeehim wayuAAallimuhumu alkitaba waalhikmata wain kanoo min qablu lafee dalalin mubeenin

As for those, who responded to the call of Allah and His Messenger even after receiving the injury there will be a great reward for such of those who do righteous works and refrain from evil and

Translit: Allatheena istajaboo lillahi waalrrasooli min baAAdi ma asabahumu alqarhu lillatheena ahsanoo minhum waittaqaw ajrun AAatheemun

Translation:

Ultimately they returned home with the blessing and grace of Allah; they did not suffer any harm at all. Besides this, they had the, honour of following what pleased Allah, and Allahs bounty is infinite.

Translation:

(O Messenger,) let not the mischievous activities of those, who are striving today in the way of unbelief, grieve you; they can do absolutely no harm to Allah: thus Allah intends that they should not have any share in the Hereafter, and there is a very severe punishment in store for them.

Translit: Wala yahzunka allatheena yusariAAoona fee alkufri innahum lan yadurroo Allaha shayan yureedu Allahu alla yajAAala lahum haththan fee alakhirati walahum AAathabun AAatheemun

Translation:

Those, who are bartering away faith for unbelief, are surely doing no harm to Allah: a grievous torment awaits them.

Translit: Inna allatheena ishtarawoo alkufra bialeemani lan yadurroo Allaha shayan walahum AAathabun aleemun

Translation:

Let not the disbelievers think that the respite We are giving them is good for themselves; as a matter of fact, We are giving them respite so that they might gather a heavy burden of sins for themselves; then there shall be disgraceful punishment for them.

Translit: Wala yahsabanna allatheena kafaroo annama numlee lahum khayrun lianfusihim innama numlee lahum liyazdadoo ithman walahum AAathabun muheenun

Translation:

Allah will not leave the Believers in the state in which you happened to be at present: He will surely separate the pure from the impure people but Allah will not do this by disclosing the unseen to you. As for disclosing the unseen, He chooses those of His Messengers He pleases; therefore put your faith in Allah and His Messenger (regarding the unseen) for there shall be a big reward for you, if you follow the way of faith in Allah and fear Him.

Translit: Ma kana Allahu liyathara almumineena AAala ma antum AAalayhi hatta yameeza alkhabeetha mina alttayyibi wama kana Allahu liyutliAAakum AAala alghaybi walakinna Allaha yajtabee min rusulihi man yashao faaminoo biAllahi warusulihi wain tuminoo watattaqoo falakum ajrun AAatheemun

Translation:

Allah has heard the saying of those who said; "Allah is poor and we are rich." We will record this (in their Conduct Book) along with their previous record of unjust killing of their Prophets. And (on the Day of Judgment), We will say to them, "Now taste the torment of the burning Fire.

Translit: Laqad samiAAa Allahu qawla allatheena qaloo inna Allaha faqeerun wanahnu aghniyaon sanaktubu ma qaloo waqatlahumu alanbiyaa bighayri haqqin wanaqoolu thooqoo AAathaba alhareeqi

Translation:

Do not think that those, who exult in their misdeeds and who love to be praised even for deeds they have not actually performed, shall escape chastisement; the fact is that a grievous chastisement awaits them;

Translit: La tahsabanna allatheena yafrahoona bima ataw wayuhibboona an yuhmadoo bima lam yafAAaloo fala tahsabannahum bimafazatin mina alAAathabi walahum AAathabun aleemun

Translation:

who standing and sitting and lying down remember Allah and reflect upon the (wonders) of the structure of the earth and the heavens. (Then they cry out spontaneously,) "Our Lord, Thou, hast not created all this in vain, for Thou art free from doing such a thing. So save us from the torment of the Hell-fire

Translit: Allatheena yathkuroona Allaha qiyaman waquAAoodan waAAala junoobihim wayatafakkaroona fee khalqi alssamawati waalardi rabbana ma khalaqta hatha batilan subhanaka faqina AAathaba alnnari

Translation:

These are the limits prescribed by Allah: whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, He will admit him into the Gardens underneath which canals flow, wherein he will abide for ever; this is the great success.

Translit: Tilka hudoodu Allahi waman yutiAAi Allaha warasoolahu yudkhilhu jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha wathalika alfawzu alAAatheemu

Translation:

And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger and transgresses the limits prescribed by Him, Allah will cast him into the Fire wherein he shall abide for ever, and shall have a disgraceful chastisement.25a

Translit: Waman yaAAsi Allaha warasoolahu wayataAAadda hudoodahu yudkhilhu naran khalidan feeha walahu AAathabun muheenun

Translation:

And punish the two of you who commit this crime; then if they both repent and reform themselves, leave them alone,for Allah is generous in accepting repentance, and merciful in forgiving sins.

Translit: Waallathani yatiyaniha minkum faathoohuma fain taba waaslaha faaAAridoo AAanhuma inna Allaha kana tawwaban raheeman

Translation:

But there is no repentance for those people who persist in their evil deeds until the dying hour comes to anyone of them; then he says, "Now I repent." Nor is repentance for them who die as unbelievers; for such people, We have prepared a painful torment.

Translit: Walaysati alttawbatu lillatheena yaAAmaloona alssayyiati hatta itha hadara ahadahumu almawtu qala innee tubtu alana wala allatheena yamootoona wahum kuffarun olaika aAAtadna lahum AAathaban aleeman

Translation:

Whoever cannot afford to marry free Muslim women, should marry one of the Muslim slave-girls in your possession; Allah has full knowledge of your Faith. You all belong to one and the same community; therefore, you may marry them with the permission of their guardians and give them their fair dowries so that they may live a decent life in wedlock and not in licentiousness nor may have secret illicit relations. Then if they are guilty of indecency, after they have been fortified by wedlock, they shall be given half the punishment prescribed for free women. This concession has been made for those of you who might apprehend a moral lapse without marriage, but it is better for you to practice self-restraint, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Translit: Waman lam yastatiAA minkum tawlan an yankiha almuhsanati almuminati famin ma malakat aymanukum min fatayatikumu almuminati waAllahu aAAlamu bieemanikum baAAdukum min baAAdin fainkihoohunna biithni ahlihinna waatoohunna ojoorahunna bialmaAAroofi muhsanatin ghayra masafihatin wala muttakhithati akhdanin faitha ohsinna fain atayna bifahishatin faAAalayhinna nisfu ma AAala almuhsanati mina alAAathabi thalika liman khashiya alAAanata minkum waan tasbiroo khayrun lakum waAllahu ghafoorun raheemun

Yes. Allah desires to turn to you mercifully, but those who follow their lusts, want that you should swerve far away from the right path.

Translit: WaAllahu yureedu an yatooba AAalaykum wayureedu allatheena yattabiAAoona alshshahawati an tameeloo maylan AAatheeman

Translation:

And if you fear a breach between spouses, appoint one arbiter from the relatives of the husband and one from the relatives of the wife. If the two sides sincerely desire to set things right, Allah will create a way of reconciliation between them, for surely Allah knows everything and is aware of everything.

Translit: Wain khiftum shiqaqa baynihima faibAAathoo hakaman min ahlihi wahakaman min ahliha in yureeda islahan yuwaffiqi Allahu baynahuma inna Allaha kana AAaleeman khabeeran

Translation:

and are niggardly and bid others to be niggardly, and conceal the bounty of Allah that He has bestowed upon them; We have prepared a disgraceful chastisement for such ungrateful wretches.

Translit: Allatheena yabkhaloona wayamuroona alnnasa bialbukhli wayaktumoona ma atahumu Allahu min fadlihi waaAAtadna lilkafireena AAathaban muheenan

Translation:

Indeed Allah does not wrong anyone even by a jot: if one does a good deed, He doubles it, and then from Himself bestows a rich reward.

Translit: Inna Allaha la yathlimu mithqala tharratin wain taku hasanatan yudaAAifha wayuti min ladunhu ajran AAatheeman

Translation:

Shirk is the only sin that Allah does not forgive,79 and He forgives whomsoever He pleases, other sins than this, for whosoever associates any other partner with Allah, does indeed forge a big lie and commit the most heinous sin.

Translit: Inna Allaha la yaghfiru an yushraka bihi wayaghfiru ma doona thalika liman yashao waman yushrik biAllahi faqadi iftara ithman AAatheeman

Translation:

Or, are they jealous of others, because Allah has blessed them with His bounty? If so, let them know that We did bestow the Book and the Wisdom upon the descendants of Abraham and blessed them with the great kingdom.

Translit: Am yahsudoona alnnasa AAala ma atahumu Allahu min fadlihi faqad atayna ala ibraheema alkitaba waalhikmata waataynahum mulkan AAatheeman

Translation:

Surely We will throw into the Fire those who have rejected Our Revelations; as often as their skins shall be consumed, We will replace them by other skins so that they may taste the torment in full, for Allah is All-Powerful and All-Wise to enforce His decrees.

Translit: Inna allatheena kafaroo biayatina sawfa nusleehim naran kullama nadijat julooduhum baddalnahum juloodan ghayraha liyathooqoo alAAathaba inna Allaha kana AAazeezan hakeeman

Translation:

(As for them), only a few of them would have acted upon it, if We had enjoined them, "Kill yourselves," or "Leave your homes". It would have been better for them and it would have made them firm. (in their Faith), if they had done what they were commanded to do,

Translit: Walaw anna katabna AAalayhim ani oqtuloo anfusakum awi okhrujoo min diyarikum ma faAAaloohu illa qaleelun minhum walaw annahum faAAaloo ma yooAAathoona bihi lakana khayran lahum waashadda tathbeetan

for We would have given them a great reward from Ourselves

And if you are blessed with grace from Allah, they say, as though there never had been any friendly relations between you and them "We wish we had also accompanied them and thus would have gained our end."

Translit: Walain asabakum fadlun mina Allahi layaqoolanna kaan lam takun baynakum wabaynahu mawaddatun ya laytanee kuntu maAAahum faafooza fawzan AAatheeman

Translation:

(Let such people understand that) those alone, who barter away this worldly life for that of the Hereafter, should fight in the way of Allah; then We will bestow a great reward upon him who fights in the way of Allah whether he be slain or be victorious.

Translit: Falyuqatil fee sabeeli Allahi allatheena yashroona alhayata alddunya bialakhirati waman yuqatil fee sabeeli Allahi fayuqtal aw yaghlib fasawfa nuteehi ajran AAatheeman

Translation:

As regards the one who kills a Believer willfully, his recompense is Hell, wherein he shall live for ever. He has incurred Allahs wrath and His curse is on him, and Allah has prepared a woeful torment for him.

Translit: Waman yaqtul muminan mutaAAammidan fajazaohu jahannamu khalidan feeha waghadiba Allahu AAalayhi walaAAanahu waaAAadda lahu AAathaban AAatheeman

Translation:

Those people from among the Muslims who stay at home without any genuine excuse are not equal in rank with those who exert their utmost with their lives and wealth for the cause of Allah. For Allah has assigned a higher rank to those who exert their utmost with their lives and wealth than those who stay at home. Though Allah has promised a good reward for all, he has a far richer reward for those who fight for Him than for those who stay at home:

Translit: La yastawee alqaAAidoona mina almumineena ghayru olee alddarari waalmujahidoona fee sabeeli Allahi biamwalihim waanfusihim faddala Allahu almujahideena biamwalihim waanfusihim AAala alqaAAideena darajatan wakullan waAAada Allahu alhusna wafaddala Allahu almujahideena AAala alqaAAideena ajran AAatheeman

Translation:

O Prophet, had not Allahs grace been with you, and had not His .mercy safeguarded you from their mischief, a party from among them had decided to involve you in misunderstanding though they were involving no one but themselves in misunderstanding and could have done you no harm. Allah has sent down the Book and the Wisdom to you and taught what you did not know; great indeed is His bounty to you.

Translit: Walawla fadlu Allahi AAalayka warahmatuhu lahammat taifatun minhum an yudillooka wama yudilloona illa anfusahum wama yadurroonaka min shayin waanzala Allahu AAalayka alkitaba waalhikmata waAAallamaka ma lam takun taAAlamu wakana fadlu Allahi AAalayka AAatheeman

Translation:

There is nothing good in most of the secret counsels of the people: it is, however, a good thing if one secretly enjoins charity or righteousness or says something in order to set aright the affairs of the people; We will give a great reward to him who does so to please Allah.

Translit: La khayra fee katheerin min najwahum illa man amara bisadaqatin aw maAAroofin aw islahin bayna alnnasi waman yafAAal thalika ibtighaa mardati Allahi fasawfa nuteehi ajran AAatheeman

And give the good tidings of a painful torment to the hypocrites

Translit: Bashshiri almunafiqeena bianna lahum AAathaban aleeman

Translation:

As regards those of them, who repent and mend them ways and then hold fast to Allah and dedicate their religion sincerely to Allah, such people are with the Believers, and Allah will most surely bestow a great reward on the Believers.

Translit: Illa allatheena taboo waaslahoo waiAAtasamoo biAllahi waakhlasoo deenahum lillahi faolaika maAAa almumineena wasawfa yuti Allahu almumineena ajran AAatheeman

Translation:

And why should Allah punish you, if you are grateful and behave like true Believers? For Allah fully appreciates worth and knows everything about everyone.

Translit: Ma yafAAalu Allahu biAAathabikum in shakartum waamantum wakana Allahu shakiran AAaleeman

Translation:

All those are confirmed disbelievers, and We have prepared an ignominious punishment for such disbelievers.

Translit: Olaika humu alkafiroona haqqan waaAAtadna lilkafireena AAathaban muheenan

Translation:

If the people of the Book are today asking you to cause a Book to come down upon them from heaven, they have already made even more monstrous demands from Moses. They said to him, "Make us see Allah with our own eyes." As a result of their wickedness, a thunder-bolt smote them all of a sudden. Then they took the calf as the object of their worship, after they had seen clear signs: but even after this, We forgave them. We bestowed upon Moses a clear Commandment

Translit: Yasaluka ahlu alkitabi an tunazzila AAalayhim kitaban mina alssamai faqad saaloo moosa akbara min thalika faqaloo arina Allaha jahratan faakhathathumu alssaAAiqatu bithulmihim thumma ittakhathoo alAAijla min baAAdi ma jaathumu albayyinatu faAAafawna AAan thalika waatayna moosa sultanan mubeenan

Then they went so far in their unbelief that they uttered a monstrous calumny against Mary:

Translit: Wabikufrihim waqawlihim AAala maryama buhtanan AAatheeman

Translation:

and because they take interest, which had been prohibited, and because they devour unlawfully the property of others it is because of all these transgressions that We made unlawful many clean and pure things which were formerly lawful for them. We have prepared a painful torment for those among them who disbelieve,

Translit: Waakhthihimu alrriba waqad nuhoo AAanhu waaklihim amwala alnnasi bialbatili waaAAtadna lilkafireena minhum AAathaban aleeman

Translation:

but most surely We will reward richly all those among them who have profound learning and who are honest and who believe in what has been sent down to you, and what was sent down before you,203 and who establish the Salat, pay the Zakat dues and believe sincerely in Allah and the Last Day.

Translit: Lakini alrrasikhoona fee alAAilmi minhum waalmuminoona yuminoona bima onzila ilayka wama onzila min qablika waalmuqeemeena alssalata waalmutoona alzzakata waalmuminoona biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri olaika sanuteehim ajran AAatheeman

Translation:

Then He will give full reward to those who believed and did good deeds and out of His bounty bestow upon them even more than their dues; but He will inflict a painful chastisement on those who have disdained His service and prided themselves on it. And there they will find none of those on whom they rely to be their protectors and helpers beside Allah.

