Their condition may be described in a parable: a man kindled a fire and when it illuminated all around him, Allah took away the light from their eyes and left them in utter darkness, where they could not see anything.

Recall the time when We delivered you from the slavery of Pharaohs people. They had inflicted a dreadful torment on you: they killed your sons and let your daughters live. And in this there was a hard trial for you from your your Lord.

When they meet those who believe in Muhammad, they say, "We also believe in him." But when they meet one another in private, they say, "Have you got no sense that you disclose to them those things which Allah has revealed to you so that they might bring them as a proof against you before your Lord?

Translit: wa itha laqoo allatheena amanoo qaloo amanna wa itha khala baAAduhum ila baAAdin qaloo atuhaddithoonahum bima fataha Allahu AAalaykum liyuhajjookum bihi AAinda rabbikum afala taAAqiloona

Translation:

Remember that We made a solemn covenant with the children of Israel to this effect: worship none save Allah: be good to your parents, to your relatives, to the orphans and to the helpless; speak aright with the people: establish the Salat and pay the Zakat. But with the exception of a few, you all slid back from it and are paying no heed to it even now.

Translit: Waith akhathna meethaqa banee israeela la taAAbudoona illa Allaha wabialwalidayni ihsanan wathee alqurba waalyatama waalmasakeeni waqooloo lilnnasi husnan waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata thumma tawallaytum illa qaleelan minkum waantum muAAridoona

Say to them, "If the abode of the Hereafter with Allah is exclusively reserved for you and not for the rest of mankind, then you should long for death, if you arc sincere in your claim."

Translit: Qul in kanat lakumu alddaru alakhiratu AAinda Allahi khalisatan min dooni alnnasi fatamannawoo almawta in kuntum sadiqeena

Believe it that they will never wish for it, for (they are fully aware of the consequences of) what they have sent before them for the Hereafter. And Allah knows well the mentality of the transgressors.

Translation:

And who could be a greater wrongdoer than the one who forbids the mention of Allahs name in places of worship and strives for their ruin? Such people do not deserve to enter the places of worship, and, if they enter at all, they should do so in fear;114 for there is ignominy for them in this world and an awful punishment in the Hereafter.

Recall to mind that when his Lord put Abraham to test124 in certain things and he fulfilled all of them, He said, "I am going to make you the leader of mankind." Abraham humbly asked, "Does this promise apply to my descendants also?" He replied, "My promise does not apply to the transgressors."

Translit: Waithi ibtala ibraheema rabbuhu bikalimatin faatammahunna qala innee jaAAiluka lilnnasi imaman qala wamin thurriyyatee qala la yanalu AAahdee alththalimeena

And remember that We made this House (the Kabah) the centre nd sanctuary for mankind and enjoined the people to dedicate to worship the place where Abraham used to stand for prayer, and We urged Abraham and Ismail to keep My House pure for those who would go round it and those who would retire to it for devotion and prayer and for those who would bow down and prostrate themselves there in worhsip.126

Were you present at the time when Jacob was on the point of death? He asked his children, "Whom will you worship after me?" They all answered, "We will worship the same One Allah Whom you, your forefathers Abraham. Ismail and Isaac acknowledged as their Allah and to Him we all surrender as Muslims."

Translit: Am kuntum shuhadaa ith hadara yaAAqooba almawtu ith qala libaneehi ma taAAbudoona min baAAdee qaloo naAAbudu ilahaka wailaha abaika ibraheema waismaAAeela waishaqa ilahan wahidan wanahnu lahu muslimoona

Translation:

O Muslims, say to them, O Muslims, say to them, "We believe in Allah and the Guidance which has been sent down to us and which was sent to Abraham, Ismail , Isaac and Jacob and his descendants and which was given by their Lord to Moses and Jesus and to all other Prophets. We do not discriminate against any of them136 and we have completely surrendered to Allah as Muslims."

