Translation:

Remember: You grumbled: "O Moses, we cannot endure one and the same sort of food. Pray your Lord to bring for us the products of the earth green herbs, vegetables, corn, garlic, onions, pulses and the like." Moses replied: "What! would you exchange that which is meaner for that which is nobler? Well, go and live in a town and you will get there what you demand." By and by, they became so degraded that disgrace and humiliation, misery and wretchedness were stamped upon them and they incurred Allahs wrath. That was because they began to reject the Revelations of Allah78 and kill His Messengers without any just cause; that was the consequence of their disobedience and their persistent transgression against the Law.

Translit: wa ith qultum ya moosa lan nasbira AAala taAAamin wahidin faodAAu lana rabbaka yukhrij lana mimma tunbitu alardu min baqliha wa qiththaiha wa foomiha wa AAadasiha wa basaliha qala atastabdiloona allathee huwa adna biallathee huwa khayrun ihbitoo misran fainna lakum ma saaltum wa duribat AAalayhimu alththillatu wa almaskanatu wabaoo bighadabin mina Allahi thalika biannahum kanoo yakfuroona biayati Allahi wa yaqtuloona alnnabiyyeena bighayri alhaqqi thalika bima AAasaw wa kanoo yaAAtadoona

This was inspite of the fact that Allah had sent down the Book with the Truth but the people who sought differences in the Book swerved far away from the Truth in their disputes.

Translit: Thalika bianna Allaha nazzala alkitaba bialhaqqi wainna allatheena ikhtalafoo fee alkitabi lafee shiqaqin baAAeedin

Translation:

But those who devour interest become like the one whom Satan has bewitched and maddened by his touch. They have been condemned to this condition because they say, "Trade is just like interestâ€, whereas Allah has made trade lawful and interest unlawfu1. Henceforth, if one abstains from taking interest after receiving this admonition from his Lord, no legal action will be taken against him regarding the interest he had devoured before; his case shall ultimately go to Allah. But if one repeats the same crime after this, . he shall go to Hell, where he shall abide for ever.

Translit: Allatheena yakuloona alrriba la yaqoomoona illa kama yaqoomu allathee yatakhabbatuhu alshshaytanu mina almassi thalika biannahum qaloo innama albayAAu mithlu alrriba waahalla Allahu albayAAa waharrama alrriba faman jaahu mawAAithatun min rabbihi faintaha falahu ma salafa waamruhu ila Allahi waman AAada faolaika ashabu alnnari hum feeha khalidoona

They do this because they say, "The fire of Hell is not going to touch us and even if it does at all, it will be only for a few days." Such self invented beliefs have involved them in various kinds of misunderstandings about their religion.

Translation:

When Jesus perceived that the children of Israel were bent upon disbelief, he said, "Who will be my helper in the cause of Allah?" The disciples (promptly responded and) said, "We are Allahs helpers: we have believed in Allah; so do bear witness that we are Muslims (who surrender to Allah).

Translit: Falamma ahassa AAeesa minhumu alkufra qala man ansaree ila Allahi qala alhawariyyoona nahnu ansaru Allahi amanna biAllahi waishhad bianna muslimoona

Translation:

Say, "O people of the Book! Come to what is common between us and you, that we worship none but Allah; that we associate nothing with Him and that none of us shall make as our Lord any other than Allah." If they reject your invitation, then tell them plainly, "Bear witness that we are Muslims (who worship and surrender to Allah alone)."

Translit: Qul ya ahla alkitabi taAAalaw ila kalimatin sawain baynana wabaynakum alla naAAbuda illa Allaha wala nushrika bihi shayan wala yattakhitha baAAduna baAAdan arbaban min dooni Allahi fain tawallaw faqooloo ishhadoo bianna muslimoona

Translation:

There is among the people of the Book such a person who will return to you intact a heap of gold entrusted to him by you. But there is among them also such a one who will not return even a single dinar entrusted to him by you unless you demand it with importunity. They justify their immoral behaviour, saying, "We are not to be called to account for our behaviour towards the unlettered (gentiles)." Obviously, this is a falsehood of their own which they deliberately ascribe to Allah, knowing well that He has never permitted such a thing. Well, will they not be called to account?

Translit: Wamin ahli alkitabi man in tamanhu biqintarin yuaddihi ilayka waminhum man in tamanhu bideenarin la yuaddihi ilayka illa ma dumta AAalayhi qaiman thalika biannahum qaloo laysa AAalayna fee alommiyyeena sabeelun wayaqooloona AAala Allahi alkathiba wahum yaAAlamoona

Translation:

Disgrace and humiliation have been stamped upon them wherever they may be except in the case when they get refuge under the favour of Allah or under the patronage of other people. They have incurred the wrath of Allah; therefore misery and humiliation have been stamped upon them. This is because they rejected the Revelations of Allah and killed His Prophets without any just cause; this is the consequence of their disobedience and their transgression.