Translit: Faamma allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati fayuwaffeehim ojoorahum wayazeeduhum min fadlihi waamma allatheena istankafoo waistakbaroo fayuAAaththibuhum AAathaban aleeman wala yajidoona lahum min dooni Allahi waliyyan wala naseeran

Allah has promised that He will pardon the errors of those who believe and do good deeds, and will give them a rich reward.

Translit: WaAAada Allahu allatheena aamanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lahum maghfiratun waajrun AAatheemun

Translation:

Allah had bound the Israelites by a solemn covenant, and appointed twelve supervisors31 from among them and said, "I am with you; if you establish the Salat, pay the Zakat and believe in My Messengers,32 and support them and give a generous loan to Allah,33 I shall surely wipe out your evils from you,34 and admit you into gardens under which canals flow, But after this whoever from among you adopted the way of disbelief, has indeed gone astray from the Right Way."35

Translit: Walaqad akhatha Allahu meethaqa banee israeela wabaAAathna minhumu ithnay AAashara naqeeban waqala Allahu innee maAAakum lain aqamtumu alssalata waataytumu alzzakata waamantum birusulee waAAazzartumoohum waaqradtumu Allaha qardan hasanan laokaffiranna AAankum sayyiatikum walaodkhilannakum jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu faman kafara baAAda thalika minkum faqad dalla sawaa alssabeeli

Translation:

The Jews and the Christians say, "We are the sons of Allah and His beloved ones." Ask them, "Why then does He punish you for your sins? In fact, you are also human beings like the other human beings He has created. He forgives whomever He wills and punishes whomever He wills. To Allah belongs the Kingdom of the earth and the heavens, and all that is in it and all shall return to Him."

Translit: Waqalati alyahoodu waalnnasara nahnu abnao Allahi waahibbaohu qul falima yuAAaththibukum bithunoobikum bal antum basharun mimman khalaqa yaghfiru liman yashao wayuAAaththibu man yashao walillahi mulku alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma wailayhi almaseeru

Translation:

Then Allah sent a raven which began to scratch the ground to show him how he might hide the corpse of his brother. Seeing this, he cried, "Woe be to me! I have not been able to do even as this raven has done and so devise a plan of hiding the corpse of my brother." After this he became very remorseful of what he had done.

Translit: FabaAAatha Allahu ghuraban yabhathu fee alardi liyuriyahu kayfa yuwaree sawata akheehi qala ya waylata aAAajaztu an akoona mithla hatha alghurabi faowariya sawata akhee faasbaha mina alnnadimeena

Translation:

The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and run about to spread mischief in the land is this; they should be put to death or crucified or their alternate hands and feet should be cut off, or they should be banished from the land. This is the disgrace and ignominy for them in this world and there is in store for them a harsher torment in the Hereafter,

Translit: Innama jazao allatheena yuhariboona Allaha warasoolahu wayasAAawna fee alardi fasadan an yuqattaloo aw yusallaboo aw tuqattaAAa aydeehim waarjuluhum min khilafin aw yunfaw mina alardi thalika lahum khizyun fee alddunya walahum fee alakhirati AAathabun AAatheemun

Translation:

Note it well that those, who have adopted the way of disbelief, shall not escape retribution, for even if they possessed all the wealth of the earth and the like of it with it and offered it as ransom to redeem themselves from the torment of the Day of Resurrection, that will not be accepted from them and they shall receive a painful punishment.

Translit: Inna allatheena kafaroo law anna lahum ma fee alardi jameeAAan wamithlahu maAAahu liyaftadoo bihi min AAathabi yawmi alqiyamati ma tuqubbila minhum walahum AAathabun aleemun

They will wish to get out of the fire of Hell but shall not be able to come forth from it and theirs shall be an everlasting torment.

Translit: Yureedoona an yakhrujoo mina alnnari wama hum bikharijeena minha walahum AAathabun muqeemun

Do you not know that Allah is the Sovereign of the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth? He may punish whom He wills and may pardon whom He wills; He has power over everything.

Translit: Alam taAAlam anna Allaha lahu mulku alssamawati waalardi yuAAaththibu man yashao wayaghfiru liman yashao waAllahu AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

Translation:

Most certainly they committed blasphemy, who said, "God is one of the three": whereas there is no deity other than the One Deity. And if these people do not desist from uttering such words, a painful chastisement shall be inflicted on all those from among them who have been guilty of blasphemy.

Translit: Laqad kafara allatheena qaloo inna Allaha thalithu thalathatin wama min ilahin illa ilahun wahidun wain lam yantahoo AAamma yaqooloona layamassanna allatheena kafaroo minhum AAathabun aleemun

Translation:

Today you see many of them who take the side of the disbelievers (against the Believers). Indeed it is an evil end to which their souls have prompted them: for they have incurred the wrath of Allah and they are going to suffer eternal torment.

Translit: Tara katheeran minhum yatawallawna allatheena kafaroo labisa ma qaddamat lahum anfusuhum an sakhita Allahu AAalayhim wafee alAAathabi hum khalidoona

Translation:

And, for these words of theirs, Allah rewarded them with the Gardens underneath which canals flow, wherein they will live for ever. This is the reward of the righteous people.

Translit: Faathabahumu Allahu bima qaloo jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha wathalika jazao almuhsineena

Translation:

O Believers, Allah will put you to a hard trial by that game which will come within the very reach of your hands or lances, in order to see who fears Him even though He is invisible: there shall, therefore, be a painful punishment for those who transgress the limits after this warning.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo layabluwannakumu Allahu bishayin mina alssaydi tanaluhu aydeekum warimahukum liyaAAlama Allahu man yakhafuhu bialghaybi famani iAAtada baAAda thalika falahu AAathabun aleemun

Allah answered, "I am going to send it down to you, but whoever among you shall disbelieve after that, I will surely give him such a chastisement wherewith I will not have chastised any other creature in the world."

Translit: Qala Allahu innee munazziluha AAalaykum faman yakfur baAAdu minkum fainnee oAAaththibuhu AAathaban la oAAaththibuhu ahadan mina alAAalameena

Now, if You punish them, they are your own servants, and if You forgive them, You are All-powerful and All Wise."

Translit: In tuAAaththibhum fainnahum AAibaduka wain taghfir lahum fainnaka anta alAAazeezu alhakeemu

Then Allah will declare, "This is the Day when the truthfulness of the truthful benefits them; there are such Gardens for them underneath which canals flow; they will dwell therein for ever. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him; this is the Greatest success."

Translit: Qala Allahu hatha yawmu yanfaAAu alssadiqeena sidquhum lahum jannatun tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha abadan radiya Allahu AAanhum waradoo AAanhu thalika alfawzu alAAatheemu

Say, "I do fear the torment of a (dreadful) Day, if I should disobey my Lord."

Translit: Qul innee akhafu in AAasaytu rabbee AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin

Translation:

Would that you could witness the scene, when they will be brought before their Lord: then their Lord will ask them, "Is this not the Reality?" They will say, "Yes, our Lord, this is the Reality." Then He will declare, "Well, taste the torment for denying this Reality."

Translit: Walaw tara ith wuqifoo AAala rabbihim qala alaysa hatha bialhaqqi qaloo bala warabbina qala fathooqoo alAAathaba bima kuntum takfuroona

Translation:

Losers indeed are those who consider it a lie that they will ever have a meeting with Allah. When the Hour overtakes them unawares, they will exclaim, "Alas! how negligent we have been of this matter!" and they will be carrying the burdens of their sins on their backs: behold, how heavy is the burden they are carrying!

Translit: Qad khasira allatheena kaththaboo biliqai Allahi hatta itha jaathumu alssaAAatu baghtatan qaloo ya hasratana AAala ma farratna feeha wahum yahmiloona awzarahum AAala thuhoorihim ala saa ma yaziroona

Translation:

Only those, who listen to it, accept the Message; as for the dead, Allah will raise them from the graves only and they shall be brought back (to be produced in His Court).

Translit: Innama yastajeebu allatheena yasmaAAoona waalmawta yabAAathuhumu Allahu thumma ilayhi yurjaAAoona

Translation:

Ask them to consider deeply and answer, "When some great misfortune befalls you, or the last hour approaches you, do you invoke any other than Allah? Answer, if you be in the right."

Translit: Qul araaytakum in atakum AAathabu Allahi aw atatkumu alssaAAatu aghayra Allahi tadAAoona in kuntum sadiqeena

Translation:

Say, "Have you also ever considered this: If the scourge of Allah comes upon you suddenly or openly, shall any but the transgressors be destroyed?

Translit: Qul araaytakum in atakum AAathabu Allahi baghtatan aw jahratan hal yuhlaku illa alqawmu alththalimoona

and those who treat Our Revelations as false, shall have to suffer punishment in consequence of their evil deeds.

Translit: Waallatheena kaththaboo biayatina yamassuhumu alAAathabu bima kanoo yafsuqoona

Translation:

It is He Who recalls your souls at night and knows what you do during the day; then next day He returns you to your usual work to complete the fixed term of your life. At long last, you shall all return to Him and He will let you know what you had been doing.

Translit: Wahuwa allathee yatawaffakum biallayli wayaAAlamu ma jarahtum bialnnahari thumma yabAAathukum feehi liyuqda ajalun musamman thumma ilayhi marjiAAukum thumma yunabbiokum bima kuntum taAAmaloona

Translation:

Say, "He has the power to bring a scourge on you from above you or from beneath your feet or to split you into discordant factions to make you taste the violence of one another. " Behold! how We present Our Signs over and over again in different ways before them so that they should understand the Reality.

Translit: Qul huwa alqadiru AAala an yabAAatha AAalaykum AAathaban min fawqikum aw min tahti arjulikum aw yalbisakum shiyaAAan wayutheeqa baAAdakum basa baAAdin onthur kayfa nusarrifu alayati laAAallahum yafqahoona

Translation:

And leave alone those who have taken their faith as a sport and pastime and have been deluded by the life of this world; nevertheless, go on admonishing them by reciting the Quran to them lest any person should be seized because of his own deeds, and that too at the time, when there would be no protector, no helper and no intercessor to rescue him from Allah, and when no conceivable amount of ransom would be accepted from him; this is because such people shall be seized in consequence of what they themselves had earned; they shall get boiling water to drink and a painful torment to suffer for their rejection of the Truth.

Translit: Wathari allatheena ittakhathoo deenahum laAAiban walahwan wagharrathumu alhayatu alddunya wathakkir bihi an tubsala nafsun bima kasabat laysa laha min dooni Allahi waliyyun wala shafeeAAun wain taAAdil kulla AAadlin la yukhath minha olaika allatheena obsiloo bima kasaboo lahum sharabun min hameemin waAAathabun aleemun bima kanoo yakfuroona

Translation:

And who could be more wicked than the one who invents a falsehood about Allah or says, "A Revelation has come to me," whereas no Revelation has come to him, or says, "I will also send down the like of what God has sent down?" Would that you could see these wicked people, when they are in the agonies of death, and the angels are out-stretching their hands and saying, "Come, yield up your soul; today you shall be awarded a disgraceful torment for the false things you attributed to Allah and for the rebellion you showed against His Revelations."

Translit: Waman athlamu mimmani iftara AAala Allahi kathiban aw qala oohiya ilayya walam yooha ilayhi shayon waman qala saonzilu mithla ma anzala Allahu walaw tara ithi alththalimoona fee ghamarati almawti waalmalaikatu basitoo aydeehim akhrijoo anfusakumu alyawma tujzawna AAathaba alhooni bima kuntum taqooloona AAala Allahi ghayra alhaqqi wakuntum AAan ayatihi tastakbiroona

Translation:

They declare with solemn oaths by Allah that if a Sign (i.e. a miracle) comes before them, they will believe in it (your Prophethood). O Muhammad, tell them, "Allah alone can show Signs." And what will make you (O Muhammad) realize that, even if the Signs come, they would not believe?

Translit: Waaqsamoo biAllahi jahda aymanihim lain jaathum ayatun layuminunna biha qul innama alayatu AAinda Allahi wama yushAAirukum annaha itha jaat la yuminoona

Translation:

When a Revelation comes before them, they say, "We will not believe in it unless we are given the like of what has been given to the Messengers of Allah." Allah knows best whom to entrust with His Mission and how to get it conducted. - Near is the time when these criminals shall meet with disgrace and a grievous torment from Allah for the evil schemes they were devising.

Translit: Waitha jaathum ayatun qaloo lan numina hatta nuta mithla ma ootiya rusulu Allahi Allahu aAAlamu haythu yajAAalu risalatahu sayuseebu allatheena ajramoo sagharun AAinda Allahi waAAathabun shadeedun bima kanoo yamkuroona

Translation:

And We prohibited to those people, who had adopted Judaism, all animals with claws and the fat of oxen and goats except what is on their backs or their entrails or what sticks to their bones; this was the punishment We had inflicted on them for their rebellion. And We are telling the truth.

Translit: WaAAala allatheena hadoo harramna kulla thee thufurin wamina albaqari waalghanami harramna AAalayhim shuhoomahuma illa ma hamalat thuhooruhuma awi alhawaya aw ma ikhtalata biAAathmin thalika jazaynahum bibaghyihim wainna lasadiqoona

Translation:

"If the Book had been sent down to us, we would have proved ourselves more righteous than they." Now that a clear proof and Guidance and Blessing, has come to you from your Lord, who can be more unjust than the one who treats Our Revelations as false and turns away from them? We will inflict the severest torment on those who turn away from Our Signs because of their aversion.

Translit: Aw taqooloo law anna onzila AAalayna alkitabu lakunna ahda minhum faqad jaakum bayyinatun min rabbikum wahudan warahmatun faman athlamu mimman kaththaba biayati Allahi wasadafa AAanha sanajzee allatheena yasdifoona AAan ayatina sooa alAAathabi bima kanoo yasdifoona

Translation:

Satan requested, "Give me respite till the Day when they shall all be raised from the dead."

Translit: Qala anthirnee ila yawmi yubAAathoona

Translation:

Then who can be more wicked than the one who invents falsehoods about Allah and then attributes these to Him or than the one who treats the true Revelations of Allah as false? Such people will go on receiving their destined shares till that hour comes when the angels, appointed by Us, will arrive to capture their souls. Then the angels will ask them, "Where are those now whom you worshiped instead of Allah ?" They will answer "All of them have forsaken us." And they will give evidence against themselves that they had indeed denied the truth.

Translit: Faman athlamu mimmani iftara AAala Allahi kathiban aw kaththaba biayatihi olaika yanaluhum naseebuhum mina alkitabi hatta itha jaathum rusuluna yatawaffawnahum qaloo ayna ma kuntum tadAAoona min dooni Allahi qaloo dalloo AAanna washahidoo AAala anfusihim annahum kanoo kafireena

Translation:

Allah will say, "Go into Hell, where those who went before you from among jinns and men have gone. " As each generation will be entering Hell it will curse its preceding generation till all generations shall be gathered there: then each succeeding generation will say regarding the preceding one, "O Lord, these were the people who led us astray; therefore give them double chastisement of the Fire." Allah will reply, "There is a double chastisement for every one but you know it not."

Translit: Qala odkhuloo fee omamin qad khalat min qablikum mina aljinni waalinsi fee alnnari kullama dakhalat ommatun laAAanat okhtaha hatta itha iddarakoo feeha jameeAAan qalat okhrahum lioolahum rabbana haolai adalloona faatihim AAathaban diAAfan mina alnnari qala likullin diAAfun walakin la taAAlamoona

Translation:

And the preceding generation will say to the succeeding, "(If we were to blame) you, too, were no better than we. Now taste the torture for what you earned."

