| | Al-Baqarah | Pre Ayat ← 171 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 21. Prohibited Foods | | → Next Ruku| |

But if you understand the thing, it is better for you to observe the Fast. |
| | Al-Baqarah | Pre Ayat ← 194 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 24. Fighting in Defense | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:A prohibited month is to be respected, if the same is respected (by the enemy), and likewise there is the law of just retribution for the violation of all prohibited things. | | Al-Baqarah | Pre Ayat ← 213 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 26. Trials and Tribulation | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:In the beginning all the people followed the same way. (Afterwards there came a change and differences arose). Then Allah sent Prophets to give good tidings to those who followed the Right Way and warnings to those who swerved from it. And He sent down with them the Book based on the Truth so that it should judge between the people concerning their differences. (Differences arose not because people were not given the knowledge of the Truth in the beginning, nay), differences arose between those very people who had been given clear teachings, and (for no other reasons than that) they wanted to tyrannize over one another.230 So Allah, by His leave, guided those who believed in the Prophets to the Truth about which they had differed; Allah guides whomever He pleases to the Right Way. |
| | Al-Baqarah | Pre Ayat ← 214 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 26. Trials and Tribulation | | → Next Ruku| |

| | Al-Baqarah | Pre Ayat ← 228 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 28. Divorce | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:Divorced women must wait for three monthly courses. And it is not lawful for them to hide what Allah has created in their wombs, if they sincerely believe in Allah and the Last Day. Their husbands are best entitled to take248 them back as their wives during this waiting period, if they desire reconciliation. |
| | Al-Baqarah | Pre Ayat ← 229 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 29. Divorce | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:Divorce may be pronounced twice; then either the wife be kept honourably or parted with gracefully. And it is not lawful for you to take back anything out of what you have given them. There is, however, an exception to this; if you fear that they might not be able to keep within the limits imposed by Allah, there is no harm if both agree mutually that the wife should obtain divorce by giving something as compensation to the husband. These are the bounds set by Allah; therefore do not violate them, for those who violate the bounds of Allah are the tansgressors. |
| | Al-Baqarah | Pre Ayat ← 231 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 29. Divorce | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:And when you have divorced your wives and they are about to complete their prescribed term, then either retain them gracefully or release them generously. It is transgression to retain them merely for harassment; and whoever does that indeed wrongs his own self. Do not play with Allahs Commandments, and remember that Allah has blessed you with a great favour. He admonishes you to show due respect to the Book and the Wisdom He has sent to you. Fear Allah and know that He is fully aware of everything. |

| | Al-Baqarah | Pre Ayat ← 233 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 30. Remarriage of Divorced Women and Widows | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:The (divorced) mothers shall suckle their children for two whole years, if the fathers desire the suckling to be completed. In that case the father of the child shall, in the fair known way, be responsible for their food and clothing. But none should be burdened with more than one can bear: neither the mother should be pressed unjustly (to accept unfair terms) just because she is the mother nor should the father be burdened just because he is the father. And the same responsibility for the maintenance of the mother devolves upon the father of the child and his heir. There is no harm if they wean the child by mutual consent and consultation. Moreover, there is no harm if you choose to give your children a suckle by a wet nurse, provided that you pay her fairly. Fear Allah and know it well that whatever you do is in the sight of Allah. |
| | Al-Baqarah | Pre Ayat ← 234 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 30. Remarriage of Divorced Women and Widows | | → Next Ruku| |

| | Al-Baqarah | Pre Ayat ← 235 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 30. Remarriage of Divorced Women and Widows | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:It is no offence if you make indirect proposal of marriage to widows during their waiting term or keep it concealed in your hearts: for Allah knows that you will naturally think of them. But be careful not to make any secret engagement. If you have to do anything, do it in an honourable way. And you should not settle anything finally about the marriage until the waiting term expires. Understand it well that Allah even knows what is hidden in your hearts; so fear Him. Also know that Allah is Lenient and Forgiving. |
| | Al-Baqarah | Pre Ayat ← 236 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 31. Provisions for Divorced Women and Widows | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:It is no sin if you divorce your wives while you have not yet touched them or fixed any dower for them. In such a case, pay them something anyhow. A rich man should pay fairly according to his means and a poor man according to his resources, for this is an obligation on the righteous people. |
| | Al-Baqarah | Pre Ayat ← 240 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 31. Provisions for Divorced Women and Widows | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:Those of you, who shall die and leave wives behind them, should make a will to the effect that they should be provided with a years maintenance and should not be turned out of their homes. Afterwards when Saul, and those who had believed with him, crossed the river and advanced forward, the former said to Saul, "We have no power left this day to fight against Goliath and his hosts." But those who believed that one Day they shall meet Allah, declared, "lt has often been that a small host has, by Allahs grace, overcome a big host: for Allah is with those who show fortitude." |

