In their hearts is a disease which Allah has increased all the more and a painful doom is in store for them for the lie they utter.

Translit: fee qaloobihm maraDuN fazaada humullah marada wa lahum eadhabuN ealiym bima kaAnu yak.zibuwn

The lightning terrifies them as if it were going to snatch away their eyesight from them. When they see light, they move on a little further and When it becomes dark for them, they stand still. Had Allah so willed, He could have deprived them totally of their hearing and their sight. Most surely Allah has power over everything.

But even after seeing these Signs your hearts hardened and became as hard as rocks; nay, even harder than rocks. For there are some rocks out of which springs gush forth, and others which split open, and water issues out of them; then there are some which tumble down for fear of Allah. And Allah is not unaware of what you are doing.

Translit: Thumma qasat quloobukum min baAAdi thalika fahiya kaalhijarati aw ashaddu qaswatan wainna mina alhijarati lama yatafajjaru minhu alanharu wainna minha lama yashshaqqaqu fayakhruju minhu almao wainna minha lama yahbitu min khashyati Allahi wama Allahu bighafilin AAamma taAAmaloona

And whenever a Messenger came to them from Allah, confirming that Scripture which they already possessed, some from among the people of the Book threw the Book of Allah behind their backs as though they knew nothing about it.

And remember that We made this House (the Kabah) the centre nd sanctuary for mankind and enjoined the people to dedicate to worship the place where Abraham used to stand for prayer, and We urged Abraham and Ismail to keep My House pure for those who would go round it and those who would retire to it for devotion and prayer and for those who would bow down and prostrate themselves there in worhsip.126

Or take the case of the one who passed by a township that had fallen down upon its roofs. He exclaimed, "How shall Allah bring back to life this township that has become dead?" At this Allah caused him to die and he lay dead for a hundred years. Then Allah brought him back to life and asked him, "How long have you lain here?" He answered. "I might have lain here for a day or a few hours." Allah said, "Nay, you have been lying here in this state for a hundred years: now, just have a look at your food and your drink; they have not become spoiled in the least. Then have a look at your ass, (and see that his very bones have become rotten) and We have done this in order to make you a Sign for the people. Look, how We raise up the skeleton and set the bones (of the ass) and cover them with flesh and (put breath of life into them)." And when the Reality became manifest to him, he said, "I know

Translit: Aw kaallathee marra AAala qaryatin wahiya khawiyatun AAala AAurooshiha qala anna yuhyee hathihi Allahu baAAda mawtiha faamatahu Allahu miata AAamin thumma baAAathahu qala kam labithta qala labithtu yawman aw baAAda yawmin qala bal labithta miata AAamin faonthur ila taAAamika washarabika lam yatasannah waonthur ila himarika walinajAAalaka ayatan lilnnasi waonthur ila alAAithami kayfa nunshizuha thumma naksooha lahman falamma tabayyana lahu qala aAAlamu anna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

Translation:

O Believers, do not spoil your charity by taunts and injury to the recipients like the one who practises charity to be seen by men, while he neither believes in Allah nor in the Last Day. His charity may be likened to the rainfall on a rock which had only a thin layer of soil upon it. When heavy rain fell on it, the whole of the soil washed away and the rock was left bare Such people do not gain the reward they imagine they have earned by their seeming charity; Allah does not show the Right Way to the ungrateful.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tubtiloo sadaqatikum bialmanni waalatha kaallathee yunfiqu malahu riaa alnnasi wala yuminu biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri famathaluhu kamathali safwanin AAalayhi turabun faasabahu wabilun fatarakahu saldan la yaqdiroona AAala shayin mimma kasaboo waAllahu la yahdee alqawma alkafireena

Translation:

Afterwards when she delivered her child, she said, "Lord, I have delivered a girl" --- and Allah knew very well what she had delivered --- "and the male is not (handicapped) like the female. As it is, I have named her Mary, and I implore Thy protection for her and for her future offspring from the mischief of Satan, the Accursed."

Before this have passed many such Prophets in whose company large bands of worshippers of Allah have fought (in His way); they never lost heart during the adversities that befell them in the way of Allah; nor did they show any weakness; nor did they submit (to falsehood: ) Allah likes the people who show fortitude.

Translit: Wakaayyin min nabiyyin qatala maAAahu ribbiyyoona katheerun fama wahanoo lima asabahum fee sabeeli Allahi wama daAAufoo wama istakanoo waAllahu yuhibbu alssabireena

Translation:

O Believers, do not behave like disbelievers: when their brethren are on a journey or take part in a battle, (and ever meet with some accident) they say, "Had they stayed with us, they would not have died nor would have been slain." Allah makes such things a cause of grief and anguish in their hearts: for in fact, it is Allah who ordains both life and death; Allah is watching all that you do.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la takoonoo kaallatheena kafaroo waqaloo liikhwanihim itha daraboo fee alardi aw kanoo ghuzzan law kanoo AAindana ma matoo wama qutiloo liyajAAala Allahu thalika hasratan fee quloobihim waAllahu yuhyee wayumeetu waAllahu bima taAAmaloona baseerun

And if you are blessed with grace from Allah, they say, as though there never had been any friendly relations between you and them "We wish we had also accompanied them and thus would have gained our end."