Translit: Duribat AAalayhimu alththillatu ayna ma thuqifoo illa bihablin mina Allahi wahablin mina alnnasi wabaoo bighadabin mina Allahi waduribat AAalayhimu almaskanatu thalika biannahum kanoo yakfuroona biayati Allahi wayaqtuloona alanbiyaa bighayri haqqin thalika bima AAasaw wakanoo yaAAtadoona

Well, there are among you such as shirk fight; if a disaster befalls you, they say, "Allah has been very gracious to us that we did not accompany these people."

You will find that the most hostile of all people in their enmity to the Believers are the Jews and the mushriks; and you will find that the nearest in friendliness to the Believers are those, who say, "We are Christians. " This Is because there are among them some pious scholars and monks and because they are free from pride.

Translit: Latajidanna ashadda alnnasi AAadawatan lillatheena amanoo alyahooda waallatheena ashrakoo walatajidanna aqrabahum mawaddatan lillatheena amanoo allatheena qaloo inna nasara thalika bianna minhum qisseeseena waruhbanan waannahum la yastakbiroona

and remember also that I inspired the Disciples to believe in Me and My Messenger; then they said, `We have believed and bear witness that we are Muslims."

Then We took Our vengeance on them and drowned them in the sea because they had treated Our Signs as false and had grown heedless of them.

Translation:

I will turn away from My Signs the eyes of those who without any sight behave haughtily on the earth. Whatsoever Sign they might see they will never believe in it. If they see the Right Way before them, they will not follow it; but if they see a crooked way, they will follow it. That is because they treated Our Signs as false and were heedless of them.

Translit: Saasrifu AAan ayatiya allatheena yatakabbaroona fee alardi bighayri alhaqqi wain yaraw kulla ayatin la yuminoo biha wain yaraw sabeela alrrushdi la yattakhithoohu sabeelan wain yaraw sabeela alghayyi yattakhithoohu sabeelan thalika biannahum kaththaboo biayatina wakanoo AAanha ghafileena

This is because they have opposed Allah and His Messenger; whoso opposes Allah and His Messenger, surely Allah is very severe for him in retribution.

This happened in accordance with Allahs way that He does not withdraw the favor He bestows on any people unless they themselves change their ways. Allah hears everything and knows everything.

O Prophet! stir the Believers to the fight. If there be twenty men among you, who show fortitude, they will overcome two hundred men, and if there be a hundred such men of you, they will overcome a thousand of the deniers of the Truth, for they are a people who lack understanding.

Translit: Ya ayyuha alnnabiyyu harridi almumineena AAala alqitali in yakun minkum AAishroona sabiroona yaghliboo miatayni wain yakun minkum miatun yaghliboo alfan mina allatheena kafaroo biannahum qawmun la yafqahoona

And if any of the mushriks requests you for protection so that he may come to you (to hear the Word of Allah), give him protection till he hears the Word of Allah; then convey him. to the place of his safety: this should be done because these people do not know the Truth.

Translit: Wain ahadun mina almushrikeena istajaraka faajirhu hatta yasmaAAa kalama Allahi thumma ablighhu mamanahu thalika biannahum qawmun la yaAAlamoona

Do not invent excuses now; you have indeed denied the truth after you had professed belief in it. Even if We pardon some of you, We will surely chastise others of you, for they are the guilty ones"

O Prophet, (it will all be the same) whether you beg forgiveness for such people or not; for Allah will not forgive them even if you beg forgiveness for them seventy times. This is because they have no belief in Allah and His Messenger: and Allah does not show guidance to the wrong-doers.

Translit: Istaghfir lahum aw la tastaghfir lahum in tastaghfir lahum sabAAeena marratan falan yaghfira Allahu lahum thalika biannahum kafaroo biAllahi warasoolihi waAllahu la yahdee alqawma alfasiqeena

Translation:

Indeed Allah has bought from the Believers their persons and their possessions in return for the Gardens;106 they fight in the Way of Allah, kill and are killed. This promise (of the Gardens) is the true pledge of Allah made in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran, and who is more true in fulfilling his promise than Allah? So rejoice in the bargain you have made with Him; and this is the greatest success.

Translit: Inna Allaha ishtara mina almumineena anfusahum waamwalahum bianna lahumu aljannata yuqatiloona fee sabeeli Allahi fayaqtuloona wayuqtaloona waAAdan AAalayhi haqqan fee alttawrati waalinjeeli waalqurani waman awfa biAAahdihi mina Allahi faistabshiroo bibayAAikumu allathee bayaAAtum bihi wathalika huwa alfawzu alAAatheemu

Translation:

It did not behoove the people of Al-Madinah and the Bedouins, dwelling around, to abandon Allahs Messenger and stay at home in order to safeguard their own interests, in utter disregard of him. For, every hardship like thirst, hunger and any other physical ordeal they suffer in the Way of Allah, and every step they take on that Way which enrages the unbelievers, and every act of wreaking vengeance upon the enemies of the truth, is credited in their favor with a good deed for each: surely Allah does not let go unrewarded any deed of the righteous people.