Translit: Waqalat oolahum liokhrahum fama kana lakum AAalayna min fadlin fathooqoo alAAathaba bima kuntum taksiboona

Translation:

Then the inmates of Paradise will call out to the inmates of Hell, "We have found all the promises made to us by our Lord to be true: have you, too, found the promises trade to you by your Lord to be true?" They will say, "Yes". Then a herald in their midst will announce: "The curse of Allah be upon those evil-doers

Translit: Wanada ashabu aljannati ashaba alnnari an qad wajadna ma waAAadana rabbuna haqqan fahal wajadtum ma waAAada rabbukum haqqan qaloo naAAam faaththana muaththinun baynahum an laAAnatu Allahi AAala alththalimeena

Translation:

We sent Noah to his people;47 he said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than He.48 I fear lest the chastisement befall you on a dreadful day."

Translit: Laqad arsalna noohan ila qawmihi faqala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu innee akhafu AAalaykum AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin

Translation:

And to Thamud, We sent their brother Salih. He said, "O my people, worship Allah for you have no other deity save Him. A clear proof has come to you from your Lord: here is Allahs she-camel, a sign for you, so let her graze at will in Allahs land; do not touch her with any evil intention, lest a woeful scourge from your Lord seize you.

Translit: Waila thamooda akhahum salihan qala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu qad jaatkum bayyinatun min rabbikum hathihi naqatu Allahi lakum ayatan fatharooha takul fee ardi Allahi wala tamassooha bisooin fayakhuthakum AAathabun aleemun

Translation:

And remember the time when Allah made you successors of `Ad and established you in the land with dignity and enabled you to make castles on the plains and hew out houses in the hills. So do not be neglectful of the manifestations of Allahs powers, and do not spread disorder on the earth."

Translit: Waothkuroo ith jaAAalakum khulafaa min baAAdi AAadin wabawwaakum fee alardi tattakhithoona min suhooliha qusooran watanhitoona aljibala buyootan faothkuroo alaa Allahi wala taAAthaw fee alardi mufsideena

Translation:

These people whose stories We recount to you (can serve as examples to you). Their Messengers came to them with clear Signs, but they would not believe in what they had once denied. Behold, this is how We seal the hearts of the disbelievers.

Translit: Tilka alqura naqussu AAalayka min anbaiha walaqad jaathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati fama kanoo liyuminoo bima kaththaboo min qablu kathalika yatbaAAu Allahu AAala quloobi alkafireena

Translation:

Then after the (above mentioned) communities, We sent Moses with Our Signs to Pharaoh and the chiefs of his nation,83 but they also treated Our Signs unjustly.84 Then behold, what happened in the end to the mischief-makers.

Translit: Thumma baAAathna min baAAdihim moosa biayatina ila firAAawna wamalaihi fathalamoo biha faonuthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu almufsideena

Translation:

He intends to drive you out of your land; now what do you propose to do?"

Translit: Yureedu an yukhrijakum min ardikum famatha tamuroona

Translation:

Moses answered, "You should throw down first". When they threw down their devices, they bewitched the eyes of the people and terrified their hearts: for they had, indeed, produced a great magic.

Translit: Qala alqoo falamma alqaw saharoo aAAyuna alnnasi waistarhaboohum wajaoo bisihrin AAatheemin

Translation:

But they responded like this: whenever a good time came; they would say, "This is but our due" and when there was a hard time, they would ascribe their calamities to Moses and those with him. Whereas, in fact, their misfortune was in the hand of Allah; but most of them did not know this.

Translit: Faitha jaathumu alhasanatu qaloo lana hathihi wain tusibhum sayyiatun yattayyaroo bimoosa waman maAAahu ala innama tairuhum AAinda Allahi walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona

Translation:

And (Allah says), "Recall the time when We rescued you from the people of Pharaoh, who afflicted you with a dreadful torment; they slew your sons and let your women live and in this was a great trial for you from your Lord!"

Translit: Waith anjaynakum min ali firAAawna yasoomoonakum sooa alAAathabi yuqattiloona abnaakum wayastahyoona nisaakum wafee thalikum balaon min rabbikum AAatheemun

Translation:

And ordain for us what is good in this world as well as in the world to come; we have turned to Thee". He replied, "As to punishment, I inflict it on anyone I will, but My mercy embraces everything. So I will prescribe it for those who will refrain from disobedience, pay the Zakat, and believe in My Revelations."

Translit: Waoktub lana fee hathihi alddunya hasanatan wafee alakhirati inna hudna ilayka qala AAathabee oseebu bihi man ashao warahmatee wasiAAat kulla shayin fasaaktubuha lillatheena yattaqoona wayutoona alzzakata waallatheena hum biayatina yuminoona

Translation:

Also remind them that when some people from among them asked the others the answer that was given by some of them, "Why do you admonish those people whom Allah is about to destroy or punish severely?" they replied, "We admonish them in order to be able to offer an excuse before your Lord and we also hope that they might refrain from disobedience to Him."

Translit: Waith qalat ommatun minhum lima taAAithoona qawman Allahu muhlikuhum aw muAAaththibuhum AAathaban shadeedan qaloo maAAthiratan ila rabbikum walaAAallahum yattaqoona

Translation:

However, when they totally forgot the teachings they were reminded of, We saved those who used to forbid evil, and seized with a severe scourge all others who were transgressors, because of the acts of disobedience they did.

Translit: Falamma nasoo ma thukkiroo bihi anjayna allatheena yanhawna AAani alssooi waakhathna allatheena thalamoo biAAathabin baeesin bima kanoo yafsuqoona

Translation:

And recall the time when your Lord declared, "I will set over the Israelites over and over again up to the Day of Resurrection, people who should inflict upon them the severest torment." Your Lord, indeed, is swift in retribution, and He is indeed also Forgiving and Merciful.

Translit: Waith taaththana rabbuka layabAAathanna AAalayhim ila yawmi alqiyamati man yasoomuhum sooa alAAathabi inna rabbaka lasareeAAu alAAiqabi wainnahu laghafoorun raheemun

Translation:

If We had willed We would have exalted him by means of those revelations, but he clung on to the earth and followed his own lusts. Therefore he began to behave like a dog: it lolls out its tongue if you chase it away and it lolls out its tongue if you leave it alone. Such is the likeness of those who treat Our Revelations as false.

Translit: Walaw shina larafaAAnahu biha walakinnahu akhlada ila alardi waittabaAAa hawahu famathaluhu kamathali alkalbi in tahmil AAalayhi yalhath aw tatrukhu yalhath thalika mathalu alqawmi allatheena kaththaboo biayatina faoqsusi alqasasa laAAallahum yatafakkaroona

Translation:

This is the punishment for you: so taste it now: you should also know that there is the torture of Hell for those who deny the Truth.

Translit: Thalikum fathooqoohu waanna lilkafireena AAathaba alnnari

Translation:

And know that your worldly goods and your children are, in fact, a test for you, and Allah has plenty for giving you reward.

Translit: WaiAAlamoo annama amwalukum waawladukum fitnatun waanna Allaha AAindahu ajrun AAatheemun

Translation:

O Believers, if you are God fearing, He will provide you with a criterion, and cleanse you of your evils, and forgive your shortcomings. Allah is bountiful in His favors.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo in tattaqoo Allaha yajAAal lakum furqanan wayukaffir AAankum sayyiatikum wayaghfir lakum waAllahu thoo alfadli alAAatheemi

Translation:

And recall also to mind the thing they said, "If it is the Truth and has been sent down by Thee, rain down stones on us from the heavens or send down any other painful torment on us."

Translit: Waith qaloo allahumma in kana hatha huwa alhaqqa min AAindika faamtir AAalayna hijaratan mina alssamai awi itina biAAathabin aleemin

Translation:

At that time Allah would not send down any torment on them for you dwelt in their midst: nor does Allah chastise people while they are asking His forgiveness.

Translit: Wama kana Allahu liyuAAaththibahum waanta feehim wama kana Allahu muAAaththibahum wahum yastaghfiroona

Translation:

But now there is no reason why He should not send torment on them, when they are barring the way to the Masjid-i-Haram whereas they are not its lawful guardians. Indeed the God fearing people alone can be its lawful guardians, but most of the people do not know this thing:

Translit: Wama lahum alla yuAAaththibahumu Allahu wahum yasuddoona AAani almasjidi alharami wama kanoo awliyaahu in awliyaohu illa almuttaqoona walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona

Translation:

And what is their "prayer" near the House of Allah ?: it is nothing but whistling and clapping of hands. So now take the chastisement and taste the torment in requital for your persistent denial of the Truth.

Translit: Wama kana salatuhum AAinda albayti illa mukaan watasdiyatan fathooqoo alAAathaba bima kuntum takfuroona

Translation:

Would that you could see how it was when the angels were seizing the souls of the slain disbelievers! They were striking on their faces and hips and saying, "Now taste the torment of burning;

Translit: Walaw tara ith yatawaffa allatheena kafaroo almalaikatu yadriboona wujoohahum waadbarahum wathooqoo AAathaba alhareeqi

Translation:

Had there not been a decree that had already been given by Allah, you would have incurred a severe chastisement in consequence of what you have taken.

Translit: Lawla kitabun mina Allahi sabaqa lamassakum feema akhathtum AAathabun AAatheemun

Translation:

This is a public proclamation from Allah and His Messenger for all the people on the Day of Great Haj: Allah is free from the treaty obligations made with the mushriks and so is His Messenger. If, therefore, you repent now, it is better for you but if you turn away, you should know it well that you cannot frustrate (the Will of) Allah. And, O Prophet, give the good news of a painful chastisement to the rejecters

Translit: Waathanun mina Allahi warasoolihi ila alnnasi yawma alhajji alakbari anna Allaha bareeon mina almushrikeena warasooluhu fain tubtum fahuwa khayrun lakum wain tawallaytum faiAAlamoo annakum ghayru muAAjizee Allahi wabashshiri allatheena kafaroo biAAathabin aleemin

Translation:

Fight them. Allah will chastise them by your hands and will bring disgrace and degradation upon them and succor you against them and soothe the hearts of many believers.

Translit: Qatiloohum yuAAaththibhumu Allahu biaydeekum wayukhzihim wayansurkum AAalayhim wayashfi sudoora qawmin mumineena

Translation:

Those alone who have believed, and left their homes and exerted their utmost with their lives and possessions in the Way of Allah, shall have the highest ranks with Allah: they are truly successful.

Translit: Allatheena amanoo wahajaroo wajahadoo fee sabeeli Allahi biamwalihim waanfusihim aAAthamu darajatan AAinda Allahi waolaika humu alfaizoona

Translation:

therein they shall abide for ever, for surely Allah has abundance to give rewards for services.

Translit: Khalideena feeha abadan inna Allaha AAindahu ajrun AAatheemun

Translation:

Then Allah sent down His sakinat (peace and tranquility) upon His Messenger and the Believers and sent (to your aid) forces which you could not see and chastised those who denied the Truth: for this is the due recompense of those who deny the Truth.

Translit: Thumma anzala Allahu sakeenatahu AAala rasoolihi waAAala almumineena waanzala junoodan lam tarawha waAAaththaba allatheena kafaroo wathalika jazao alkafireena

Translation:

O Believers, indeed most of the scholars and monks of the people of the Book devour the wealth of others by evil means, and debar them from the Way of Allah. Give them the good news of a painful torment, who hoard up gold and silver and expend not these in the Way of Allah.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo inna katheeran mina alahbari waalrruhbani layakuloona amwala alnnasi bialbatili wayasuddoona AAan sabeeli Allahi waallatheena yaknizoona alththahaba waalfiddata wala yunfiqoonaha fee sabeeli Allahi fabashshirhum biAAathabin aleemin

Translation:

If you will not march forth, Allah will inflict on you a painful chastisement, and will substitute other people for you, and you will in no way harm Him, for Allah has power over everything.

Translit: Illa tanfiroo yuAAaththibkum AAathaban aleeman wayastabdil qawman ghayrakum wala tadurroohu shayan waAllahu AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

Translation:

If they had really intended to march forth, they would surely have made some preparation for it. But Allah was averse to their going forth; and He caused them to hold back, and it was said to them, "Stay behind with those who stay behind."

Translit: Walaw aradoo alkhurooja laaAAaddoo lahu AAuddatan walakin kariha Allahu inbiAAathahum fathabbatahum waqeela oqAAudoo maAAa alqaAAideena

Translation:

Say to them, "What can be the thing you await for us other than one of the two .best things? But what we await for you is whether Allah Himself inflicts His chastisement on you or at our hands; well, now await, and we, too await with you."

Translit: Qul hal tarabbasoona bina illa ihda alhusnayayni wanahnu natarabbasu bikum an yuseebakumu Allahu biAAathabin min AAindihi aw biaydeena fatarabbasoo inna maAAakum mutarabbisoona

Translation:

So let not their great wealth and the large number of their children delude you; for Allah wills to chastise them by means of these very things in this worldly life and that they would die in a state of unbelief.

Translit: Fala tuAAjibka amwaluhum wala awladuhum innama yureedu Allahu liyuAAaththibahum biha fee alhayati alddunya watazhaqa anfusuhum wahum kafiroona

Translation:

There are some among them who injure the Prophet and say, "This man readily believes whatever he hears.â€ Say, "It is good for you that he is so:70 He believes in Allah and puts his trust in the believers and is a blessing for those who are true believers among you. As regards those who injure the Messenger of Allah, there is a painful chastisement for them."

Translit: Waminhumu allatheena yuthoona alnnabiyya wayaqooloona huwa othunun qul othunu khayrin lakum yuminu biAllahi wayuminu lilmumineena warahmatun lillatheena amanoo minkum waallatheena yuthoona rasoola Allahi lahum AAathabun aleemun

Translation:

Do they not know that whoso opposes Allah and His Messenger shall have the Fire of Hell for him wherein he shall abide for ever? This is a great ignominy.

Translit: Alam yaAAlamoo annahu man yuhadidi Allaha warasoolahu faanna lahu nara jahannama khalidan feeha thalika alkhizyu alAAatheemu

Translation:

Do not invent excuses now; you have indeed denied the truth after you had professed belief in it. Even if We pardon some of you, We will surely chastise others of you, for they are the guilty ones"

Translit: La taAAtathiroo qad kafartum baAAda eemanikum in naAAfu AAan taifatin minkum nuAAaththib taifatan biannahum kanoo mujrimeena

Translation:

Allah has promised the hypocrites, both men and women, as well as the disbelievers the fire of Hell, wherein they shall abide for ever: that is the proper place for them; for the curse of Allah is upon them and theirs is the lasting torment.-

Translit: WaAAada Allahu almunafiqeena waalmunafiqati waalkuffara nara jahannama khalideena feeha hiya hasbuhum walaAAanahumu Allahu walahum AAathabun muqeemun

Translation:

Allah has promised to the Believers, both men and women, the Gardens underneath which canals :low and wherein they will abide for ever: there will be neat and clean Swelling places for them in these Gardens of perpetual bliss; and, above all, they will enjoy Allahs pleasure: this is the great success.

Translit: WaAAada Allahu almumineena waalmuminati jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha wamasakina tayyibatan fee jannati AAadnin waridwanun mina Allahi akbaru thalika huwa alfawzu alAAatheemu

Translation:

They swear by Allah that they did not say the thing, when in fact, they did utter the word of unbelief. Thus, they were guilty of unbelief after they had professed Islam: however, they could not accomplish what they had intended to do. They had no reason to be spiteful except that Allah and His Messenger had enriched them by His bounty. If even now they repent of their misbehavior, it will be good for their own selves, but if they do not repent, Allah will chastise them with a painful chastisement in this world and in the Hereafter, and there will be none on the earth to protect and help them.