| | An-Nisa | Pre Ayat ← 46 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 7. Purification of the Soul | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:Some of those, who have become Jews, pervert words out of their context and twist their tongues in order to malign the true Faith and say "sami ina wa asaina " and "Isma ghaira musma in and Ra ina. But, if they had said instead, "sami ina wa ata "ana, " "Isma " and " Unzurna," it would have been better for themselves and a more upright way. As Allah has cursed them for their disbelief, they are little disposed to believe. |
| | An-Nisa | Pre Ayat ← 47 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 7. Purification of the Soul | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:O you to whom the Book had been given! Believe in the Book We have sent down now, confirming the Book you already have with you,77 believe in it before We distort faces and set them backwards, or lay Our curse on them as We laid Our curse on the Sabbath breakers: and remember that Allahs Command is surely carried into effect. |
| | An-Nisa | Pre Ayat ← 69 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 9. Prophet must be obeyed | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:And who-so-ever obeys Allah and the Messenger, shall be with those whom Allah has blessed-the Prophets, the truthful and the martyrs and the righteous: what excellent companions these are that one may get! |
| | An-Nisa | Pre Ayat ← 72 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 10. Believers must defend Themselves | | → Next Ruku| |

| | An-Nisa | Pre Ayat ← 73 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 10. Believers must defend Themselves | | → Next Ruku| |