Translit: Walain asabakum fadlun mina Allahi layaqoolanna kaan lam takun baynakum wabaynahu mawaddatun ya laytanee kuntu maAAahum faafooza fawzan AAatheeman

Translation:

it is not within your power to be perfectly equitable in your treatment with all your wives, even if you wish to be so; therefore, (in order to satisfy the dictates of Divine Law) do not lean wholly towards one wife so as to leave the other in a state of suspense. If you behave righteously and fear Allah, you will find Allah Forgiving and Compassionate.

Translit: Walan tastateeAAoo an taAAdiloo bayna alnnisai walaw harastum fala tameeloo kulla almayli fatatharooha kaalmuAAallaqati wain tuslihoo watattaqoo fainna Allaha kana ghafooran raheeman

Translation:

O Believers, when you rise to offer the Salat, you must wash your faces and hands and arms up to the elbows and wipe your heads with wet hands and wash your feet up to the ankles; and if you have become unclean, cleanse yourselves with a full bath; if, however, you are sick or are on a journey, or if any of you has relieved himself or if you have "touched" women and you can find no water, then cleanse yourselves with pure dust: strike your palms on it and wipe your hands and faces with it. Allah does not will to make life hard for you, but He wills to purify you and complete His blessing upon you so that you may show gratitude.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo itha qumtum ila alssalati faighsiloo wujoohakum waaydiyakum ila almarafiqi waimsahoo biruoosikum waarjulakum ila alkaAAbayni wain kuntum junuban faittahharoo wain kuntum marda aw AAala safarin aw jaa ahadun minkum mina alghaiti aw lamastumu alnnisaa falam tajidoo maan fatayammamoo saAAeedan tayyiban faimsahoo biwujoohikum waaydeekum minhu ma yureedu Allahu liyajAAala AAalaykum min harajin walakin yureedu liyutahhirakum waliyutimma niAAmatahu AAalaykum laAAallakum tash

Translation:

That was why We prescribed this for the children of Israel: "He who killed any person, unless it be a person guilty of manslaughter, or of spreading chaos in the land, should be looked upon as though he had slain all mankind, and he who saved one life should be regarded as though he had saved the lives of all mankind." But the majority of them went on committing excesses in the land even after Our Messengers came to them one after the other with clear directions.

Translit: Min ajli thalika katabna AAala banee israeela annahu man qatala nafsan bighayri nafsin aw fasadin fee alardi fakaannama qatala alnnasa jameeAAan waman ahyaha fakaannama ahya alnnasa jameeAAan walaqad jaa thum rusuluna bialbayyinati thumma inna katheeran minhum baAAda thalika fee alardi lamusrifoona

Translation:

O Believers, do not kill game while you are in the state of ihram. And, whoever of you kills an animal intentionally, he small have to make an offering of a head of cattle equivalent to it, which will be decided by two just men from among you. This offering shall have to be sent to the Ka`bah or, failing this, he shall have to feed indigent people by way of expiation or compensate for it by equivalent fasting, so that he may taste the evil consequence of what he did. Allah has forgiven what has gone before, but if anyone repeats the same, Allah will inflict retribution on him: Allah is All-Mighty and All-Powerful to inflict retribution.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la taqtuloo alssayda waantum hurumun waman qatalahu minkum mutaAAammidan fajazaon mithlu ma qatala mina alnnaAAami yahkumu bihi thawa AAadlin minkum hadyan baligha alkaAAbati aw kaffaratun taAAamu masakeena aw AAadlu thalika siyaman liyathooqa wabala amrihi AAafa Allahu AAamma salafa waman AAada fayantaqimu Allahu minhu waAllahu AAazeezun thoo intiqamin

Translation:

Allah has made the sacred House of the Kabah a means of stabilizing the (community) life of the people ; the sacred month and the animal offerings and the animals which are collared as a mark of dedication (have also been made conducive to the same object) so that you may know that Allah is fully aware of all that is in the heavens and the earth and that He has perfect knowledge of everything.

Translit: JaAAala Allahu alkaAAbata albayta alharama qiyaman lilnnasi waalshshahra alharama waalhadya waalqalaida thalika litaAAlamoo anna Allaha yaAAlamu ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi waanna Allaha bikulli shayin AAaleemun

accordingly, they have rejected as false the Truth that has come to them now. Well, they will receive some news about what they have been ridiculing so far.

O Muhammad, ask them, "Should we invoke, instead of Allah, those, who can neither benefit us nor harm us? And should we turn upon ow heels after Allah has shown us the Guidance? Should we put ourselves in the sad plight of the man, whom the satans have misled to wander over the desert in a bewildered state of mind, while his companions are calling aloud, `Come to us: here is the right way?" Say, "In fact, the right guidance is the Guidance of Allah and He has enjoined us to surrender to the Lord of the universe

Translit: Qul anadAAoo min dooni Allahi ma la yanfaAAuna wala yadurruna wanuraddu AAala aAAqabina baAAda ith hadana Allahu kaallathee istahwathu alshshayateenu fee alardi hayrana lahu ashabun yadAAoonahu ila alhuda itina qul inna huda Allahi huwa alhuda waomirna linuslima lirabbi alAAalameena

Yet they set up the Jinn as partners with Allah, whereas He is their Creator; they have also invented for Him sons and daughters without having any knowledge whereas He is absolutely free from and exalted far above the things they say.