Translit: Yahlifoona biAllahi ma qaloo walaqad qaloo kalimata alkufri wakafaroo baAAda islamihim wahammoo bima lam yanaloo wama naqamoo illa an aghnahumu Allahu warasooluhu min fadlihi fain yatooboo yaku khayran lahum wain yatawallaw yuAAaththibhumu Allahu AAathaban aleeman fee alddunya waalakhirati wama lahum fee alardi min waliyyin wala naseerin

Translation:

(He fully knows those stingy rich people) who find fault with the monetary sacrifices of those Believers who make willing and voluntary contributions generously and scoff at those people who find nothing to contribute (to the cause of Allah) except what little they contribute sacrificing their own needs:87 Allah scoffs at those who scoff and there is a painful punishment in store for them.

Translit: Allatheena yalmizoona almuttawwiAAeena mina almumineena fee alssadaqati waallatheena la yajidoona illa juhdahum fayaskharoona minhum sakhira Allahu minhum walahum AAathabun aleemun

Translation:

And let not the abundance of their possessions and children delude you; for Allah wills only to chastise them by means of their possessions and children in this world and let their souls depart while they are still disbelievers.

Translit: Wala tuAAjibka amwaluhum waawladuhum innama yureedu Allahu an yuAAaththibahum biha fee alddunya watazhaqa anfusuhum wahum kafiroona

Translation:

Allah has prepared for them Gardens underneath which canals flow wherein they will abide for ever: this is the great success.

Translit: aAAadda Allahu lahum jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha thalika alfawzu alAAatheemu

Translation:

And many from among the Bedouins90 also came with their excuses that they, too, might be allowed to remain behind: thus stayed behind those who had made a false compact of Faith with Allah and His Messenger. In the near future those from among the Bedouins who adopted the way of unbelief91 shall meet with a painful chastisement.

Translit: Wajaa almuAAaththiroona mina alaAArabi liyuthana lahum waqaAAada allatheena kathaboo Allaha warasoolahu sayuseebu allatheena kafaroo minhum AAathabun aleemun

Translation:

Allah was pleased with those Muhajirs and Ansar who were the first to respond to the invitation to the Faith, and with those also who followed them in their righteous conduct, and they, too, were pleased with (the reward from) Allah; He has got ready for them gardens underneath which canals flow and they will abide therein for ever; this is the greatest success.

Translit: Waalssabiqoona alawwaloona mina almuhajireena waalansari waallatheena ittabaAAoohum biihsanin radiya Allahu AAanhum waradoo AAanhu waaAAadda lahum jannatin tajree tahtaha alanharu khalideena feeha abadan thalika alfawzu alAAatheemu

Translation:

There are many hypocrites among the Bedouins who dwell around you; likewise among the citizens of Al-Madinah there are hypocrites who have become experts in hypocrisy. You do not know them, but We do know them.97 The time is coming when We will give them double chastisement:98 then they shall be returned to a far greater torment.

Translit: Wamimman hawlakum mina alaAArabi munafiqoona wamin ahli almadeenati maradoo AAala alnnifaqi la taAAlamuhum nahnu naAAlamuhum sanuAAaththibuhum marratayni thumma yuraddoona ila AAathabin AAatheemin

Translation:

There are some others who yet await Allahs decision: He may either punish them or turn to them again with mercy: Allah knows everything and is All-Wise.101

Translit: Waakharoona murjawna liamri Allahi imma yuAAaththibuhum waimma yatoobu AAalayhim waAllahu AAaleemun hakeemun

Translation:

Indeed Allah has bought from the Believers their persons and their possessions in return for the Gardens;106 they fight in the Way of Allah, kill and are killed. This promise (of the Gardens) is the true pledge of Allah made in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran, and who is more true in fulfilling his promise than Allah? So rejoice in the bargain you have made with Him; and this is the greatest success.

Translit: Inna Allaha ishtara mina almumineena anfusahum waamwalahum bianna lahumu aljannata yuqatiloona fee sabeeli Allahi fayaqtuloona wayuqtaloona waAAdan AAalayhi haqqan fee alttawrati waalinjeeli waalqurani waman awfa biAAahdihi mina Allahi faistabshiroo bibayAAikumu allathee bayaAAtum bihi wathalika huwa alfawzu alAAatheemu

Translation:

Now if they turn away from you, say to them, O Prophet, "Allah suffices me: there is no god but He: in Him have I put my trust: He is the Lord of the Great Throne."

Translit: Fain tawallaw faqul hasbiya Allahu la ilaha illa huwa AAalayhi tawakkaltu wahuwa rabbu alAAarshi alAAatheemi

Translation:

To Him you shall all return: this is the true and sure promise of Allah. Indeed He originates creation and He will bring it back to life so that He may recompense with perfect justice those who believed and did righteous deeds. As for those who disbelieved, they shall drink boiling water and undergo a painful chastisement for their rejection of the Truth.

Translit: Ilayhi marjiAAukum jameeAAan waAAda Allahi haqqan innahu yabdao alkhalqa thumma yuAAeeduhu liyajziya allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati bialqisti waallatheena kafaroo lahum sharabun min hameemin waAAathabun aleemun bima kanoo yakfuroona

Translation:

O mankind, We destroyed before you those communities (which were in power in their time,) when they adopted the attitude of transgression, for their Messengers came to them with clear signs but they would not believe in them. This is how We recompense the criminals for their crimes.

Translit: Walaqad ahlakna alquroona min qablikum lamma thalamoo wajaathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati wama kanoo liyuminoo kathalika najzee alqawma almujrimeena

Translation:

When Our clear revelations are recited to them, those who do not expect to meet Us say, "Bring another Quran in its stead or make some amendment in it." O Muhammad, say to them, "It is not for me to make any alteration in it of my own accord. I follow only what is revealed to me. Indeed, if I disobey my Lord, I fear the chastisement of a dreadful Day."

Translit: Waitha tutla AAalayhim ayatuna bayyinatin qala allatheena la yarjoona liqaana iti biquranin ghayri hatha aw baddilhu qul ma yakoonu lee an obaddilahu min tilqai nafsee in attabiAAu illa ma yooha ilayya innee akhafu in AAasaytu rabbee AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin

Translation:

It is Allah Who enables you to travel over land and by sea. So you set sails in ships, rejoicing over a fair breeze. Then all of a sudden a strong wind begins to rage against the passengers and billows begin to surge upon them from every side and they realize that they have been encircled by the tempest. At that time they pray to Allah with sincere faith, saying, "If You deliver us from this peril, we will become Your grateful servants."

Translit: Huwa allathee yusayyirukum fee albarri waalbahri hatta itha kuntum fee alfulki wajarayna bihim bireehin tayyibatin wafarihoo biha jaatha reehun AAasifun wajaahumu almawju min kulli makanin wathannoo annahum oheeta bihim daAAawoo Allaha mukhliseena lahu alddeena lain anjaytana min hathihi lanakoonanna mina alshshakireena

Translation:

The same Allah is your true Lord: then, what remains there after the Truth except deviation? Well, whither are you being turned away?"

Translit: Fathalikumu Allahu rabbukumu alhaqqu famatha baAAda alhaqqi illa alddalalu faanna tusrafoona

Translation:

Ask them "Have you ever considered this? (What can you do to avert it,) if His scourge comes upon you suddenly by night or by day ?

Translit: Qul araaytum in atakum AAathabuhu bayatan aw naharan matha yastaAAjilu minhu almujrimoona

Translation:

Then it will be said to the transgressors, "Now taste the everlasting torment; what other recompense than this do you expect to get for what you have been earning?"

Translit: Thumma qeela lillatheena thalamoo thooqoo AAathaba alkhuldi hal tujzawna illa bima kuntum taksiboona

Translation:

And every person who has transgressed would gladly give all the wealth of the earth as ransom, if he possessed it, to redeem himself from the torment. When they will see the torment they will be remorseful in their hearts. And the judgment will be passed on them with justice and no wrong will be done to them.

Translit: Walaw anna likulli nafsin thalamat ma fee alardi laiftadat bihi waasarroo alnnadamata lamma raawoo alAAathaba waqudiya baynahum bialqisti wahum la yuthlamoona

Translation:

there is nothing but good news for them in this world and in the Hereafter: Allah words cannot be changed-this is the greatest success.

Translit: Lahumu albushra fee alhayati alddunya wafee alakhirati la tabdeela likalimati Allahi thalika huwa alfawzu alAAatheemu

Translation:

Well, they may enjoy the transitory pleasures of this life, but after this they have to return to Us and then we will make them taste a severe torment because of this blasphemy they are committing.

Translit: MataAAun fee alddunya thumma ilayna marjiAAuhum thumma nutheequhumu alAAathaba alshshadeeda bima kanoo yakfuroona

Translation:

After Noah We sent different Messengers to their peoples and they came to them with manifest Signs, but they would not believe in what they had disbelieved before. This is how We set a seal on the hearts of the transgressors.

Translit: Thumma baAAathna min baAAdihi rusulan ila qawmihim fajaoohum bialbayyinati fama kanoo liyuminoo bima kaththaboo bihi min qablu kathalika natbaAAu AAala quloobi almuAAtadeena

Translation:

Then after them We sent Moses and Aaron with Our Signs to Pharaoh and his chiefs. But they showed arrogance, for they were criminals.

Translit: Thumma baAAathna min baAAdihim moosa waharoona ila firAAawna wamalaihi biayatina faistakbaroo wakanoo qawman mujrimeena

Translation:

Moses prayed86 and said, "Our Lord, Thou hast bestowed on Pharaoh and his chiefs splendor and possessions88 in the worldly life; our Lord, hast Thou done this that they may lead astray the people from Thy Way ? Lord, destroy their wealth and harden their hearts in a manner so that they may not believe till they see the painful torment."

Translit: Waqala moosa rabbana innaka atayta firAAawna wamalaahu zeenatan waamwalan fee alhayati alddunya rabbana liyudilloo AAan sabeelika rabbana itmis AAala amwalihim waoshdud AAala quloobihim fala yuminoo hatta yarawoo alAAathaba alaleema

Translation:

Whatsoever Signs are shown to those people, they will not believe till they see the painful torment.

Translit: Walaw jaathum kullu ayatin hatta yarawoo alAAathaba alaleema

Translation:

Then, is there any instance of a habitation that, seeing the torment, accepted the faith and that faith profited it? (There is no instance of this) except that of Jonahs people. When they believed, We warded off the torment of ignominy from them in this worldly life and allowed them to make use of the things of life for a while.

Translit: Falawla kanat qaryatun amanat fanafaAAaha eemanuha illa qawma yoonusa lamma amanoo kashafna AAanhum AAathaba alkhizyi fee alhayati alddunya wamattaAAnahum ila heenin

Translation:

And you should ask forgiveness of your Lord: then return to Him and He will provide you with good provisions of life till an appointed term. And He will bestow His favors on everyone who deserves His favors. But if you turn away I am afraid you shall meet with the torment of a dreadful day.

Translit: Waani istaghfiroo rabbakum thumma tooboo ilayhi yumattiAAkum mataAAan hasanan ila ajalin musamman wayuti kulla thee fadlin fadlahu wain tawallaw fainee akhafu AAalaykum AAathaba yawmin kabeerin

Translation:

And if We defer their punishment to some definite and reckoned time, they say, "Well, what is it that is delaying this?" Listen! When the day of that punishment comes, no one shall be able to avert it from them, and that very thing which they are ridiculing shall encircle them on all sides.

Translit: Walain akhkharna AAanhumu alAAathaba ila ommatin maAAdoodatin layaqoolunna ma yahbisuhu ala yawma yateehim laysa masroofan AAanhum wahaqa bihim ma kanoo bihi yastahzioona

Translation:

They were unable to frustrate Allah on the earth, nor had they protectors to defend them against Allah. Now they shall be given double chastisement: for they would neither listen to others nor see the Truth for themselves.

Translit: Olaika lam yakoonoo muAAjizeena fee alardi wama kana lahum min dooni Allahi min awliyaa yudaAAafu lahumu alAAathabu ma kanoo yastateeAAoona alssamAAa wama kanoo yubsiroona

Translation:

not to worship anyone but Allah: otherwise I am afraid that a fearful torment shall visit you one day."

Translit: An la taAAbudoo illa Allaha innee akhafu AAalaykum AAathaba yawmin aleemin

Translit: Fasawfa taAAlamoona man yateehi AAathabun yukhzeehi wayahillu AAalayhi AAathabun muqeemun

It was said, "O Noah, go down: Peace and blessings from Us are on you and on the communities that are with you. But there are other communities, whom We shall give the provisions of life for some time: then a painful torment from Us shall visit them."

Translit: Qeela ya noohu ihbit bisalamin minna wabarakatin AAalayka waAAala omamin mimman maAAaka waomamun sanumattiAAuhum thumma yamassuhum minna AAathabun aleemun

Translation:

And when Our Command came We delivered through Our Mercy Hud and those who had believed with him and rescued them from a woeful scourge.

Translit: Walamma jaa amruna najjayna hoodan waallatheena amanoo maAAahu birahmatin minna wanajjaynahum min AAathabin ghaleethin

Translation:

And O my people, behold: here is Allahs she-camel, a Sign for you. So let her graze at will in Allahs land, and do not touch her with evil intention, lest a scourge should seize you from your Lord in the near future."

Translit: Waya qawmi hathihi naqatu Allahi lakum ayatan fatharooha takul fee ardi Allahi wala tamassooha bisooin fayakhuthakum AAathabun qareebun

So when Abrahams fear was allayed and his heart was filled with joy (because of the good news of a child), he began to dispute with Us concerning the people of Lot,

Translit: Falamma thahaba AAan ibraheema alrrawAAu wajaathu albushra yujadiluna fee qawmi lootin

Translation:

(At last Our angels said to him), "O Abraham, desist from this now that your Lords decree has been issued and the scourge which cannot be averted by anyone shall overtake them."

Translit: Ya ibraheemu aAArid AAan hatha innahu qad jaa amru rabbika wainnahum ateehim AAathabun ghayru mardoodin

Translation:

And to the people of Madian, We sent their brother Shu`aib. He said. "O my people, serve Allah: you have no deity other than He. Do not give short measure and weight. Though I see you now in a state of prosperity, I fear for you the scourge of a day that will encircle you.

Translit: Waila madyana akhahum shuAAayban qala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu wala tanqusoo almikyala waalmeezana innee arakum bikhayrin wainnee akhafu AAalaykum AAathaba yawmin muheetin

Translation:

And, O my people, give full measure and weight justly and do not defraud people of their goods, and do not spread mischief in the land.

Translit: Waya qawmi awfoo almikyala waalmeezana bialqisti wala tabkhasoo alnnasa ashyaahum wala taAAthaw fee alardi mufsideena

Translation:

O my people, you may go on following your way and I will follow my way. You will come to know in the near future who shall be visited by an ignominious scourge and who is the liar; wait if you will and I, too, shall wait with you."

Translit: Waya qawmi iAAmaloo AAala makanatikum innee AAamilun sawfa taAAlamoona man yateehi AAathabun yukhzeehi waman huwa kathibun wairtaqiboo inne maAAakum raqeebun

Translation:

In fact, there is a Sign in this for everyone who dreads the Torment of the Hereafter: that will be the Day when all the people shall gather together and will witness everything that will happen there.