| | An-Nisa | Pre Ayat ← 87 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 11. Attitude of the Hypocrites | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:Allah: there is no deity but He. He will gather you all together on the Day of Resurrection, the coming of which is beyond all doubt: and whose word can be truer than Allahs. |
| | An-Nisa | Pre Ayat ← 102 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 15. Prayer when Fighting | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:And when you, O Prophet, are among the Muslims and are going to lead them in Salat (in a state of war), let a party of them stand behind you, carrying their weapons with them. When they have made their prostrations, they should fall back and let another party of them, who have not yet offered the Salat, say it with you and they, too, should be on their guard and keep their weapons with them. For the disbelievers are always on the look-out for a chance to find you neglectful of your weapons and your baggage so that they may swoop down upon you with a surprise attack. If, however, you feel some inconvenience on account of rain, or if you are ill, there is no harm if you put aside your weapons, but you should still be on your guard. Rest assured that Allah has prepared a disgraceful torment for the disbelievers. |
| | An-Nisa | Pre Ayat ← 108 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 16. Hypocrites are Dishonest | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:They might hide their evil deeds from the people but they cannot hide these from Allah: He is with them even when they hold at night such secret consultations as do not please Him; Allah encompasses all that they are doing. |
| | An-Nisa | Pre Ayat ← 114 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 17. Secret Counsels of the Hypocrites | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:There is nothing good in most of the secret counsels of the people: it is, however, a good thing if one secretly enjoins charity or righteousness or says something in order to set aright the affairs of the people; We will give a great reward to him who does so to please Allah. |
| | An-Nisa | Pre Ayat ← 140 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 20. Hypocrisy Condemned | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:Allah has already sent down to you in this Book the Commandment: you should not sit in a company wherein you hear things of unbelief concerning the Revelations of Allah, and wherein these are being ridiculed, until those people are engaged in some other talk. Now if you remain here you shall be guilty like them. Rest assured that Allah is going to gather the hypocrites and the disbelievers all together in Hell. |
| | An-Nisa | Pre Ayat ← 141 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 20. Hypocrisy Condemned | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:The hypocrites are watching you closely to see how the wind blows. If victory comes to you from Allah, they will say to you, "Were we not with you?" And if the disbelievers gain the upper hand, they will say to them, "Were we not strong enough to fight against you? Yet we defended you from the Muslims. Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection, Allah will judge between you and them, and (in this judgment) Allah has left no way for the disbelievers to overcome the Believers. |
| | An-Nisa | Pre Ayat ← 146 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 21. End of the Hypocrites | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:As regards those of them, who repent and mend them ways and then hold fast to Allah and dedicate their religion sincerely to Allah, such people are with the Believers, and Allah will most surely bestow a great reward on the Believers. |
| | An-Nisa | Pre Ayat ← 153 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 22. Transgression of the Jews | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:If the people of the Book are today asking you to cause a Book to come down upon them from heaven, they have already made even more monstrous demands from Moses. They said to him, "Make us see Allah with our own eyes." As a result of their wickedness, a thunder-bolt smote them all of a sudden. Then they took the calf as the object of their worship, after they had seen clear signs: but even after this, We forgave them. We bestowed upon Moses a clear Commandment |
| | An-Nisa | Pre Ayat ← 163 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 23. Previous Revelation bears out Quranic Statements | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:O Muhammad, We have sent Revelation to you just as We sent it to Noah and other Prophets after him. We also sent Revelation to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob, and the descendants of Jacob, and Jesus and Job and Jonah and Aaron and Solomon, and We gave the Psalms to David. |
| | Al-Maidah | Pre Ayat ← 12 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 3. Christian Violation of the Covenant | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:Allah had bound the Israelites by a solemn covenant, and appointed twelve supervisors31 from among them and said, "I am with you; if you establish the Salat, pay the Zakat and believe in My Messengers,32 and support them and give a generous loan to Allah,33 I shall surely wipe out your evils from you,34 and admit you into gardens under which canals flow, But after this whoever from among you adopted the way of disbelief, has indeed gone astray from the Right Way."35 |
| | Al-Maidah | Pre Ayat ← 36 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 6. Punishment of Offenders | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:Note it well that those, who have adopted the way of disbelief, shall not escape retribution, for even if they possessed all the wealth of the earth and the like of it with it and offered it as ransom to redeem themselves from the torment of the Day of Resurrection, that will not be accepted from them and they shall receive a painful punishment. |
| | Al-Maidah | Pre Ayat ← 41 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 6. Punishment of Offenders | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:O Messenger, let not those who are striving hard in the way of disbelief, grieve you, whether they be from among those who say with their mouths, "We believe," but their hearts do not believe, or from among those who have become Jews; for the latter eagerly listen to lies. They spy for other people who have never had any chance of coming to you: they twist the words of Allahs Book out of their context in order to distort their proper meaning: they say to the people, "If you are enjoined to observe such and such teaching, accept it; if it is other than this, reject it." You can do nothing to save from Allahs punishment a man whom Allah wills to put to trial. They are those, whose hearts Allah does not will to purify; there is ignominy for them in this world and a grievous punishment in the Hereafter. |
| | Al-Maidah | Pre Ayat ← 42 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 6. Punishment of Offenders | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:They are listeners to falsehood and greedy devourers of the forbidden. If, therefore, they come to you (with their cases), you may judge between them or refuse to do so: for even if you refuse, they will not be able to do any harm to you; but if you judge between them, then judge with justice, for Allah loves those who act justly.70 |

Translation:When they listen to that which has been sent down to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflow with tears because of the Truth they recognize therein. They spontaneously say, "Our Lord, we have believed; therefore, write down our names with those who bear witness to it." |
| | Al-Maidah | Pre Ayat ← 84 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 11. Christian Nearness to Islam | | → Next Ruku| |

| | Al-Maidah | Pre Ayat ← 108 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 14. Some Directions for Muslims | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:It is expected that in this way the people will give only true evidence: or, at least, they will fear lest their oaths should be contradicted by subsequent oaths. Fear Allah and listen: Allah does not show His Guidance to those who are disobedient. |
| | Al-Maidah | Pre Ayat ← 109 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 15. Christian Love of this Life | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:On the Day,-- when Allah will assemble all the Messengers, He will ask, "What was the response you received?" They will answer, "We have no knowledge: You alone have the full knowledge of all that is hidden." |
| | Al-Maidah | Pre Ayat ← 112 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 15. Christian Love of this Life | | → Next Ruku| |