Translit: WajaAAaloo lillahi shurakaa aljinna wakhalaqahum wakharaqoo lahu baneena wabanatin bighayri AAilmin subhanahu wataAAala AAamma yasifoona

So (the fact is that) whomsoever Allah wills to guide aright, He makes his breast wide open to Islam, and whomsoever He wills to let go astray, He makes his breast narrow and squeezes it so tight that (at the very idea of Islam) he begins to feel as if his soul were climbing up towards the sky. Thus Allah sets the impurity (caused by their deviation from the Way of Islam) over those who do not believe,

Translit: Faman yuridi Allahu an yahdiyahu yashrah sadrahu lilislami waman yurid an yudillahu yajAAal sadrahu dayyiqan harajan kaannama yassaAAAAadu fee alssamai kathalika yajAAalu Allahu alrrijsa AAala allatheena la yuminoona

Translation:

Most surely they became losers, who, in their folly and ignorance killed their own children, and made unlawful what Allah had provided them as sustenance falsely ascribing prohibitions to Allah. Surely they went astray and were not at all rightly guided.

Translit: Qad khasira allatheena qataloo awladahum safahan bighayri AAilmin waharramoo ma razaqahumu Allahu iftiraan AAala Allahi qad dalloo wama kanoo muhtadeena

Translation:

who had made their religion a pastime, sport and enjoyment, and who had been deluded by the worldly life. Allah says. `Today We will forget them just as they forgot the meeting of this Day and rejected Our Revelations."

Translit: Allatheena ittakhathoo deenahum lahwan walaAAiban wagharrathumu alhayatu alddunya faalyawma nansahum kama nasoo liqaa yawmihim hatha wama kanoo biayatina yajhadoona

Ultimately, We saved Hud and his companions with Our Mercy, and We cut off the roots of those who treated Our Revelations as lies, and did not intend to believe.

Translit: Faanjaynahu waallatheena maAAahu birahmatin minna waqataAAna dabira allatheena kaththaboo biayatina wama kanoo mumineena

Ultimately the very people, who treated Shu`aib as an impostor, were utterly ruined.

And after them We gave as heritage to those who had been abased and kept low, the eastern and western parts of that land, which had been blessed bountifully by Us. Thus the promise of prosperity that your Lord had made with the Israelites was fulfilled, because they had shown fortitude. And We destroyed all that Pharaoh and his people had constructed and raised up.

Translit: Waawrathna alqawma allatheena kanoo yustadAAafoona mashariqa alardi wamagharibaha allatee barakna feeha watammat kalimatu rabbika alhusna AAala banee israeela bima sabaroo wadammarna ma kana yasnaAAu firAAawnu waqawmuhu wama kanoo yaAArishoona

Do they also remember the time when We shook the Mountain and spread over them as though it were an umbrella, and they thought that it was going to fall upon them; (then We said to them), "Hold fast the Book We are giving you, and keep in mind what it contains: it is expected that you will refrain from wrong ways."

Translit: Waith nataqna aljabala fawqahum kaannahu thullatun wathannoo annahu waqiAAun bihim khuthoo ma ataynakum biquwwatin waothkuroo ma feehi laAAallakum tattaqoona

And this is a tact that there are many jinns and human beings whom We Dave created (as if) for Hell.140 they have hearts but they do not think with them; they have eyes but they do not see with them; they have ears but they do not Hear with them. They are like animals; nay.,even worse, for they are the people who have become utterly heedless.

Translit: Walaqad tharana lijahannama katheeran mina aljinni waalinsi lahum quloobun la yafqahoona biha walahum aAAyunun la yubsiroona biha walahum athanun la yasmaAAoona biha olaika kaalanAAami bal hum adallu olaika humu alghafiloona

Translation:

These people ask you: "Well, when is the Hour of Resurrection coming?" Say, "Its knowledge is with my Lord alone: He Himself will disclose it at the proper time: that Hour will weigh heavily on the heavens and the earth. It will come on you all of a sudden. " They ask you about it as though you have been in search for it. Say; "Its knowledge is with Allah alone, but most of the people do not know this. "

Translit: Yasaloonaka AAani alssaAAati ayyana mursaha qul innama AAilmuha AAinda rabbee la yujalleeha liwaqtiha illa huwa thaqulat fee alssamawati waalardi la tateekum illa baghtatan yasaloonaka kaannaka hafiyyun AAanha qul innama AAilmuha AAinda Allahi walakinna akthara alnnasi la yaAAlamoona

Translation:

But when Allah gave them a child of sound body and sound mind, they both began to associate partners with Allah in His favor, but Allah is exalted far above what they associate with Him.

Translit: Falamma atahuma salihan jaAAala lahu shurakaa feema atahuma fataAAala Allahu AAamma yushrikoona

Translation:

Have they feet that they should walk with them? Or have they hands that they should hold with them? Or have they eyes that they should see with them? Or have they ears that they should hear with them? Tell them, O Muhammad. "Call up the partners you have set up; then all of you sit down together and plot against me and give me no respite."

Translit: Alahum arjulun yamshoona biha am lahum aydin yabtishoona biha am lahum aAAyunun yubsiroona biha am lahum athanun yasmaAAoona biha quli odAAoo shurakaakum thumma keedooni fala tunthirooni

they were arguing with you concerning the truth, though it had become quite evident; they were filled with awe as if they were being driven towards death with their eyes wide open.