Translit: Inna fee thalika laayatan liman khafa AAathaba alakhirati thalika yawmun majmooAAun lahu alnnasu wathalika yawmun mashhoodun

Translation:

Now the woman in whose house he was began to tempt him, and one day she closed the doors and said, "Come here." Joseph replied, "May Allah protect me from this! My Lord has given me a good abode: (and should I, then, misbehave like this?) Such workers of iniquity never fare well."

Translit: Warawadathu allatee huwa fee baytiha AAan nafsihi waghallaqati alabwaba waqalat hayta laka qala maAAatha Allahi innahu rabbee ahsana mathwaya innahu la yuflihu alththalimoona

Translation:

At last Joseph and she raced towards the door one behind the other and she rent his shirt (pulling it) from behind, and they met her husband at the door. Seeing him, she cried out, "What punishment does the one deserve who shows evil intentions towards your wife? What else than this that he should be put in prison or tortured with painful torment?"

Translit: Waistabaqa albaba waqaddat qameesahu min duburin waalfaya sayyidaha lada albabi qalat ma jazao man arada biahlika sooan illa an yusjana aw AAathabun aleemun

Translation:

When the husband saw that the shirt was rent from the back, he said, "This is one of your cunning devices: your devices are very cunning indeed!

Translit: Falamma raa qameesahu qudda min duburin qala innahu min kaydikunna inna kaydakunna AAatheemun

Translation:

Joseph replied, "God forbid that we should seize any other than the one with whom we have found our property: for, if we do this, we shall be unjust."

Translit: Qala maAAatha Allahi an nakhutha illa man wajadna mataAAana AAindahu inna ithan lathalimoona

Translation:

Do they feel secure that Allahs scourge shall not overwhelm them, or that the hour of Doom will not come upon them suddenly when they are unaware?

Translit: Afaaminoo an tatiyahum ghashiyatun min AAathabi Allahi aw tatiyahumu alssaAAatu baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona

Translation:

There is a torment for them in the life of this world but the torment in the Hereafter is still more painful; and there is none to protect them from Allah.

Translit: Lahum AAathabun fee alhayati alddunya walaAAathabu alakhirati ashaqqu wama lahum mina Allahi min waqin

Translation:

Who is All-Powerful and inherently worthy of All Praise and the Owner of whatever is in the heavens and the earth. And there is a painful torment for those who reject the Truth:

Translit: Allahi allathee lahu ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi wawaylun lilkafireena min AAathabin shadeedin

Translation:

Recall (the time) when Moses said to his people, "Remember Allahs favor on you: He delivered you from Pharaohs people who oppressed you with cruel afflictions: they slaughtered your sons and let your females live. In this there was a hard trial for you from your Lord.

Translit: Waith qala moosa liqawmihi othkuroo niAAmata Allahi AAalaykum ith anjakum min ali firAAawna yasoomoonakum sooa alAAathabi wayuthabbihoona abnaakum wayastahyoona nisaakum wafee thalikum balaon min rabbikum AAatheemun

Translation:

And remember also that your Lord forewarned, `If you be grateful11 I will increase My favors on you, and if you be ungrateful (you should know that) My chastisement is severe indeed!"

Translit: Waith taaththana rabbukum lain shakartum laazeedannakum walain kafartum inna AAathabee lashadeedun

Translation:

Has not the story reached you of those who have gone before you of the people of Noah and Ad and Thamud, and of those who came after them? Allah alone knows their number. When their Messengers came to them with plain teachings and manifest Signs, they thrust their hands into their mouths, saying, "We reject the Message with which you have been sent and we have a disquieting doubt about that thing to which you are inviting us."

Translit: Alam yatikum nabao allatheena min qablikum qawmi noohin waAAadin wathamooda waallatheena min baAAdihim la yaAAlamuhum illa Allahu jaathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati faraddoo aydiyahum fee afwahihim waqaloo inna kafarna bima orsiltum bihi wainna lafee shakkin mimma tadAAoonana ilayhi mureebun

Translation:

which he shall try to gulp down, but will scarcely swallow it. Death shall surround him on all sides, yet he shall not die; and before him there shall be a grievous torment.

Translit: YatajarraAAuhu wala yakadu yuseeghuhu wayateehi almawtu min kulli makanin wama huwa bimayyitin wamin waraihi AAathabun ghaleethun

Translation:

And when those people shall all be exposed together before Allah, then those who were weak in this world will say to those who had posed as big ones."As we followed you in the world, can you now do anything to relieve us from the torment of Allah?" They will reply, "Had Allah guided us to the way of salvation, we would have certainly guided you to it. Now it is all the same whether we bewail it or bear it with patience: there is for us no way of escape."

Translit: Wabarazoo lillahi jameeAAan faqala aldduAAafao lillatheena istakbaroo inna kunna lakum tabaAAan fahal antum mughnoona AAanna min AAathabi Allahi min shayin qaloo law hadana Allahu lahadaynakum sawaon AAalayna ajaziAAna am sabarna ma lana min maheesin

Translation:

And when Our judgment has been passed, Satan will say, â€œThe fact is that the promises Allah had made with you. were all true. I, too, made some promises with you but I failed to keep any of them.â€ Yet I had no power over you; I did nothing but to invite you to my way and you accepted my invitation. So do not now blame me, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you here, nor can you help me. I dissociate myself from your making me a partner with God before this. Such wrong-doers are sure to receive a grievous torment."

Translit: Waqala alshshaytanu lamma qudiya alamru inna Allaha waAAadakum waAAda alhaqqi wawaAAadtukum faakhlaftukum wama kana liya AAalaykum min sultanin illa an daAAawtukum faistajabtum lee fala taloomoonee waloomoo anfusakum ma ana bimusrikhikum wama antum bimusrikhiyya innee kafartu bima ashraktumooni min qablu inna alththalimeena lahum AAathabun aleemun

Translation:

O Muhammad, fore-warn them of the Day when Our scourge will overtake them: then these wrong-doers will say, "Our Lord! give us a little more respite: we will respond to Thy Message and follow the Messengers." (But it will be said to them decisively,) "Are you not the same people who swore before this that you will never meet with a decline,

Translit: Waanthiri alnnasa yawma yateehimu alAAathabu fayaqoolu allatheena thalamoo rabbana akhkhirna ila ajalin qareebin nujib daAAwataka wanattabiAAi alrrusula awalam takoonoo aqsamtum min qablu ma lakum min zawalin

Translation:

At this he requested, "My Lord! then give me respite till that Day when mankind shall be resurrected."

Translit: Qala rabbi faanthirnee ila yawmi yubAAathoona

Translation:

but at the same time My chastisement is also a severe chastisement."

Translit: Wa anna AAathabee huwa alAAathabu alaleemu

Translation:

We have given you seven verses that are worthy of recitation over and over again, and We have also bestowed on you the glorious Quran.

Translit: Walaqad ataynaka sabAAan mina almathanee waalqurana alAAatheema

Translation:

They are dead, not living, and they do not know at all when they shall again be raised to life.

Translit: Amwatun ghayru ahyain wama yashAAuroona ayyana yubAAathoona

Translation:

Many of those who have gone before them also contrived such cunning devices to defeat the Truth, but behold! Allah smote the edifice of their evil designs at its foundations and its roof fell down upon their heads from above them, and the scourge overtook them from the direction they little dreamed that it would come.

Translit: Qad makara allatheena min qablihim faata Allahu bunyanahum mina alqawaAAidi fakharra AAalayhimu alssaqfu min fawqihim waatahumu alAAathabu min haythu la yashAAuroona

Translation:

Accordingly, we sent to every community a Messenger, saying, "Worship Allah and keep away from the taghut." After that Allah showed guidance to some of them, while deviation took hold of others. So, roam about in the earth and behold what has been the end of the rejectors of the Messengers.

Translit: Walaqad baAAathna fee kulli ommatin rasoolan ani oAAbudoo Allaha waijtaniboo alttaghoota faminhum man hada Allahu waminhum man haqqat AAalayhi alddalalatu faseeroo fee alardi faonthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu almukaththibeena

Translation:

They solemnly swear by God with their most sacred oaths that "Allah will never raise him who once is dead".Why will He not raise? It is a promise He has made binding on Himself, but most people do not know it.

Translit: Waaqsamoo biAllahi jahda aymanihim la yabAAathu Allahu man yamootu bala waAAdan AAalayhi haqqan walakinna akthara alnnasi la yaAAlamoona

Translation:

What! Do those people, who are practicing evil devices (to oppose the Message), feel fully secure from the danger that Allah will cause them to sink into the earth? Or that He will bring scourge upon them from whence they little suspect that it will come,

Translit: Afaamina allatheena makaroo alssayyiati an yakhsifa Allahu bihimu alarda aw yatiyahumu alAAathabu min haythu la yashAAuroona

Translation:

By God, O Muhammad, We sent Messengers before you to many communities (and it has always been so that) Satan made their evil deeds seem fair to them, (and so they did not believe in the Message). The same Satan has this day become their patron also and they are incurring the most painful punishment.

Translit: TaAllahi laqad arsalna ila omamin min qablika fazayyana lahumu alshshaytanu aAAmalahum fahuwa waliyyuhumu alyawma walahum AAathabun aleemun

Translation:

(Do they realize what will happen) on the Day when We shall raise up a witness from every community? Then the disbelievers shall not be given any opportunity to put forward any excuses nor shall they be asked to show penitence.

Translit: Wayawma nabAAathu min kulli ommatin shaheedan thumma la yuthanu lillatheena kafaroo wala hum yustaAAtaboona

Translation:

When once the transgressors will see the torment, their punishment shall neither be lightened for them after this nor shall any respite be given to them.

Translit: Waitha raa allatheena thalamoo alAAathaba fala yukhaffafu AAanhum wala hum yuntharoona

Translation:

We will inflict double torment on those who followed the way of disbelief and hindered others from the Way of Allah on account of the chaos they spread in this world.

Translit: Allatheena kafaroo wasaddoo AAan sabeeli Allahi zidnahum AAathaban fawqa alAAathabi bima kanoo yufsidoona

Translation:

89] (O Muhammad, warn them of) the Day when We shall call a witness from among every community to testify against it. And We shall call you to testify against these people; (that is why) We have sent down .to you this Book which makes plain everything and is guidance, blessing and good news to those who have surrendered themselves entirely.

Translit: Wayawma nabAAathu fee kulli ommatin shaheedan AAalayhim min anfusihim wajina bika shaheedan AAala haolai wanazzalna AAalayka alkitaba tibyanan likulli shayin wahudan warahmatan wabushra lilmuslimeena

Translation:

And (O Muslims,) do not make your oaths the means of deceiving one another lest (someones) foot should slip after being firmly fixed and you may suffer the consequences of debarring other people from the Way of Allah, and undergo a severe torment.

Translit: Wala tattakhithoo aymanakum dakhalan baynakum fatazilla qadamun baAAda thubootiha watathooqoo alssooa bima sadadtum AAan sabeeli Allahi walakum AAathabun AAatheemun

Translation:

It is a fact that Allah does not show guidance to those who do not believe in His Revelations, and there is a painful torment for them.

Translit: Inna allatheena la yuminoona biayati Allahi la yahdeehimu Allahu walahum AAathabun aleemun

Translation:

Whoso is forced to disbelieve after believing, while his heart is convinced of the Faith, (he shall be absolved) but whosoever accepts disbelief willingly, he incurs Allahs wrath, and there is severe torment for all such people.

Translit: Man kafara biAllahi min baAAdi eemanihi illa man okriha waqalbuhu mutmainnun bialeemani walakin man sharaha bialkufri sadran faAAalayhim ghadabun mina Allahi walahum AAathabun AAatheemun

Translation:

Allah cites the instance of a habitation: it was enjoying a life of peace and security and was receiving its provisions in abundance from every quarter. Hut when it began to show ingratitude towards the favors of Allah, He made its inhabitants taste the consequences of their doings, and inflicted misfortunes of hunger and fear on them.

Translit: Wadaraba Allahu mathalan qaryatan kanat aminatan mutmainnatan yateeha rizquha raghadan min kulli makanin fakafarat bianAAumi Allahi faathaqaha Allahu libasa aljooAAi waalkhawfi bima kanoo yasnaAAoona

Translation:

A Messenger came to them from among themselves but they treated him as an impostor. At last a torment overtook them while they had become guilty of iniquity.

Translit: Walaqad jaahum rasoolun minhum fakaththaboohu faakhathahumu alAAathabu wahum thalimoona

Translation:

(They should remember that) the pleasures of this world are transitory and in the end there is a painful torment for them.

Translit: MataAAun qaleelun walahum AAathabun aleemun

Translation:

When the occasion of the first of the two mischiefs came, O Israelites, We raised against you such of Our servants who were very mighty and formidable; so they penetrated through all parts of your country. This was a warning that was bound to be fulfilled.

Translit: Faitha jaa waAAdu oolahuma baAAathna AAalaykum AAibadan lana olee basin shadeedin fajasoo khilala alddiyari wakana waAAdan mafAAoolan

Translation:

and to those who do not believe in the Hereafter, it gives the warning that a painful torment has been made ready for them.

Translit: Waanna allatheena la yuminoona bialakhirati aAAtadna lahum AAathaban aleeman

Translation:

Whosoever adopts the righteous way, his righteous conduct will be for his own good, and whosoever goes astray, his deviation shall bring its consequences on him. No bearer will bear the burden of another. And We do not inflict punishment until We have sent a Messenger (to make Truth distinct from falsehood.)

Translit: Mani ihtada fainnama yahtadee linafsihi waman dalla fainnama yadillu AAalayha wala taziru waziratun wizra okhra wama kunna muAAaththibeena hatta nabAAatha rasoolan

Translation:

What! has your Lord favored you with sons and adopted angels as daughters for Himself? Indeed it is a big lie that you are uttering.

Translit: Afaasfakum rabbukum bialbaneena waittakhatha mina almalaikati inathan innakum lataqooloona qawlan AAatheeman

Translation:

Your Lord is fully aware of everything concerning you. If He will, He may show mercy to you, and if He will, He may give you severe chastisement." And, O Prophet, We have not sent you to be the guardian over people.

Translit: Rabbukum aAAlamu bikum in yasha yarhamkum aw in yasha yuAAaththibkum wama arsalnaka AAalayhim wakeelan

Translation:

In fact those whom these people invoke for help themselves seek means of approach to their Lord and vie with one another to be nearer to Him and hope for His mercy and fear His chastisement.65 The fact is that the chastisement of your Lord is a thing to be dreaded.

Translit: Olaika allatheena yadAAoona yabtaghoona ila rabbihimu alwaseelata ayyuhum aqrabu wayarjoona rahmatahu wayakhafoona AAathabahu inna AAathaba rabbika kana mahthooran

Translation:

There is no habitation which We shall not destroy before the Day of Resurrection or punish with a severe chastisement. This has been ordained in the Eternal Record.

Translit: Wain min qaryatin illa nahnu muhlikooha qabla yawmi alqiyamati aw muAAaththibooha AAathaban shadeedan kana thalika fee alkitabi mastooran

Translation:

But if you had done so, We would have made you taste double chastisement in this world as well as in the Hereafter: then you would have found no helper against Us.

Translit: Ithan laathaqnaka diAAfa alhayati wadiAAfa almamati thumma la tajidu laka AAalayna naseeran

Besides this, offer Tahajjud Prayer at night: this is an additional prayer for you. That time is not far when your Lord may exalt you to a laudable position.