Translit: Qooloo amanna biAllahi wa ma onzila ilayna wa ma onzila ila ibraheema wa ismaAAeela wa ishaqa wa yaAAqooba waalasbati wa ma ootiya moosa wa AAeesa wa ma ootiya alnnabiyyoona min rabbihim la nufarriqu bayna ahadin minhum wa nahnu lahu muslimoona

Translation:

We had appointed the former qiblah towards which you used to turn your face merely to test who would follow the Messenger and who would turn back. It was indeed a hard test but not for those who had been blessed with Guidance from Allah. Allah will not let go to waste this faith of yours; rest assured that He is full of pity and mercy for mankind.

Translit: Wakathalika jaAAalnakum ommatan wasatan litakoonoo shuhadaa AAala alnnasi wayakoona alrrasoolu AAalaykum shaheedan wama jaAAalna alqiblata allatee kunta AAalayha illa linaAAlama man yattabiAAu alrrasoola mimman yanqalibu AAala AAaqibayhi wain kanat lakabeeratan illa AAala allatheena hada Allahu wama kana Allahu liyudeeAAa eemanakum inna Allaha bialnnasi laraoofun raheemun

As for those to whom We gave the Book, they recognise the place (which has now been made qiblah), as clearly as they recognise their own children. But some of them are knowingly concealing the truth.

Translit: Allatheena ataynahumu alkitaba yaAArifoonahu kama yaAArifoona abnaahum wainna fareeqan minhum layaktumoona alhaqqa wahum yaAAlamoona

At whatever place you may be, you must turn your face towards the Masjid Haram, and wherever you may be, you must turn your face towards the same at prayer so that people might not find an argument against you. As for the unjust people, they will never stop talking; so do not fear them but fear Me -- (Do this) so that I may complete My favour upon you and you may find the way to real success,

Indeed Allah curses, and the cursers, too, curse those who conceal the clear teachings and guidance We have sent down, after We have made these plain in the Book for the guidance of all mankind.

Translit: Inna allatheena yaktumoona ma anzalna mina albayyinati waalhuda min baAAdi ma bayyannahu lilnnasi fee alkitabi olaika yalAAanuhumu Allahu wayalAAanuhumu allaAAinoona

The mental condition of those who rejected the way of Allah may be likened to that of the cattle whom the shepherd calls but they hear nothing except the sound of shouts and cries.169 They are deaf, they are dumb, they are blind; therefore they do not understand anything.

Translit: Wamathalu allatheena kafaroo kamathali allathee yanAAiqu bima la yasmaAAu illa duAAaan wanidaan summun bukmun AAumyun fahum la yaAAqiloona

Translation:

Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was sent down : this Book is a perfect guidance for mankind and consists of clear teachings which show the right way and are a criterion of Truth and falsehood. Therefore from now on whoever witnesses it, it is obligatory on hire to fast the whole month, but if one be ill or on a journey, he should make up for the same number by fasting on other days. Allah desires to show leniency to you and does not desire to show any hardship. "therefore this method is being shown to you so that you may complete the number of Fast days and glorify Allah for the Guidance He has shown to you and be grateful to Him.

Translit: Shahru ramadana allathee onzila feehi alquranu hudan lilnnasi wabayyinatin mina alhuda waalfurqani faman shahida minkumu alshshahra falyasumhu waman kana mareedan aw AAala safarin faAAiddatun min ayyamin okhara yureedu Allahu bikumu alyusra wala yureedu bikumu alAAusra walitukmiloo alAAiddata walitukabbiroo Allaha AAala ma hadakum walaAAallakum tashkuroona

Translation:

They ask you about the phases of the moon. Say, "These are signs for the people to reckon dates and fix the periods for hajj."198 Also tell them, "It is no virtue to enter your houses from their backs during the Hajj days); real virtue is that one should refrain from incurring the displeasure of Allah; so enter your houses by their proper doors. and fear Allah so that you may gain (true) success.