Do not be like those who said, "We have heard," but have not listened to it,

Translit: Wala takoonoo kaallatheena qaloo samiAAna wahum la yasmaAAoona

Translation:

But now there is no reason why He should not send torment on them, when they are barring the way to the Masjid-i-Haram whereas they are not its lawful guardians. Indeed the God fearing people alone can be its lawful guardians, but most of the people do not know this thing:

Translit: Wama lahum alla yuAAaththibahumu Allahu wahum yasuddoona AAani almasjidi alharami wama kanoo awliyaahu in awliyaohu illa almuttaqoona walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona

Translation:

And what is their "prayer" near the House of Allah ?: it is nothing but whistling and clapping of hands. So now take the chastisement and taste the torment in requital for your persistent denial of the Truth.

Translit: Wama kana salatuhum AAinda albayti illa mukaan watasdiyatan fathooqoo alAAathaba bima kuntum takfuroona

And do not behave like those who marched arrogantly out of their homes with great pomp and show for the people to see. They debar the people from the Way of Allah. For whatever they are doing is completely within Allahs grasp.

Translit: Wala takoonoo kaallatheena kharajoo min diyarihim bataran wariaa alnnasi wayasuddoona AAan sabeeli Allahi waAllahu bima yaAAmaloona muheetun

Translation:

You are behaving just like those who went before you: they had more power than you, and possessed greater riches and had more children than you: they had enjoyed their portion of the good things of the worldly life and you, too, have enjoyed your portion of the good things like them: you are also engaged in idle discussions like the discussions they held. Consequently in the end everything they did, proved vain in this world and shall be vain in the Next World: surely they are the people who are the losers.

Translit: Kaallatheena min qablikum kanoo ashadda minkum quwwatan waakthara amwalan waawladan faistamtaAAoo bikhalaqihim faistamtaAAtum bikhalaqikum kama istamtaAAa allatheena min qablikum bikhalaqihim wakhudtum kaallathee khadoo olaika habitat aAAmaluhum fee alddunya waalakhirati waolaika humu alkhasiroona

Translation:

Strange is the behavior of man! When he is in affliction, he calls Us, standing or sitting or lying down, but when We remove his affliction from him, he behaves as if he had never called Us at the time when affliction came upon him. Thus the evil deeds of such transgressors have been made seeming fair to them.

Translit: Waitha massa alinsana alddurru daAAana lijanbihi aw qaAAidan aw qaiman falamma kashafna AAanhu durrahu marra kaan lam yadAAuna ila durrin massahu kathalika zuyyina lilmusrifeena ma kanoo yaAAmaloona

Translation:

O mankind, We destroyed before you those communities (which were in power in their time,) when they adopted the attitude of transgression, for their Messengers came to them with clear signs but they would not believe in them. This is how We recompense the criminals for their crimes.

Translit: Walaqad ahlakna alquroona min qablikum lamma thalamoo wajaathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati wama kanoo liyuminoo kathalika najzee alqawma almujrimeena

Translation:

This worldly life (which has so enamored you that you have become neglectful of Our Signs) may be likened to the produce of the earth: We sent rain-water from the sky, and the crops of which man and animals eat, grew up luxuriantly. Then at that very time, when the land was at its best, and the crops had ripened and decked out and the owners were presuming that they would be able to benefit from them, Our Command came all of a sudden by night or by day, and We destroyed it so thoroughly as though nothing had existed there the previous day. Thus We expound Our Signs in detail for the consideration of those people who are thoughtful.

Translit: Innama mathalu alhayati alddunya kamain anzalnahu mina alssamai faikhtalata bihi nabatu alardi mimma yakulu alnnasu waalanAAamu hatta itha akhathati alardu zukhrufaha waizzayyanat wathanna ahluha annahum qadiroona AAalayha ataha amruna laylan aw naharan fajaAAalnaha haseedan kaan lam taghna bialamsi kathalika nufassilu alayati liqawmin yatafakkaroona

Translation:

And those who have earned evil deeds shall have their recompense according to the evil they earned: disgrace shall set over them: there shall be none to protect them from Allah: their faces shall be covered with such gloom35 as if the black veils of the night had fallen over them: they deserve Hell, wherein they shall abide for ever.

Translit: Waallatheena kasaboo alssayyiati jazao sayyiatin bimithliha watarhaquhum thillatun ma lahum mina Allahi min AAasimin kaannama oghshiyat wujoohuhum qitaAAan mina allayli muthliman olaika ashabu alnnari hum feeha khalidoona

Translation:

(Today these people are intoxicated with the life of this world but) on the Day when Allah will muster them they will feel as if they had stayed (in this world) for only an hour or so in order to have acquaintance with one another. (At that time they will realize that) they who disbelieved in their meeting with Allah were losers indeed and were not rightly guided.

Translit: Wayawma yahshuruhum kaan lam yalbathoo illa saAAatan mina alnnahari yataAAarafoona baynahum qad khasira allatheena kaththaboo biliqai Allahi wama kanoo muhtadeena

Note it well that all the dwellers of the heavens and of the earth belong to Allah: and those who invoke, besides Allah, partners (they have set up with Him) follow nothing but surmises and merely indulge in guess-works.

Recite to them Noahs story, when he said to his people; "O my brethren, if it has become intolerable for you that I should dwell in your midst and preach to you the Revelations of Allah, then (note it well that) I have put my trust in Allah. You may muster all the partners you have set up and come to a united decision about me and consider your scheme well so that no aspect of the matter should remain hidden from you. Then bring that into action against me without giving me any respite.

Translit: Waotlu AAalayhim nabaa noohin ith qala liqawmihi ya qawmi in kana kabura AAalaykum maqamee watathkeeree biayati Allahi faAAala Allahi tawakkaltu faajmiAAoo amrakum washurakaakum thumma la yakun amrukum AAalaykum ghummatan thumma iqdoo ilayya wala tunthirooni

Translation:

They were unable to frustrate Allah on the earth, nor had they protectors to defend them against Allah. Now they shall be given double chastisement: for they would neither listen to others nor see the Truth for themselves.