Translit: Wamina allayli fatahajjad bihi nafilatan laka AAasa an yabAAathaka rabbuka maqaman mahmoodan

Translation:

Whenever Guidance came before the people nothing prevented them from believing in it except this (excuse): they said: "Did Allah send a human being as His Messenger?"

Translit: Wama manaAAa alnnasa an yuminoo ith jaahumu alhuda illa an qaloo abaAAatha Allahu basharan rasoolan

Translation:

And We gave to Moses nine Signs which were quite manifest. Now you yourself may inquire from the children of Israel about it: when those Signs came before Pharaoh, he uttered these very words: â€œO Moses, I consider you to be a bewitched man."

Translit: Walaqad atayna moosa tisAAa ayatin bayyinatin faisal banee israeela ith jaahum faqala lahu firAAawnu innee laathunnuka ya moosa mashooran

Moses replied, â€œYou know it full well that none but the lord of the Heavens and the earth had sent down these signs as eye-openers, and O Pharaoh, I consider you indeed to be a doomed person."

Translit: Qala laqad AAalimta ma anzala haolai illa rabbu alssamawati waalardi basaira wainnee laathunnuka ya firAAawnu mathbooran

Then We raised them up in order to test which of them were able to calculate correctly the period of their stay there.

Translit: Thumma baAAathnahum linaAAlama ayyu alhizbayni ahsa lima labithoo amadan

Translation:

And in the same miraculous way We raised them up again so that they may ask one another (about their wonderful experience). One of them asked, "Well, how long have you remained in this condition?â€ The others answered, "May-be, we have remained so for a day or a part of a day.â€ Then they declared, "Your Lord knows best how long we have remained in this condition. So let us send one of us with this silver coin to the city, and he should look for a place wherein he can get the best food so that he may bring something to eat. He should, however, conduct himself with caution lest anyone should discover our whereabouts;

Translit: Wakathalika baAAathnahum liyatasaaloo baynahum qala qailun minhum kam labithtum qaloo labithna yawman aw baAAda yawmin qaloo rabbukum aAAlamu bima labithtum faibAAathoo ahadakum biwariqikum hathihi ila almadeenati falyanthur ayyuha azka taAAaman falyatikum birizqin minhu walyatalattaf wala yushAAiranna bikum ahadan

Translation:

In this way We revealed their secret to the people of the city so that they should know that Allah's promise is true and that there is no doubt about (the coming of) the Hour of Resurrection. (But it is a pity that instead of considering this aspect of the matter) they were at that time disputing among themselves with regard to them (the Sleepers of the Cave). Some of them said, "Let us build a wall against them, for then Lord alone knows best about themâ€ But those people who prevailed in their matter, said, "We will build a place of worship as a memorial for them"

Translit: Wakathalika aAAtharna AAalayhim liyaAAlamoo anna waAAda Allahi haqqun waanna alsaAAata la rayba feeha ith yatanazaAAoona baynahum amrahum faqaloo ibnoo AAalayhim bunyanan rabbuhum aAAlamu bihim qala allatheena ghalaboo AAala amrihim lanattakhithanna AAalayhim masjidan

Translation:

(The question is) what kept them back from accepting guidance when it came before them and from asking the forgiveness of their Lord? It is nothing more than this that they are waiting for the same thing to happen to them that visited the former communities; or that they should see the scourge of Allah coming before them!

Translit: Wama manaAAa alnnasa an yuminoo ith jaahumu alhuda wayastaghfiroo rabbahum illa an tatiyahum sunnatu alawwaleena aw yatiyahumu alAAathabu qubulan

Translation:

Your Lord is very Forgiving and very Merciful: Had He willed to seize them for their evil deeds, He would have sent immediately a scourge on them but He has appointed a time for its fulfillment, and they will find no way out to escape from it.

Translit: Warabbuka alghafooru thoo alrrahmati law yuakhithuhum bima kasaboo laAAajjala lahumu alAAathaba bal lahum mawAAidun lan yajidoo min doonihi mawilan

Translation:

(to the West and marched on) till he reached the limit where the sun set, and found it setting in black waters, and there he saw a people. We said to him, "O Zul-Qarnain! You have the power to punish them and also the option to treat them generously.â€

Translit: Hatta itha balagha maghriba alshshamsi wajadaha taghrubu fee AAaynin hamiatin wawajada AAindaha qawman qulna ya tha alqarnayni imma an tuAAaththiba waimma an tattakhitha feehim husnan

Translation:

He said, "We will punish that one of them who will commit iniquity: then he shall be returned to his Lord and He will inflict on him a grievous torment

Translit: Qala amma man thalama fasawfa nuAAaththibuhu thumma yuraddu ila rabbihi fayuAAaththibuhu AAathaban nukran

He prayed, â€œO my Lord! My very bones have become rotten, and my head is glistening with age. My Lord! I have never been disappointed in my prayer to Thee.

Translit: Qala rabbi innee wahana alAAathmu minnee waishtaAAala alrrasu shayban walam akun biduAAaika rabbi shaqiyyan

Peace was on him on the day he was born and on the day he died, and peace shall be on him on the day he will be raised to life.

Translit: Wasalamun AAalayhi yawma wulida wayawma yamootu wayawma yubAAathu hayyan

Peace be upon me on the day I was born and peace shall be on me on the day I die and on the day I am raised to life.â€

Translation:

But in spite of this, the sects began to have differences among themselves. So those who adopted the ways of disbelief shall suffer a horrible woe, when they witness the Great Day.

Translit: Faikhtalafa alahzabu min baynihim fawaylun lillatheena kafaroo min mashhadi yawmin AAatheemin

Translation:

Dear father! I am afraid lest you should incur the scourge of God and become Satan's companion.â€

Translit: Ya abati innee akhafu an yamassaka AAathabun mina alrrahmani fatakoona lilshshyatani waliyyan

Translation:

Say to them, "The Merciful gives respite to the one who falls into deviation up to the time when such people see that thing with which they had been threatened-the scourge of God or the Hour of Resurrection. Then they realize who was in worse plight and whose party was weaker.

Translit: Qul man kana fee alddalalati falyamdud lahu alrrahmanu maddan hatta itha raaw ma yooAAadoona imma alAAathaba waimma alssaAAata fasayaAAlamoona man huwa sharrun makanan waadAAafu jundan

Translation:

By no means! We will take down whatever he boasts of, and will increase his chastisement all the more

Translit: Kalla sanaktubu ma yaqoolu wanamuddu lahu mina alAAathabi maddan

Translation:

Go to him and say, â€œWe are Messengers from your Lord, so let the Israelites go with us, and do not oppress them. We have come to you with Signs from your lord; and peace is for him who follows the Right Way.

Translit: Fatiyahu faqoola inna rasoola rabbika faarsil maAAana banee israeela wala tuAAaththibhum qad jinaka biayatin min rabbika waalssalamu AAala mani ittabaAAa alhuda

Translation:

We have been informed by Revelation that there is scourge for him who rejects it and turns away."

Translit: Inna qad oohiya ilayna anna alAAathaba AAala man kaththaba watawalla

Translation:

(On the very occasion) Moses warned (his adversaries), saying, "O unfortunate people, do not invent falsehoods in regard to Allah: otherwise He will destroy you by a scourge: for whoso invented a falsehood, perished."

Translit: Qala lahum moosa waylakum la taftaroo AAala Allahi kathiban fayushitakum biAAathabin waqad khaba mani iftara

Translation:

Pharaoh said, "Have you believed in him before I gave you permission? Obviously, he is your master who has taught you sorcery. Well, now I will have your hands and feet cut off on alternate sides46 and crucify you on the trunks of palm-trees then you shall know whose punishment is more terrible and tasting (mine or that of Moses)."

Translit: Qala amantum lahu qabla an athana lakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee AAallamakumu alssihra falaoqattiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakum min khilafin walaosallibannakum fee juthooAAi alnnakhli walataAAlamunna ayyuna ashaddu AAathaban waabqa

Translation:

This is how We recompense (in this world) those who transgress the bounds and do not believe in the Revelations of their Lord. And the torment of the Hereafter is more terrible and more lasting.

Translit: Wakathalika najzee man asrafa walam yumin biayati rabbihi walaAAathabu alakhirati ashaddu waabqa

Translation:

Had We destroyed them with a scourge before its coming, these very people would have said, "Our Lord, why did you not send a Messenger to us so that we would have followed Your Revelations before we were humiliated and disgraced?"

Translit: Walaw anna ahlaknahum biAAathabin min qablihi laqaloo rabbana lawla arsalta ilayna rasoolan fanattabiAAa ayatika min qabli an nathilla wanakhza

Translation:

However, even if the slightest torment of your Lord touched them, they would forthwith cry out, "Woe to us ! no doubt we were wrong-doers."

Translit: Walain massathum nafhatun min AAathabi rabbika layaqoolunna ya waylana inna kunna thalimeena

Translation:

And We blessed Noah with the same favor; remember that he had invoked Us before those Prophets; We heard his prayer and delivered him and the people of his house from the great calamity

Translit: Wanoohan ith nada min qablu faistajabna lahu fanajjaynahu waahlahu mina alkarbi alAAatheemi

Translit: Ya ayyuha alnnasu ittaqoo rabbakum inna zalzalata alssaAAati shayon AAatheemun

Translation:

On the Day you behold it, you will see that every suckling woman will forsake her suckling, and every pregnant female will cast her burden, and the people will appear to you to be intoxicated, though they will not be drunk, but the dreadful torment from Allah will be such (as to make them reel like drunkards).

Translit: Yawma tarawnaha tathhalu kullu murdiAAatin AAamma ardaAAat watadaAAu kullu thati hamlin hamlaha watara alnnasa sukara wama hum bisukara walakinna AAathaba Allahi shadeedun

concerning whom it has been decreed that he will mislead whoever takes him for a friend and will show him the way to the torment of Hell.

Translit: Kutiba AAalayhi annahu man tawallahu faannahu yudilluhu wayahdeehi ila AAathabi alssaAAeeri

Translation:

O people, if you have any doubt about Life after death, you should know that We first created you of clay, then of a sperm-drop then of a clot of blood, then of a lump of flesh, shaped or shapeless. ( We are telling you this) so that We may make the reality plain to you. And We make those (sperm drops), which We will, remain in the wombs for a fixed period, then We bring you forth as a child; then (We nourish you) so that you may attain to your full youth. And there may be among you one who is recalled earlier and one who is returned to the most abject age so that he should know nothing even after knowing all he could. And you see the land lying dry and barren, but as soon as We send down rain water upon it, it stirs (to life), and swells and brings forth every kind of luxuriant vegetation.

Translit: Ya ayyuha alnnasu in kuntum fee raybin mina albaAAthi fainna khalaqnakum min turabin thumma min nutfatin thumma min AAalaqatin thumma min mudghatin mukhallaqatin waghayri mukhallaqatin linubayyina lakum wanuqirru fee alarhami ma nashao ila ajalin musamman thumma nukhrijukum tiflan thumma litablughoo ashuddakum waminkum man yutawaffa waminkum man yuraddu ila arthali alAAumuri likayla yaAAlama min baAAdi AAilmin shayan watara alarda hamidatan faitha anzalna AAalayha almaa ihtazzat warabat waanbata

Translation:

and (this is a proof that) the Hour of Resurrection is sure to come and there is absolutely no doubt about it, and most surely He will raise up those who are lying in the graves.

Translit: Waanna alssaAAata atiyatun la rayba feeha waanna Allaha yabAAathu man fee alquboori

Translation:

so that they may lead people astray from Allah's Way. Such a one shall incur disgrace in this world, and on the Day of Resurrection, We will make him taste the torment of the Fire,

Translit: Thaniya AAitfihi liyudilla AAan sabeeli Allahi lahu fee alddunya khizyun wanutheequhu yawma alqiyamati AAathaba alhareeqi

Translation:

Do you not see that everything in the heavens and the earth bows down before Allah? and so do the sun, and the moon and the stars, and the trees and the beasts and a large number of the people and even a large number of those who have deserved the torment. And the one whom Allah degrades and disgraces has none to make him worthy of honor; Allah does whatever He wills.

Translit: Alam tara anna Allaha yasjudu lahu man fee alssamawati waman fee alardi waalshshamsu waalqamaru waalnnujoomu waaljibalu waalshshajaru waalddawabbu wakatheerun mina alnnasi wakatheerun haqqa AAalayhi alAAathabu waman yuhini Allahu fama lahu min mukrimin inna Allaha yafAAalu ma yashao

Whenever in their anguish they will try to come out of Hell, they shall be driven back into it (with the rebuke): "Taste now the torment of burning."

Translit: Kullama aradoo an yakhrujoo minha min ghammin oAAeedoo feeha wathooqoo AAathaba alhareeqi

Translation:

Those who disbelieved, and are (now) debarring others from the Way of Allah and from visiting that Sacred Mosque, which We have assigned to all mankind with equal rights for its dwellers and the outsiders, (surely deserve punishment); whosoever shall deviate from righteousness, and adopt in this (Sacred Mosque) the way of iniquity, We will make him taste a painful chastisement.

Translit: Inna allatheena kafaroo wayasuddoona AAan sabeeli Allahi waalmasjidi alharami allathee jaAAalnahu lilnnasi sawaan alAAakifu feehi waalbadi waman yurid feehi biilhadin bithulmin nuthiqhu min AAathabin aleemin

and make a proclamation to the people to come to you for Hajj from far and near, on foot and on lean camels

Translit: Waaththin fee alnnasi bialhajji yatooka rijalan waAAala kulli damirin yateena min kulli fajjin AAameeqin

Translation:

This was (the object for which the Ka`bah was built,) and whoso observes the sanctity of the things ordained by Allah, it will be best for him in the sight of his Lord. And the cattle have been made lawful for you except what has already been mentioned to you; therefore guard yourselves against the filth of idols, and refrain from all false things.

Translit: Thalika waman yuAAaththim hurumati Allahi fahuwa khayrun lahu AAinda rabbihi waohillat lakumu alanAAamu illa ma yutla AAalaykum faijtaniboo alrrijsa mina alawthani waijtaniboo qawla alzzoori

Translation:

This is the fact of the matter: (so understand it well.) And whoso observe the sanctity of what have been ordained as Symbols of Allah, do so because of the piety of the hearts.

Translit: Thalika waman yuAAaththim shaAAaira Allahi fainnaha min taqwa alquloobi

Translation:

These people are demanding of you to hasten the chastisement.92 Allah will never fail to fulfill His threat, but a day with your Lord is equal to a thousand years as you reckon.

Translit: WayastaAAjiloonaka bialAAathabi walan yukhlifa Allahu waAAdahu wainna yawman AAinda rabbika kaalfi sanatin mimma taAAuddoona

Translation:

Yet the disbelievers will always remain in doubt about it until the Hour of Resurrection overtakes them suddenly or the scourge of a "barren" day descends upon them.

Translit: Wala yazalu allatheena kafaroo fee miryatin minhu hatta tatiyahumu alssaAAatu baghtatan aw yatiyahum AAathabu yawmin AAaqeemin

but those who will have disbelieved and treated Our Revelations as false, shall receive an ignominious punishment.

Translit: Waallatheena kafaroo wakaththaboo biayatina faolaika lahum AAathabun muheenun

Translation:

then most surely you shall' be raised up on the Day of Resurrection.

Translit: Thumma innakum yawma alqiyamati tubAAathoona

Translation:

They will continue their misdeeds till We bring punishment on the epicureans among them, then they will begin to bellow.