Translit: Ma kana liahli almadeenati waman hawlahum mina alaAArabi an yatakhallafoo AAan rasooli Allahi wala yarghaboo bianfusihim AAan nafsihi thalika biannahum la yuseebuhum thamaon wala nasabun wala makhmasatun fee sabeeli Allahi wala yataoona mawtian yagheethu alkuffara wala yanaloona min AAaduwwin naylan illa kutiba lahum bihi AAamalun salihun inna Allaha la yudeeAAu ajra almuhsineena

Translation:

When a Surah is sent down, they cast looks at one another, asking, "Is anyone watching you?" Then they silently slip away: Allah has turned away their hearts for they are a people who do not understand.

Translit: Waitha ma onzilat sooratun nathara baAAduhum ila baAAdin hal yarakum min ahadin thumma insarafoo sarafa Allahu quloobahum biannahum qawmun la yafqahoona

When, after persisting like this, they took him away with them, and decided to cast him into a dark well, We revealed this to Joseph: "A time will surely come when you will admonish them about this act of theirs; now they do not comprehend its consequences."

As for those, who after persecution, left their homes for the sake of Allah, We will give them a good abode in this world, but the reward in the Next World is far better.

Translit: Waallatheena hajaroo fee Allahi min baAAdi ma thulimoo lanubawwiannahum fee alddunya hasanatan walaajru alakhirati akbaru law kanoo yaAAlamoona

This is because they preferred the life of this world to the life in the Hereafter, and Allah does not show the Way of salvation to those people who are ungrateful!

This is their recompense, for they rejected Our Signs and said, "What! shall we really be raised up anew, when we have been reduced to bones and dust?"

So it is because it is Allah Who brings forth the day from the night and the night from the day and He hears everything and sees everything.

This is so because it is Allah alone Who is the Truth and all others, whom they invoke besides Him, are falsehood, and Allah is the Supreme and the Exalted One.

Those who have believed and done good works, We shall lodge them in the high palaces of Paradise, beneath which canals will be flowing: therein they shall live for ever. What an excellent reward for the doers (of good)

Give good news to those who have believed (in you) that there are great bounties in store for them from Allah,

(They will be answered:) "You have incurred this fate because when you were called towards Allah, the One, you refused to believe, and when others were associated with Allah, you readily believed. Now the Judgment rests with Allah, the High, the Great!"

They met this doom because their Messengers came to them with clear Signs34 and they refused to believe in them. Consequently, Allah seized them. Indeed, He is Mighty and very stern in punishment.

Translit: Thalika biannahum kanat tateehim rusuluhum bialbayyinati fakafaroo faakhathahumu Allahu innahu qawiyyun shadeedu alAAiqabi

But when We let him taste Our mercy after the hardship, he says, "I deserve this, and I do not think that the Hour (of Resurrection) will ever come. But if I am really brought back to my Lord, I shall have good reward with Him, too. " The fact, however, is that We shall certainly tell the disbelievers what they had done, and We shall make them taste a most degrading Chastisement.

Translit: Walain athaqnahu rahmatan minna min baAAdi darraa massathu layaqoolanna hatha lee wama athunnu alssaAAata qaimatan walain rujiAAtu ila rabbee inna lee AAindahu lalhusna falanunabbianna allatheena kafaroo bima AAamiloo walanutheeqannahum min AAathabin ghaleethin

You have met this fate because you took Allah's Revelations in jest, and the life of the world deluded you. Therefore, neither shall they be taken out of Hell today, nor shall they be asked to snake amends and please their Lord."

Translit: Thalikum biannakumu ittakhathtum ayati Allahi huzuwan wagharratkumu alhayatu alddunya faalyawma la yukhrajoona minha wala hum yustaAAtaboona

Translation:

This is because the disbelievers followed falsehood and the believers followed the Truth which has come from their Lord. Thus does Allah make the people aware of their true state.

Translit: Thalika bianna allatheena kafaroo ittabaAAoo albatila waanna allatheena amanoo ittabaAAoo alhaqqa min rabbihim kathalika yadribu Allahu lilnnasi amthalahum

because, they: disapproved of what Allah has sent down. Therefore, Allah rendered their deeds fruitless.

All this happened because they resisted Allah and His Messenger, and whoever resists Allah (should know that) Allah is stern in inflicting punishment.

In their hearts there is greater dread of you than of Allah, because they are a people devoid of understanding.

They will never fight you in a body (in the open field); if at all they fight, they will fight in fortified strongholds, or from behind walls. They are very intense in mutual enmity. You think that they are united, whereas their hearts are divided. This is because they are a people devoid of sense.

Translit: La yuqatiloonakum jameeAAan illa fee quran muhassanatin aw min warai judurin basuhum baynahum shadeedun tahsabuhum jameeAAan waquloobuhum shatta thalika biannahum qawmun la yaAAqiloona

This is because they believed and then they disbelieved. Therefore, a seal has been set on their hearts, and so they do not understand anything.

They deserved this fate because their Messengers came to them with clear Signs, but they said, "Shall mere human beings show us guidance?" So they refused to believe and turned away; then Allah also became indifferent to them, and Allah is indeed Independent and worthy of all praise.