Translit: Olaika lam yakoonoo muAAjizeena fee alardi wama kana lahum min dooni Allahi min awliyaa yudaAAafu lahumu alAAathabu ma kanoo yastateeAAoona alssamAAa wama kanoo yubsiroona

Translation:

These two groups may be likened to two men, one of whom is blind and deaf, and the other can see and hear. Can they be alike and equal? Do you not learn a lesson( from this example)?

As the Ark was moving on with them amid waves like mountains, Noah cried out to his son, who was at a distance, "My son! Embark with us and be not with the unbelievers."

Translit: Wahiya tajree bihim fee mawjin kaaljibali wanada noohunu ibnahu wakana fee maAAzilin ya bunayya irkab maAAana wala takun maAAa alkafireena

as if they had never flourished there. Listen! Thamud disbelieved their Lord. Listen! Cast away were Thamud.

Listen! Cast away were also the people of Madian as were Thamud cast away.

When she heard about their cunning talk, she invited them to a banquet at her house and got ready pillows for the party26 and placed before each of them a knife. Then, (when they were engaged in cutting fruit) she made a sign to Joseph. as if to say, "Come out before them." When they caught sight of him, they were so amazed that they cut their hands, and exclaimed spontaneously, "Good God! He is no man; he is a noble angel!"

Translit: Falamma samiAAat bimakrihinna arsalat ilayhinna waaAAtadat lahunna muttakaan waatat kulla wahidatin minhunna sikkeenan waqalati okhruj AAalayhinna falamma raaynahu akbarnahu waqattaAAna aydiyahunna waqulna hasha lillahi ma hatha basharan in hatha illa malakun kareemun

Ask them, "Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth ?" Say, "Allah." Then say to them, "When this is the fact, have you then made beside Him such deities your protectors as can do neither good nor harm even to themselves ?" Say, "Are the blind man and the seeing man alike? Are light and darkness alike?" And if it is not so, have the partners, they have set up with Allah, created anything like His creation so as to make the matter of creation doubtful for them? Say, Allah alone is the Creator of everything; and He is the Unique, the Almighty.

Translit: Qul man rabbu alssamawati waalardi quli Allahu qul afaittakhathtum min doonihi awliyaa la yamlikoona lianfusihim nafAAan wala darran qul hal yastawee alaAAma waalbaseeru am hal tastawee alththulumatu waalnnooru am jaAAaloo lillahi shurakaa khalaqoo kakhalqihi fatashabaha alkhalqu AAalayhim quli Allahu khaliqu kulli shayin wahuwa alwahidu alqahharu

Translation:

What! are they (so audacious that they are) setting up partners with Him Who is watching minutely over the actions of each and every soul? O Prophet say to them, "(If God has Himself set them up as His partners) just tell me their names. Do you mean to inform Him of something new that He Himself is unaware of on His earth? Or do you merely utter empty words? Indeed for those who rejected the Message their fraud has been made to appear fair to them and they have been debarred froth the Right Way: and there is none to show the Right Way to those whom Allah lets go astray.

Translit: Afaman huwa qaimun AAala kulli nafsin bima kasabat wajaAAaloo lillahi shurakaa qul sammoohum am tunabbioonahu bima la yaAAlamu fee alardi am bithahirin mina alqawli bal zuyyina lillatheena kafaroo makruhum wasuddoo AAani alssabeeli waman yudlili Allahu fama lahu min hadin

Translation:

We do not send down angels in this way. When they come down, they come down with truth, and then the people are not given respite.

Translit: Ma nunazzilu almalaikata illa bialhaqqi wama kanoo ithan munthareena

Translation:

When the people, who had committed shirk in this world, will see those whom they had made associates with Allah, they will say, "Our Lord! here are those associate-deities whom we used to invoke beside Thee". At this their deities will retort, "You are liars."

Translit: Waitha raa allatheena ashrakoo shurakaahum qaloo rabbana haolai shurakaona allatheena kunna nadAAoo min doonika faalqaw ilayhimu alqawla innakum lakathiboona

Translation:

Do not behave like that woman who had spun yarn laboriously and then had herself broken it into pieces. You make your mutual oaths a means of mutual deceit in your affairs so that one people might take undue advantage over the other whereas Allah puts you to trial by these pledges. Allah will certainly reveal to you the truth about all your differences on the Day of Resurrection.

Translit: Wala takoonoo kaallatee naqadat ghazlaha min baAAdi quwwatin ankathan tattakhithoona aymanakum dakhalan baynakum an takoona ommatun hiya arba min ommatin innama yablookumu Allahu bihi walayubayyinanna lakum yawma alqiyamati ma kuntum feehi takhtalifoona

Translation:

Proclaim, "This is the Truth from your Lord: now whosoever will, he may accept it and whosoever will, he may reject it.â€ (As for those who reject this,) We have prepared for such workers of iniquity a fire whose flames have encircled them. If they will ask for water there, they will be treated with such a drink as will have its residue like that of oil and burn their lips: what an evil drink and what an evil abode!

Zul-Qarnain said, "This is a mercy from my Lord; but when the time of my Lord's promise shall come, He will level it to dust and the promise of my Lord is true.â€

We did not give them such bodies as could survive without food nor were they immortal.