Translit: Hatta itha akhathna mutrafeehim bialAAathabi itha hum yajaroona

Translation:

for even now, when they are suffering from a torment, they have not bowed before their Lord nor humbled themselves.

Translit: Walaqad akhathnahum bialAAathabi fama istakanoo lirabbihim wama yatadarraAAoona

Translation:

However, when We will smite them with a dreadful scourge, you will see that they will despair of all good and become desperate.

Translit: Hatta itha fatahna AAalayhim baban tha AAathabin shadeedin itha hum feehi mublisoona

Translation:

Say to them, "To whom do the seven heavens and the Glorious Throne belong?"

Translit: Qul man rabbu alssamawati alssabAAi warabbu alAAarshi alAAatheemi

Translation:

I hope I will now do righteous deeds." By no means! it is a mere saying that he is uttering: for now there is a barrier between the dead (and the world which they have left) up to the Day when they shall be raised up again.

Translit: LaAAallee aAAmalu salihan feema taraktu kalla innaha kalimatun huwa qailuha wamin waraihim barzakhun ila yawmi yubAAathoona

Translation:

The woman and the man guilty of fornication, flog each one of them with a hundred stripes and let not any pity for them restrain you in regard to a matter prescribed by Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day, and let, some of the believers witness the punishment inflicted on them.

Translit: Alzzaniyatu waalzzanee faijlidoo kulla wahidin minhuma miata jaldatin wala takhuthkum bihima rafatun fee deeni Allahi in kuntum tuminoona biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri walyashhad AAathabahuma taifatun mina almumineena

Translation:

(As for the woman), it shall avert the punishment from her if she swears four times by Allah that the man is false (in his charge)

Translit: Wayadrao AAanha alAAathaba an tashhada arbaAAa shahadatin biAllahi innahu lamina alkathibeena

Translation:

Those who have invented the slander, are some of your own people. You should not, however, regard this matter as evil for it has good in it for you. Whoso took any part in this, he earned his share of the sin accordingly, and the one, who had the greatest share of responsibility in it, shall have a terrible punishment.

Translit: Inna allatheena jaoo bialifki AAusbatun minkum la tahsaboohu sharran lakum bal huwa khayrun lakum likulli imriin minhum ma iktasaba mina alithmi waallathee tawalla kibrahu minhum lahu AAathabun AAatheemun

Translation:

Were it not for Allah's grace and mercy towards you in this world and in the Hereafter, a painful scourge would have visited you because of the things in which you were involved.

Translit: Walawla fadlu Allahi AAalaykum warahmatuhu fee alddunya waalakhirati lamassakum fee ma afadtum feehi AAathabun AAatheemun

Translation:

(Just think how erroneous you were,) when you passed this lie on from one tongue to the other and uttered with your mouths that of which you had no knowledge. You took it as a trifling matter whereas it was a grave offense in the sight of Allah.

Why did you not, as soon as you heard of it, say, "It is not proper for us to utter such a thing ? Glory be to Allah! This is a great slander."

Translit: Walawla ith samiAAtumoohu qultum ma yakoonu lana an natakallama bihatha subhanaka hatha buhtanun AAatheemun

Translation:

As for those, who like that indecency should spread among the Believers, they deserve a painful punishment in this world and in the Hereafter, for Allah knows and you do not know (its consequences).

Translit: Inna allatheena yuhibboona an tasheeAAa alfahishatu fee allatheena amanoo lahum AAathabun aleemun fee alddunya waalakhirati waAllahu yaAAlamu waantum la taAAlamoona

Translation:

Those who charge with slander those Believing women, who are chaste but simple souls, are accursed in this world and in the Hereafter: there is a great punishment for them.

Translit: Inna allatheena yarmoona almuhsanati alghafilati almuminati luAAinoo fee alddunya waalakhirati walahum AAathabun AAatheemun

Translation:

O Believers, do not consider the summoning by the Messenger like the summoning among you by one another. Allah knows well those of you who steal away, concealing themselves behind others. Let those who disobey the order of the Messenger beware lest they should be involved in some affliction, or are visited by a woeful scourge.

Translit: La tajAAaloo duAAaa alrrasooli baynakum kaduAAai baAAdikum baAAdan qad yaAAlamu Allahu allatheena yatasallaloona minkum liwathan falyahthari allatheena yukhalifoona AAan amrihi an tuseebahum fitnatun aw yuseebahum AAathabun aleemun

Translation:

When it will see them from afar, they will hear the sounds of its raging and roaring.

Translit: Itha raathum min makanin baAAeedin samiAAoo laha taghayyuthan wazafeeran

Translation:

Thus will your gods deny all that you are professing today. Then you shall neither be able to repel your punishment nor shall get any help from anywhere; and whoso is guilty. of iniquity among you, We shall make him taste a severe torment.

Translit: Faqad kaththabookum bima taqooloona fama tastateeAAoona sarfan wala nasran waman yathlim minkum nuthiqhu AAathaban kabeeran

Translation:

The same was the case with the people of Noah when they charged the Messenger with imposture. We drowned them and made them a sign of warning for entire mankind, and We have prepared a painful chastisement for the unjust.

Translit: Waqawma noohin lamma kaththaboo alrrusula aghraqnahum wajaAAalnahum lilnnasi ayatan waaAAtadna lilththalimeena AAathaban aleeman

Translation:

When these people see you, they scoff at you, (saying), "Is this the man whom Allah has sent as His Messenger?

Translit: Waitha raawka in yattakhithoonaka illa huzuwan ahatha allathee baAAatha Allahu rasoolan

Translation:

He had almost led us astray from our gods, had we not remained firm in our faith with regard to them." The time is not far when they will see the torment and realize who had strayed far from the truth.

Translit: In kada layudilluna AAan alihatina lawla an sabarna AAalayha wasawfa yaAAlamoona heena yarawna alAAathaba man adallu sabeelan

Had We willed, We would have raised up a separate Warner in each habitation.

And it is He, Who has let loose the two seas, one palatable and sweet, the other bitter and salty, and there is a partition between them, which is an insurmountable barrier.

Translit: Wahuwa allathee maraja albahrayni hatha AAathbun furatun wahatha milhun ojajun wajaAAala baynahuma barzakhan wahijran mahjooran

who pray, "Our Lord, save us from the torment of Hell, for its torment is killing:

Translit: Waallatheena yaqooloona rabbana isrif AAanna AAathaba jahannama inna AAathabaha kana gharaman

and his torment shall be doubled on the Day of Resurrection, and he shall abide in a state of ignominy,

Translit: YudaAAaf lahu alAAathabu yawma alqiyamati wayakhlud feehi muhanan

he wants to drive you out of your land by means of his magic. Now, what is your command?"

Translit: Yureedu an yukhrijakum min ardikum bisihrihi famatha tamuroona

They said, â€œDetain him and his brother for a while, and send forth heralds to the cities

Translit: Qaloo arjih waakhahu waibAAath fee almadaini hashireena

Translation:

We inspired Moses with the Command: "Smite the sea with your staff." The sea parted forthwith and its each part stood like a mighty mountain.

Translit: Faawhayna ila moosa ani idrib biAAasaka albahra fainfalaqa fakana kullu firqin kaalttawdi alAAatheemi

Translation:

and do not disgrace me on the Day when everybody will be raised back to life,

Translit: Wala tukhzinee yawma yubAAathoona

I fear the torment of a dreadful Day for you."

Translit: Innee akhafu AAalaykum AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin

They replied, "Whether you admonish us or not, it is the same for us:

Translit: Qaloo sawaon AAalayna awaAAathta am lam takun mina alwaAAitheena

and we are certainly not going to be chastised."

Translation:

Do not at all molest her; otherwise you will be overtaken by the torment of a dreadful day."

for the torment overtook them.106 Indeed there is a Sign in this, but most of these people would not believe.

Translit: Faakhathahumu alAAathabu inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

and do not cheat people of their goods; and do not spread evil in the land,

Translit: Wala tabkhasoo alnnasa ashyaahum wala taAAthaw fee alardi mufsideena

They treated him as a liar. At last, the torment of the Day of Canopy overtook them, and it was the torment of an extremely dreadful day.

Translit: Fakaththaboohu faakhathahum AAathabu yawmi alththullati innahu kana AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin

They do not believe in it until they see the painful torment.

Translit: La yuminoona bihi hatta yarawoo alAAathaba alaleema

Are these people clamoring for Our torment to be hastened?

So, O Muhammad, do not invoke any other deity besides Allah lest you should also be included among those who will be chastised.

They are the ones for whom there is an evil chastisement, and in the Hereafter they shall be the worst losers.

But when Our clear Signs came before those people, they said, "This is plain magic."

Translit: Falamma jaathum ayatuna mubsiratan qaloo hatha sihrun mubeenun

I will punish him severely, or even slaughter him, unless he presents before me a reasonable excuseâ€

There I have seen a woman ruling over her people: she has been given all sorts of provisions, and she has a splendid throne.

Translit: Innee wajadtu imraatan tamlikuhum waootiyat min kulli shayin walaha AAarshun AAatheemun

Allah: none but He is worthy of worship. He is the Owner of the glorious Throne.

Translit: Allahu la ilaha illa huwa rabbu alAAarshi alAAatheemi

Translation:

She was asked to enter the palace. When she saw it, she thought it was a pool of water, so she tucked up her skirt to enter it. Solomon said, "It is the glossy floor of glass." At this she exclaimed, "O my Lord! I have (hitherto) been unjust to myself; now I submit myself, with Solomon, to Allah, Lord of the worlds."

Translit: Qeela laha odkhulee alssarha falamma raathu hasibathu lujjatan wakashafat AAan saqayha qala innahu sarhun mumarradun min qawareera qalat rabbi innee thalamtu nafsee waaslamtu maAAa sulaymana lillahi rabbi alAAalameena

Tell them, "None but Allah has the knowledge of the unseen, in the heavens and the earth, and they (your deities) do not even know when they will be raised back to life."

Translit: Qul la yaAAlamu man fee alssamawati waalardi alghayba illa Allahu wama yashAAuroona ayyana yubAAathoona

Translation:

(Not long afterwards) one of the two women came bashfully towards him, and said, "My father calls you so that he may reward you for watering our animals for us." When Moses went to him and narrated to him his whole story he said, "Have no fear for you have now escaped from the wicked people."

Translit: Fajaathu ihdahuma tamshee AAala istihyain qalat inna abee yadAAooka liyajziyaka ajra ma saqayta lana falamma jaahu waqassa AAalayhi alqasasa qala la takhaf najawta mina alqawmi alththalimeena

And Pharaoh said, "O chiefs, I do not know of any other god of yours than myself. Burn for me bricks of clay, O Haman, and build me a high tower so that I may climb it to see the God of Moses for I consider him to be an utter liar."

Translit: Waqala firAAawnu ya ayyuha almalao ma AAalimtu lakum min ilahin ghayree faawqid lee ya hamanu AAala altteeni faijAAal lee sarhan laAAallee attaliAAu ila ilahi moosa wainnee laathunnuhu mina alkathibeena

Translation:

And your Lord would never destroy habitations until He had sent in their central place a Messenger, who recited to them Our Revelations; and We would not destroy Habitations until their dwellers had become wicked.

Translit: Wama kana rabbuka muhlika alqura hatta yabAAatha fee ommiha rasoolan yatloo AAalayhim ayatina wama kunna muhlikee alqura illa waahluha thalimoona

Translation:

Then it will be said to them. "Call now on those whom you held as (Allah's) partners." They will call them, but will get no answer and they will see the torment. Would that they had followed the guidance!

Translit: Waqeela odAAoo shurakaakum fadaAAawhum falam yastajeeboo lahum waraawoo alAAathaba law annahum kanoo yahtadoona

Translation:

One day he came out before his people in all his fineries. Those who sought the life of this world, said, "Would that we had the like of what Korah has been given! He is indeed a very lucky man."

Translit: Fakharaja AAala qawmihi fee zeenatihi qala allatheena yureedoona alhayata alddunya ya layta lana mithla ma ootiya qaroonu innahu lathoo haththin AAatheemin

Translation:

There is among the people such a one, who says, "We have believed in Allah", but when he was persecuted in the cause of Allah, he deemed the persecution by the people as the punishment of Allah. Now if there comes help and victory from your Lord, the same person Will say, "We were with you". Is not Allah fully aware of what is in the hearts of the people of the world?

Translit: Wamina alnnasi man yaqoolu amanna biAllahi faitha oothiya fee Allahi jaAAala fitnata alnnasi kaAAathabi Allahi walain jaa nasrun min rabbika layaqoolunna inna kunna maAAakum awalaysa Allahu biaAAlama bima fee sudoori alAAalameena

Translation:

Of course, they shall bear their own burdens as well as many other burdens in addition to their own. And on the Day of Resurrection, they will surely be questioned about their scandal mongering.

Translit: Walayahmilunna athqalahum waathqalan maAAa athqalihim walayusalunna yawma alqiyamati AAamma kanoo yaftaroona

He may punish whom He wills and show mercy to whom He wills; to Him you shall be turned back.

Translit: YuAAaththibu man yashao wayarhamu man yashao wailayhi tuqlaboona

Those who have denied Allah's Revelations and their meeting with Him, have despaired of My Mercy, and they will have a painful punishment.

Translit: Waallatheena kafaroo biayati Allahi waliqaihi olaika yaisoo min rahmatee waolaika lahum AAathabun aleemun

Translation:

What! Do you go to the males, and commit robbery and indulge in indecencies in your assemblies?" Then the only answer his people gave was to say, "Bring forth the torment of Allah if you are truthful."

Translit: Ainnakum latatoona alrrijala wataqtaAAoona alssabeela watatoona fee nadeekumu almunkara fama kana jawaba qawmihi illa an qaloo itina biAAathabi Allahi in kunta mina alssadiqeena

Translation:

And to Madyan, We sent their brother Shu'aib. He said, "O my people, worship Allah and look forward to the Last Day, and do not commit excesses in the land wickedly."

Translit: Waila madyana akhahum shuAAayban faqala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha waorjoo alyawma alakhira wala taAAthaw fee alardi mufsideena

Translation:

These people wish that you hasten the torment on them. Had a time not been fixed for it, the torment would already have overtaken them. And most certainly it shall come (at the appointed time) suddenly while they would least expect it.

Translit: WayastaAAjiloonaka bialAAathabi walawla ajalun musamman lajaahumu alAAathabu walayatiyannahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona

Translation:

They challenge you to hasten the torment, whereas Hell has encircled the disbelievers,

Translit: YastaAAjiloonaka bialAAathabi wainna jahannama lamuheetatun bialkafireena

Translation:

(and they will know of it) on the Day when the torment will cover them from above them as well as from beneath their feet, and will say, "Now taste your own misdeeds."

Translit: Yawma yaghshahumu alAAathabu min fawqihim wamin tahti arjulihim wayaqoolu thooqoo ma kuntum taAAmaloona

Translation:

And have they never traveled in the earth that they could see the end of those who have gone before them? They were mightier than these in strength: they tilled the land and built more on it than these people have. Their Messengers came to them with clear Signs. then it was not Allah Who was unjust to them, but it was they who were being unjust to themselves.

Translit: Awalam yaseeroo fee alardi fayanthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu allatheena min qablihim kanoo ashadda minhum quwwatan waatharoo alarda waAAamarooha akthara mimma AAamarooha wajaathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati fama kana Allahu liyathlimahum walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona

Translation:

and those who have disbelieved and rejected Our Revelations and the meeting of the Hereafter, will be presented for punishment.