| | Al-Maidah | Pre Ayat ← 114 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 15. Christian Love of this Life | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:At this, Jesus, son of Mary, prayed, "O Allah, our Lord, send to us from heaven a tray of food that it may become a recurring festival to us, to the first of us and to the last of us, and that it may be a Sign from You. Provide for us and You are the best of providers." |
| | Al-Anaam | Pre Ayat ← 12 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 2. Greatness of Divine Mercy | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:Ask them, "To Whom belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth?" Say, "To Allah, Who has prescribed mercy and generosity for Himself: (that is why He does not catch hold of you immediately at your first disobedience). He will, however, certainly muster all of you on the Day of Resurrection. There is no doubt about this; yet those who have made themselves liable to ruin, do not believe in this." |
| | Al-Anaam | Pre Ayat ← 19 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 2. Greatness of Divine Mercy | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:Ask them, "Whose testimony is the most reliable?" Say "Allah is witness between me and you (that I am His Messenger), and this Quran has been revealed to me so that I should thereby warn you and all whom it may reach. What, will you really testify that there are other deities besides Allah?" Say, "As for me, I will never testify such a thing." Say, "Indeed, He alone is the Deity and I feel disgusted with the shirk you practice." |

| | Al-Anaam | Pre Ayat ← 36 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 4. Rejection of the Truth | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:Only those, who listen to it, accept the Message; as for the dead, Allah will raise them from the graves only and they shall be brought back (to be produced in His Court). |
| | Al-Anaam | Pre Ayat ← 46 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 5. Consequences of Rejection | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:O Muhammad, ask them, "Have you ever considered this: If Allah were to take away your hearing and your sight and set a seal upon your hearts, is there a deity other than Allah to restore them to you?" Behold! how We present Our Signs before them over and over again, and how they turn away from them in disdain. |

| | Al-Anaam | Pre Ayat ← 99 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 12. Ultimate Triumph of the Truth | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:And it is He Who sent down rain-water from the sky and thereby caused every kind of vegetation to grow, and then with it produced green fields and trees and from them brought forth close growing grain and from the blossoms of palm-trees brought forth laden sheaths of clustering dates and vineyards and olive groves and gardens of pomegranates : though their fruits resemble each other yet each has its distinctive quality. Behold how they bring forth fruit and how their fruits ripen. for there are indeed Signs in these things for those who believe. |
| | Al-Anaam | Pre Ayat ← 125 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 15. The Chief Opponents | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:So (the fact is that) whomsoever Allah wills to guide aright, He makes his breast wide open to Islam, and whomsoever He wills to let go astray, He makes his breast narrow and squeezes it so tight that (at the very idea of Islam) he begins to feel as if his soul were climbing up towards the sky. Thus Allah sets the impurity (caused by their deviation from the Way of Islam) over those who do not believe, |

| | At-Tauba | Pre Ayat ← 46 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 7. The Hypocrites | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:If they had really intended to march forth, they would surely have made some preparation for it. But Allah was averse to their going forth; and He caused them to hold back, and it was said to them, "Stay behind with those who stay behind." |

| | Yunus | Pre Ayat ← 24 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 3. Merciful Dealing | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:This worldly life (which has so enamored you that you have become neglectful of Our Signs) may be likened to the produce of the earth: We sent rain-water from the sky, and the crops of which man and animals eat, grew up luxuriantly. Then at that very time, when the land was at its best, and the crops had ripened and decked out and the owners were presuming that they would be able to benefit from them, Our Command came all of a sudden by night or by day, and We destroyed it so thoroughly as though nothing had existed there the previous day. Thus We expound Our Signs in detail for the consideration of those people who are thoughtful. |

Translation:So O Prophet, be on your guard lest you should omit (to recite) some of the things which are being revealed to you and be not distressed at heart that they would say Why has no treasure been sent down to Him?" Or "Why has no angel come with him?" You are only a warner and Allah has everything in His power and charge. |
| | Hud | Pre Ayat ← 20 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 2. Truth of Revelation | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:They were unable to frustrate Allah on the earth, nor had they protectors to defend them against Allah. Now they shall be given double chastisement: for they would neither listen to others nor see the Truth for themselves. |
| | Hud | Pre Ayat ← 40 | → Next Ayat | Pre Ruku ← | | 4. History of Noah | | → Next Ruku| |
Translation:Thus was it until Our Command came to pass and At-Tannur began to boil up.