Recall to mind the time when We assigned the site of this House (the Ka`bah) to Abraham, saying, "Do not associate anything as a partner with Me; keep My House clean and pure for those who go round it and for those who stand and bow down and prostrate (in worship),

Translation:

Become Allah's sincere servants, turning away from everything and without associating any partner with Him, for the one who associates a partner with Allah, becomes like him who has fallen from heaven. Then either the birds will snatch him away or the wind will blow him off to a place where he will be shattered into pieces.

Translit: Hunafaa lillahi ghayra mushrikeena bihi waman yushrik biAllahi fakaannama kharra mina alssamai fatakhtafuhu alttayru aw tahwee bihi alrreehu fee makanin saheeqin

Translation:

There are (the ruins of) many a wicked habitation which We destroyed: today they are lying upside down upon their roofs. How many a well has been rendered useless, and how many a lofty castle is lying in ruins!

Translit: Fakaayyin min qaryatin ahlaknaha wahiya thalimatun fahiya khawiyatun AAala AAurooshiha wabirin muAAattalatin waqasrin masheedin

These people are demanding of you to hasten the chastisement.92 Allah will never fail to fulfill His threat, but a day with your Lord is equal to a thousand years as you reckon.

There has been many a wicked habitation, whom at first I gave respite and then seized it, and all shall have to return to Me.

O people, who have believed, bow down and prostrate yourselves before Allah, worship your Lord and do righteous deeds: it may be that you attain true success.

Translation:

Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth: His light (in the universe) may be likened (to the light of) a lamp in a niche: the lamp is in a glass shade: the glass shade is like a glittering star and lamp is lit with the olive oil of a blessed tree which is neither eastern nor western: its oil is (so fine) as if it were going to shine forth by itself though no fire touched it (as though all the means of increasing) light upon light (were provided ); Allah guides to His light whomever He wills. He cites parables to make the Message clear to the people; He has perfect knowledge of everything.

Translit: Allahu nooru alssamawati waalardi mathalu noorihi kamishkatin feeha misbahun almisbahu fee zujajatin alzzujajatu kaannaha kawkabun durriyyun yooqadu min shajaratin mubarakatin zaytoonatin la sharqiyyatin wala gharbiyyatin yakadu zaytuha yudeeo walaw lam tamsashu narun noorun AAala noorin yahdee Allahu linoorihi man yashao wayadribu Allahu alamthala lilnnasi waAllahu bikulli shayin AAaleemun

Translation:

Can you take the responsibility of guiding such a one aright? Do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like the cattle; nay, even worse than the cattle.

Translit: Am tahsabu anna aktharahum yasmaAAoona aw yaAAqiloona in hum illa kaalanAAami bal hum adallu sabeelan

Translation:

We inspired Moses with the Command: "Smite the sea with your staff." The sea parted forthwith and its each part stood like a mighty mountain.

Translit: Faawhayna ila moosa ani idrib biAAasaka albahra fainfalaqa fakana kullu firqin kaalttawdi alAAatheemi

Translation:

Just cast down your staff." No sooner did Moses see the staff writhing like a snake than he turned about and fled, without even looking behind. "O Moses fear not: the Messengers never feel afraid in My Presence,

When the queen arrived, she was asked, "Is your throne like this?" She replied, "It is just the same. We had already known this and we had surrendered (or we had become Muslims)."

Translation:

And (it was commanded), "Cast down your staff." When Moses saw that the staff was writhing like a snake, he turned about and fled and did not even look behind. (It was said,) "Moses, come back and have no fear: you are quite safe.

Translit: Waan alqi AAasaka falamma raaha tahtazzu kaannaha jannun walla mudbiran walam yuAAaqqib ya moosa aqbil wala takhaf innaka mina alamineena

Translation:

Then it will be said to them. "Call now on those whom you held as (Allah's) partners." They will call them, but will get no answer and they will see the torment. Would that they had followed the guidance!

Translit: Waqeela odAAoo shurakaakum fadaAAawhum falam yastajeeboo lahum waraawoo alAAathaba law annahum kanoo yahtadoona

Translation:

Now the same people who yearned for his lot the day before, began to say, "Alas! We had forgotten that Allah extends the provisions for whom He wills of His servants and restricts it for whom He wills. If Allah had not been gracious to us, He would have sunk us also underground. Alas! We did not remember that the disbelievers do never prosper."

Translit: Waasbaha allatheena tamannaw makanahu bialamsi yaqooloona waykaanna Allaha yabsutu alrrizqa liman yashao min AAibadihi wayaqdiru lawla an manna Allahu AAalayna lakhasafa bina waykaannahu la yuflihu alkafiroona

Translation:

There is among the people such a one, who says, "We have believed in Allah", but when he was persecuted in the cause of Allah, he deemed the persecution by the people as the punishment of Allah. Now if there comes help and victory from your Lord, the same person Will say, "We were with you". Is not Allah fully aware of what is in the hearts of the people of the world?

Translit: Wamina alnnasi man yaqoolu amanna biAllahi faitha oothiya fee Allahi jaAAala fitnata alnnasi kaAAathabi Allahi walain jaa nasrun min rabbika layaqoolunna inna kunna maAAakum awalaysa Allahu biaAAlama bima fee sudoori alAAalameena

Translation:

And We destroyed Korah and Pharaoh and Haman. Moses came to them with clear Signs, but they assumed arrogance in the land, whereas hey could not outstrip Us.