Translit: Waamma allatheena kafaroo wakaththaboo biayatina waliqai alakhirati faolaika fee alAAathabi muhdaroona

Translation:

But those who had been given knowledge and faith, will say, " You have stayed, according to the book of Allah, till the Day of Resurrection: so this is the same Day of Resurrection, but you did not know."

Translit: Waqala allatheena ootoo alAAilma waaleemana laqad labithtum fee kitabi Allahi ila yawmi albaAAthi fahatha yawmu albaAAthi walakinnakum kuntum la taAAlamoona

Translation:

So, on that Day, the excuse of the wicked will not avail them anything, nor will they be asked to seek forgiveness.

Translit: Fayawmaithin la yanfaAAu allatheena thalamoo maAAthiratuhum wala hum yustaAAtaboona

Translation:

And there is among the men such a one also, who buys alluring tales so that he may lead the people astray from Allah's Way, without any knowledge, and make a mockery of the invitation to it. For such people there is a disgraceful torment.

Translit: Wamina alnnasi man yashtaree lahwa alhadeethi liyudilla AAan sabeeli Allahi bighayri AAilmin wayattakhithaha huzuwan olaika lahum AAathabun muheenun

Translation:

When Our Revelations are recited to huh, he turns his face away disdainfully as though he did not hear theta, as though his ears were deaf. Well, give him the good news of a painful torment.

Translit: Waitha tutla AAalayhi ayatuna walla mustakbiran kaan lam yasmaAAha kaanna fee othunayhi waqran fabashshirhu biAAathabin aleemin

Translation:

Remember the time when Luqman was admonishing his son, saying, "My son, join not another as an associate with God: the truth is that joining associates (with God) is a grave iniquity."

Translit: Waith qala luqmanu liibnihi wahuwa yaAAithuhu ya bunayya la tushrik biAllahi inna alshshirka lathulmun AAatheemun

Translation:

And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allah has sent down," they say, "We shall only follow that upon which we found our forefathers." What! Will they still be following them even if Satan had been calling them to the raging Fire?

Translit: Waitha qeela lahumu ittabiAAoo ma anzala Allahu qaloo bal nattabiAAu ma wajadna AAalayhi abaana awalaw kana alshshaytanu yadAAoohum ila AAathabi alssaAAeeri

Translation:

We are allowing them to enjoy themselves for a while in the world; then We shall drag them to a severe torment in a helpless condition.

Translit: NumattiAAuhum qaleelan thumma nadtarruhum ila AAathabin ghaleethin

Translation:

Your creation and your resurrection are as simple for Him as (the creation and resurrection) of a single soul. The fact is that Allah hears everything and sees everything.

Translit: Ma khalqukum wala baAAthukum illa kanafsin wahidatin inna Allaha sameeAAun baseerun

Translation:

So, taste now the recompense of your having forgotten the meeting of this Day. We, too, have forgotten you now! Taste the everlasting torment in consequence of your misdeeds."

Translit: Fathooqoo bima naseetum liqaa yawmikum hatha inna naseenakum wathooqoo AAathaba alkhuldi bima kuntum taAAmaloona

Translation:

As for those who have adopted evil, their abode shall be Hell. Whenever they try to get out of it, they will be pushed back into it and it will be said to them, "Taste now the torment of the Fire which you used to deny."

Translit: Waamma allatheena fasaqoo famawahumu alnnaru kullama aradoo an yakhrujoo minha oAAeedoo feeha waqeela lahum thooqoo AAathaba alnnari allathee kuntum bihi tukaththiboona

Translation:

Even in this world We shall make them taste (one or the other) lesser torment before that greater torment; may-be they desist (from their rebellious attitude).

Translit: Walanutheeqannahum mina alAAathabi aladna doona alAAathabi alakbari laAAallahum yarjiAAoona

Translation:

so that (their Lord) may question the truthful about their truth; as for the disbelievers, He has indeed reserved a painful punishment for them.

Translit: Liyasala alssadiqeena AAan sidqihim waaAAadda lilkafireena AAathaban aleeman

Translation:

(All this happened) so that Allah may reward the truthful for their truthfulness, and punish the hypocrites, or accept their repentance as He will. Indeed Allah is All-Forgiving, All-Merciful.

Translit: Liyajziya Allahu alssadiqeena bisidqihim wayuAAaththiba almunafiqeena in shaa aw yatooba AAalayhim inna Allaha kana ghafooran raheeman

But if you seek Allah and His Messenger and the abode of the Hereafter, you should rest assured that Allah has prepared a great reward for those of you who do good."

Translit: Wain kuntunna turidna Allaha warasoolahu waalddara alakhirata fainna Allaha aAAadda lilmuhsinati minkunna ajran AAatheeman

Translit: Ya nisaa alnnabiyyi man yati minkunna bifahishatin mubayyinatin yudaAAaf laha alAAathabu diAAfayni wakana thalika AAala Allahi yaseeran

Translation:

Most surely the men and the women who have surrendered themselves to Allah; who are believing, obedient, truthful, and patient; who bow down before Allah, practice charity, observe the fasts, guard their private parts and remember Allah much. Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a vast reward.

Translit: Inna almuslimeena waalmuslimati waalmumineena waalmuminati waalqaniteena waalqanitati waalssadiqeena waalssadiqati waalssabireena waalssabirati waalkhashiAAeena waalkhashiAAati waalmutasaddiqeena waalmutasaddiqati waalssaimeena waalssaimati waalhafitheena furoojahum waalhafithati waalththakireena Allaha katheeran waalththakirati aAAadda Allahu lahum maghfiratan waajran AAatheeman

Translation:

Allah has cursed in this world and in the Hereafter those who cause trouble to Allah and His Messenger, and has prepared for them a disgraceful punishment.

Translit: Inna allatheena yuthoona Allaha warasoolahu laAAanahumu Allahu fee alddunya waalakhirati waaAAadda lahum AAathaban muheenan

Translation:

Lord, give them a double chastisement and curse them severely."

Translit: Rabbana atihim diAAfayni mina alAAathabi wailAAanhum laAAnan kabeeran

Translation:

Allah will adorn your deeds and will overlook your errors Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, has indeed attained a great success.

Translit: Yuslih lakum aAAmalakum wayaghfir lakum thunoobakum waman yutiAAi Allaha warasoolahu faqad faza fawzan AAatheeman

Translation:

(The inevitable result of bearing the burden of the trust is) that Allah should Punish the hypocritical men and women and mushrik men and women, and accept the repentance of the believing men and women: Allah is indeed Forgiving and Merciful.

Translit: LiyuAAaththiba Allahu almunafiqeena waalmunafiqati waalmushrikeena waalmushrikati wayatooba Allahu AAala almumineena waalmuminati wakana Allahu ghafooran raheeman

Translation:

As for those who have striven hard to discredit Our Revelations, for them there is a painful torment of the worst kind.

Translit: Waallatheena saAAaw fee ayatina muAAajizeena olaika lahum AAathabun min rijzin aleemin

Translation:

No one knows whether this man forges a lie in the name of Allah or is mad." Nay, but those only, who do not believe in the Hereafter, will incur the punishment and they are involved in gross error.

Translit: Aftara AAala Allahi kathiban am bihi jinnatun bali allatheena la yuminoona bialakhirati fee alAAathabi waalddalali albaAAeedi

Translation:

And for Solomon We subjected the wind which covered a month's journey in the morning and a month's journey in the evening and We made a fountain of molten copper to flow for him and subdued such jinns to him who served before him by the command of his Lord. Whoever from among them swerved from Our Command, We made him taste the brazing Fire.

Translit: Walisulaymana alrreeha ghuduwwuha shahrun warawahuha shahrun waasalna lahu AAayna alqitri wamina aljinni man yaAAmalu bayna yadayhi biithni rabbihi waman yazigh minhum AAan amrina nuthiqhu min AAathabi alssaAAeeri

Translation:

Then, when we decreed death for Solomon, there was nothing to inform the jinns of his death except the wood louse which was eating away his staff. So, when Solomon fell down, it became clear to the Jinns that if they had known the unseen, they would not have continued in the humiliating torment.

Translit: Falamma qadayna AAalayhi almawta ma dallahum AAala mawtihi illa dabbatu alardi takulu minsaatahu falamma kharra tabayyanati aljinnu an law kanoo yaAAlamoona alghayba ma labithoo fee alAAathabi almuheeni

Translation:

But they turned away. Consequently, We sent upon them a flood due to bursting of the dam and replaced their two gardens by two other gardens producing bitter fruit and tamarisks and a few lote bushes.

Translit: FaaAAradoo faarsalna AAalayhim sayla alAAarimi wabaddalnahum bijannatayhim jannatayni thawatay okulin khamtin waathlin washayin min sidrin qaleelin

Translation:

The oppressed ones will say to the arrogant ones. "Nay, but it was your plotting by day and night when you told us to deny Allah and to set up others as equals with Him." At last, when they will see the torment, they will repent in their hearts, and We shall put fetters on the necks of the disbelievers. Can the people be requited except in accordance with their deeds?

Translit: Waqala allatheena istudAAifoo lillatheena istakbaroo bal makru allayli waalnnahari ith tamuroonana an nakfura biAllahi wanajAAala lahu andadan waasarroo alnnadamata lamma raawoo alAAathaba wajaAAalna alaghlala fee aAAnaqi allatheena kafaroo hal yujzawna illa ma kanoo yaAAmaloona

Translation:

They always said this: "We have more wealth and children than you, and we shall never be punished."

Translit: Waqaloo nahnu aktharu amwalan waawladan wama nahnu bimuAAaththabeena

Translation:

As for those who strive hard in order to frustrate Our Revelations, they shall be severely punished.

Translit: Waallatheena yasAAawna fee ayatina muAAajizeena olaika fee alAAathabi muhdaroona

Translation:

(At that time We shall say:) "Today you can neither help nor harm one another." And to the wrongdoers We shall say, Now taste the torment of Hell which you used to deny."

Translit: Faalyawma la yamliku baAAdukum libaAAdin nafAAan wala darran wanaqoolu lillatheena thalamoo thooqoo AAathaba alnnari allatee kuntum biha tukaththiboona

Translation:

O Prophet, say to them, "I shall advise you of one thing: Think hard singly or in twos for the sake of Allah and reflect as to what is there of madness in your companion. He is only a warner to you before the coming of a dreadful torment."

Translit: Qul innama aAAithukum biwahidatin an taqoomoo lillahi mathna wafurada thumma tatafakkaroo ma bisahibikum min jinnatin in huwa illa natheerun lakum bayna yaday AAathabin shadeedin

Those who disbelieve shall have a severe punishment, and those who believe and do good works shall have forgiveness and a rich reward.

Translit: Allatheena kafaroo lahum AAathabun shadeedun waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lahum maghfiratun waajrun kabeerun

Translation:

Whoever seeks honor should know that the honor wholly belongs to Allah. Only the pure Word rises up to Him, and the righteous deed causes it to rise. As for those who plot evil, there is a severe torment for them, and their plotting shall itself perish.

Translit: Man kana yureedu alAAizzata falillahi alAAizzatu jameeAAan ilayhi yasAAadu alkalimu alttayyibu waalAAamalu alssalihu yarfaAAuhu waallatheena yamkuroona alssayyiati lahum AAathabun shadeedun wamakru olaika huwa yabooru

Translation:

And the two bodies of water are not alike. One is sweet and thirst-quenching, pleasant to drink, while the other is saltish and pungent; yet from both you get fresh flesh and bring out decorations to wear, and in the same waters you see the ships which plough through it so that you may seek Allah's bounty and be grateful to Him.

Translit: Wama yastawee albahrani hatha AAathbun furatun saighun sharabuhu wahatha milhun ojajun wamin kullin takuloona lahman tariyyan watastakhrijoona hilyatan talbasoonaha watara alfulka feehi mawakhira litabtaghoo min fadlihi walaAAallakum tashkuroona

Translation:

Now if they treat you as a liar, those who lived before them also treated (their Messengers) as liars. Their Messengers came to them with clear proofs and Scriptures and the enlightening Book.

Translit: Wain yukaththibooka faqad kaththaba allatheena min qablihim jaathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati wabialzzuburi wabialkitabi almuneeri

Translation:

And for those who have disbelieved there is the Fire of Hell: neither will, it be decreed that they should die, nor will the torment of Hell be lightened for them in any way. Thus do We requite every disbeliever.

Translit: Waallatheena kafaroo lahum naru jahannama la yuqda AAalayhim fayamootoo wala yukhaffafu AAanhum min AAathabiha kathalika najzee kulla kafoorin

Translation:

We shall certainly one day raise the dead to life. We are recording all the deeds they have done and also that which they have left behind. We have preserved everything in an open Book.

Translit: Inna nahnu nuhyee almawta wanaktubu ma qaddamoo waatharahum wakulla shayin ahsaynahu fee imamin mubeenin

The people said, "We regard you as an evil omen for ourselves. If you do not desist (froth this), we shall stone you, and you will receive a painful punishment from us."

Translit: Qaloo inna tatayyarna bikum lain lam tantahoo lanarjumannakum walayamassannakum minna AAathabun aleemun

Bewildered they will say, "Ah! who has roused us from our sleeping-place?" "This is the same which the Merciful God had promised and the Messengers had spoken the truth."

Translit: Qaloo ya waylana man baAAathana min marqadina hatha ma waAAada alrrahmanu wasadaqa almursaloona

and for them there is a perpetual torment.

This indeed is the supreme success.

We saved him and his household from the great distress

And We ransomed his son for a great sacrifice,

We delivered them and their people from a great distress.

he would have remained in the fish's belly till the Day of Resurrection.

Are they clamoring for our torment?

Was he the only (fit) person among us to whom Allah's Admonition should have been sent down?" The fact of the matter is that they doubt My "Admonition", and they say this because they have not yet tasted My punishment.

Translit: Aonzila AAalayhi alththikru min baynina bal hum fee shakkin min thikree bal lamma yathooqoo AAathabi

(We said:) "O David, We have made you vicegerent in the earth, so rule among the people with justice and do not follow your lust, for it will lead you astray from Allah's Way." For those who go astray from Allah's Way, there is a severe punishment because they forgot the Day of Reckoning."

Translit: Ya dawoodu inna jaAAalnaka khaleefatan fee alardi faohkum bayna alnnasi bialhaqqi wala tattabiAAi alhawa fayudillaka AAan sabeeli Allahi inna allatheena yadilloona AAan sabeeli Allahi lahum AAathabun shadeedun bima nasoo yawma alhisabi

And make mention of Our servant Job when he called upon his Lord, (saying), "Satan has afflicted me with great distress and torment."

Translit: Waothkur AAabdana ayyooba ith nada rabbahu annee massaniya alshshaytanu binusbin waAAathabin

Then they will say, "Our Lord, give him who has brought this fate on us a double punishment in Hell."

Say to them, "This is a great News

He said, "My Lord, if so, then give me respite till the time when these people shall be raised (back to life)."

Say, "If I disobey my Lord, I fear the torment of a dreadful Day."

Translit: Qul innee akhafu in AAasaytu rabbee AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin

(O Prophet,) who can protect the person for whom the torment has already been decreed? Can you rescue him who has already fallen into the fire?

Translit: Afaman haqqa AAalayhi kalimatu alAAathabi afaanta tunqithu man fee alnnari

Now, how can you imagine the plight of the one who will receive the severe punishment of the Day of Resurrection on his face? To such wrongdoers it will be said, "Taste now (the fruit of) what you had been earning."

Translit: Afaman yattaqee biwajhihi sooa alAAathabi yawma alqiyamati waqeela lilththalimeena thooqoo ma kuntum taksiboona