Translit: Waqaroona wafirAAawna wahamana walaqad jaahum moosa bialbayyinati faistakbaroo fee alardi wama kanoo sabiqeena

Translation:

How many creatures are there that do not carry their provisions with them: Allah provides for them and for you too: He hears everything and knows everything.

Translit: Wakaayyin min dabbatin la tahmilu rizqaha Allahu yarzuquha waiyyakum wahuwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu

Translation:

He draws out a comparison for you from your own selves: Are there among the slaves that you possess any such slaves also who may be sharing with you equally the wealth that We have given you, and you fear them as you fear one another among yourselves? Thus do We present the Revelations clearly for those who use their common sense.

Translit: Daraba lakum mathalan min anfusikum hal lakum mi mma malakat aymanukum min shurakaa fee ma razaqnakum faantum feehi sawaon takhafoonahum kakheefatikum anfusakum kathalika nufassilu alayati liqawmin yaAAqiloona

Translation:

When Our Revelations are recited to huh, he turns his face away disdainfully as though he did not hear theta, as though his ears were deaf. Well, give him the good news of a painful torment.

Translit: Waitha tutla AAalayhi ayatuna walla mustakbiran kaan lam yasmaAAha kaanna fee othunayhi waqran fabashshirhu biAAathabin aleemin

Translation:

And when a wave ( in the sea) covers them like the mountains, they invoke Allah making their faith pure for Him alone. Then, when He brings them safe to the land, some one among them follows the middle ways and does not deny Our Signs except the one who is treacherous and ungrateful.

Translit: Waitha ghashiyahum mawjun kaalththulali daAAawoo Allaha mukhliseena lahu alddeena falamma najjahum ila albarri faminhum muqtasidun wama yajhadu biayatina illa kullu khattarin kafoorin

Translation:

who are ever reluctant to join you. When there is danger, they look towards you, their eyes rolling like the one who is fainting, being on the point of death. But when the danger is gone, they come out to greet you with their scissor-like sharp tongues in greed for gains. These people have not believed at all; so Allah has made all their works fruitless, and this is an easy thing for Allah.

Translit: Ashihhatan AAalaykum faitha jaa alkhawfu raaytahum yanthuroona ilayka tadooru aAAyunuhum kaallathee yughsha AAalayhi mina almawti faitha thahaba alkhawfu salaqookum bialsinatin hidadin ashihhatan AAala alkhayri olaika lam yuminoo faahbata Allahu aAAmalahum wakana thalika AAala Allahi yaseeran

Translit: Ya nisaa alnnabiyyi lastunna kaahadin mina alnnisai ini ittaqaytunna fala takhdaAAna bialqawli fayatmaAAa allathee fee qalbihi maradun waqulna qawlan maAAroofan

O you who have believed, do not be like those who had realigned Moses; then Allah cleared him of what they said of him, and he was honorable in the sight of Allah.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la takoonoo kaallatheena athaw moosa fabarraahu Allahu mimma qaloo wakana AAinda Allahi wajeehan

Translation:

They made for him whatever he desired: lofty edifies, images, bowls like troughs and immovable heavy cooking-pots. O people of David, work gratefully, only a few of My servants are grateful.

Translit: YaAAmaloona lahu ma yashao min mahareeba watamatheela wajifanin kaaljawabi waqudoorin rasiyatin iAAmaloo ala dawooda shukran waqaleelun min AAibadiya alshshakooru

Translation:

Say to them, "Just show me those whom you have made associates-with Him." Nay, never! Allah alone is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

Translit: Qul arooniya allatheena alhaqtum bihi shurakaa kalla bal huwa Allahu alAAazeezu alhakeemu

Translation:

(O Prophet,) say to them, "Have you ever seen those associates of yours whom you invoke instead of Allah? Tell me: What have they created in the earth, or what is their share in the heavens?" (If they cannot tell this, ask them :) "Have We given them a writing affording a clear sanction (for their shirk)?" Nay, but these wicked people are only beguiling one another with delusions.

Translit: Qul araaytum shurakaakumu allatheena tadAAoona min dooni Allahi aroonee matha khalaqoo mina alardi am lahum shirkun fee alssamawati am ataynahum kitaban fahum AAala bayyinatin minhu bal in yaAAidu alththalimoona baAAduhum baAAdan illa ghurooran

And the Moon: We have determined stages for it till it again becomes like an old dry palm-branch.

Translit: Waalqamara qaddarnahu manazila hatta AAada kaalAAurjooni alqadeemi

(It will be commanded): "Gather all the unjust people and their associates together, and those gods whom they used to worship

Its buds are like the heads of satans.

Should We treat those who believe and do good works like those who spread mischief in the earth? Should We treat the pious as the sinners?

Translit: Am najAAalu allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati kaalmufsideena fee alardi am najAAalu almuttaqeena kaalfujjari

Translation:

And O Prophet, goodness and evil are not equal. Repel evil with what is best. You will see that he with whom you had enmity, has become your closest friend.

Translit: Wala tastawee alhasanatu wala alssayyiatu idfaAA biallatee hiya ahsanu faitha allathee baynaka wabaynahu AAadawatun kaannahu waliyyun hameemun

Among His signs are the ships which look like mountains in the sea.

Translit: Wamin ayatihi aljawari fee albahri kaalaAAlami

Then neither did the heaven weep on them nor the earth, and they were not given the least respite.

like the dregs of oil. It will boil in the belly

Translation:

before whom the Revelations of Allah are recited and he hears them, yet he persists in his disbelief arrogantly as if he never heard them. Give such a one the good news of a painful torment.

Translit: YasmaAAu ayati Allahi tutla AAalayhi thumma yusirru mustakbiran kaan lam yasmaAAha fabashshirhu biAAathabin aleemin

Translation:

Do those who have committed evil, think that We shall hold them and those who have believed and done right as equal, so that their life and their death should be alike? Evil indeed are the judgments they pass!

Translit: Am hasiba allatheena ijtarahoo alssayyiati an najAAalahum kaallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati sawaan mahyahum wamamatuhum saa ma yahkumoona

Translation:

Then, why did not those beings help them whom they had made their gods instead of Allah, and regarded them as a means of attaining nearness to Him? Nay, they were lost from them: and this was the end of their lies and their false beliefs that they had invented.

Translit: Falawla nasarahumu allatheena ittakhathoo min dooni Allahi qurbanan alihatan bal dalloo AAanhum wathalika ifkuhum wama kanoo yaftaroona

Translation:

Therefore, endure with patience, O Prophet, as did the Messengers endowed with the firmness of purpose, and do not be in haste concerning them. The day these people see that with which they are being threatened, it will so appear to them that they did not stay in the world for more than an hour of a day. The Message has been conveyed. Now, shall any other than the disobedient people be destroyed?

Translit: Faisbir kama sabara oloo alAAazmi mina alrrusuli wala tastaAAjil lahum kaannahum yawma yarawna ma yooAAadoona lam yalbathoo illa saAAatan min naharin balaghun fahal yuhlaku illa alqawmu alfasiqoona

Translation:

O Prophet, how many habitations have there been that were much stronger in power than this habitation of yours that has expelled you. We destroyed them so utterly that there was none to save them.

Translit: Wakaayyin min qaryatin hiya ashaddu quwwatan min qaryatika allatee akhrajatka ahlaknahum fala nasira lahum

Translation:

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and those who are with him are hard on the disbelievers and merciful among themselves. When you see them you will find them bowing down and falling prostrate and craving for Allah"s bounty and His good-will. They have the marks of prostrations on their faces by which they are distinguished from others. This is their description in the Torah, and in the Gospel they have been likened to a crop which put out its shoot, then strengthened it, then swelled and then stood on its own stem, filling the sowers with delight and the disbelievers with jealousy of them. Allah has promised those of them, who have believed and done good works, forgiveness and a great reward.

Translit: Muhammadun rasoolu Allahi waallatheena maAAahu ashiddao AAala alkuffari ruhamao baynahum tarahum rukkaAAan sujjadan yabtaghoona fadlan mina Allahi waridwanan seemahum fee wujoohihim min athari alssujoodi thalika mathaluhum fee alttawrati wamathaluhum fee alinjeeli kazarAAin akhraja shatahu faazarahu faistaghlatha faistawa AAala sooqihi yuAAjibu alzzurraAAa liyagheetha bihimu alkuffara waAAada Allahu allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati minhum maghfiratan waajran AAatheeman

which made rotten everything that it blew on.

Translit: Ma tatharu min shayin atat AAalayhi illa jaAAalathu kaalrrameemi

And there will go round to them young boys, exclusively appointed for their service, who will be as lovely as- well-guarded pearls.

the people shall rise out of their graves with awestruck looks as though they were scattered locusts.

which swept them off as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees.

Then see how severe was My punishment and how true My warnings!

He created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's,

And His are the ships raised up high like mountains in the sea.

Then (how will it be) when the heaven will burst and redden like red leather?

Translit: Faitha inshaqqati alssamao fakanat wardatan kaalddihani

As beautiful as rubies and pearls.

as lovely as well-guarded pearls.

Has not the time yet arrived for the believers that their hearts should melt with the remembrance of Allah and should submit to the Truth sent down by Him, and they should not be like those who were given the Book before them, and long ages passed over them and their hearts became hardened and today most of them are sinners?

Translit: Alam yani lillatheena amanoo an takhshaAAa quloobuhum lithikri Allahi wama nazala mina alhaqqi wala yakoonoo kaallatheena ootoo alkitaba min qablu fatala AAalayhimu alamadu faqasat quloobuhum wakatheerun minhum fasiqoona

Translation:

Therefore, strive in rivalry with one another in hastening towards the Paradise the vastness of which is like the vastness of the heavens and earth, prepared for those who have believed in Allah and His Messengers. This is Allah's bounty which He bestows on whomever He wills, and Allah's bounty is immense!

Translit: Sabiqoo ila maghfiratin min rabbikum wajannatin AAarduha kaAAardi alssamai waalardi oAAiddat lillatheena amanoo biAllahi warusulihi thalika fadlu Allahi yuteehi man yashao waAllahu thoo alfadli alAAatheemi

And when you see them, their figures would look marvelous; when they speak you would love to listen to what they say. But in reality they are like blocks of timber propped up against a wall. They deem every shout to be directed against them. They are the real enemies, so beware of them. May Allah destroy them! How are they being perverted?

Translit: Waitha raaytahum tuAAjibuka ajsamuhum wain yaqooloo tasmaAA liqawlihim kaannahum khushubun musannadatun yahsaboona kulla sayhatin AAalayhim humu alAAaduwwu faihtharhum qatalahumu Allahu anna yufakoona

Many a settlement has rebelled against the commandments of its Lord and His Messengers, and We called it to stern account and punished it severely.