Translit: Yasaloonaka AAani alahillati qul hiya mawaqeetu lilnnasi waalhajji walaysa albirru bian tatoo albuyoota min thuhooriha walakinna albirra mani ittaqa watoo albuyoota min abwabiha waittaqoo Allaha laAAallakum tuflihoona

They ask you about drinking and gambling. Say, "There is great harm in both, though there is some benefit also for the people. But the harm of the sin thereof is far greater than their benefit."

Translit: Yasaloonaka AAani alkhamri waalmaysiri qul feehima ithmun kabeerun wamanafiAAu lilnnasi waithmuhuma akbaru min nafAAihima wayasaloonaka matha yunfiqoona quli alAAafwa kathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakumu alayati laAAallakum tatafakkaroona

Translation:

Do not marry mushrik women unless they believe; a slave woman who believes is better than a free woman who does not believe, even though the latter may appear very attractive to you. (Likewise) do not wed your women to mushrik men unless they believe; a slave man who believes is better than a free man who does not, even though he may be very pleasing to you. These mushrik people invite you to the Fire while Allah by His grace invites you to the Garden and His pardon, and He makes His revelations plain to the people so that they should learn a lesson and follow the admonition.

Translit: Wala tankihoo almushrikati hatta yuminna walaamatun muminatun khayrun min mushrikatin walaw aAAjabatkum wala tunkihoo almushrikeena hatta yuminoo walaAAabdun muminun khayrun min mushrikin walaw aAAjabakum olaika yadAAoona ila alnnari waAllahu yadAAoo ila aljannati waalmaghfirati biithnihi wayubayyinu ayatihi lilnnasi laAAallahum yatathakkaroona

Or take the case of the one who passed by a township that had fallen down upon its roofs. He exclaimed, "How shall Allah bring back to life this township that has become dead?" At this Allah caused him to die and he lay dead for a hundred years. Then Allah brought him back to life and asked him, "How long have you lain here?" He answered. "I might have lain here for a day or a few hours." Allah said, "Nay, you have been lying here in this state for a hundred years: now, just have a look at your food and your drink; they have not become spoiled in the least. Then have a look at your ass, (and see that his very bones have become rotten) and We have done this in order to make you a Sign for the people. Look, how We raise up the skeleton and set the bones (of the ass) and cover them with flesh and (put breath of life into them)." And when the Reality became manifest to him, he said, "I know

Translit: Aw kaallathee marra AAala qaryatin wahiya khawiyatun AAala AAurooshiha qala anna yuhyee hathihi Allahu baAAda mawtiha faamatahu Allahu miata AAamin thumma baAAathahu qala kam labithta qala labithtu yawman aw baAAda yawmin qala bal labithta miata AAamin faonthur ila taAAamika washarabika lam yatasannah waonthur ila himarika walinajAAalaka ayatan lilnnasi waonthur ila alAAithami kayfa nunshizuha thumma naksooha lahman falamma tabayyana lahu qala aAAlamu anna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

for the guidance of mankind, and He has sent down the Criterion (of right and wrong). Now there shall be a severe punishment for those who reject the Commandments of Allah: for Allah is Almighty, Avenger of wickedness.

Translit: Min qablu hudan lilnnasi waanzala alfurqana inna allatheena kafaroo biayati Allahi lahum AAathabun shadeedun waAllahu AAazeezun thoo intiqamin

Translation:

It is He Who has sent down this Book to you. There are two kinds of verses in this Book: muhkamat (which are precise in meaning: ) they are the essence of the Books5 and the other kind is mutashabihat (which are ambiguous. ) Those, who are perverse of heart, always go after the mutashabihat in pursuit of mischief and try to interpret them arbitrarily, whereas in fact, none save Allah knows their real meanings! In contrast to them, those, who possess sound knowledge, say, "We believe in them because all of them are from our Lord." And the fact is that only the people of insight can learn lessons from such things.

Translit: Huwa allathee anzala AAalayka alkitaba minhu ayatun muhkamatun hunna ommu alkitabi waokharu mutashabihatun faamma allatheena fee quloobihim zayghun fayattabiAAoona ma tashabaha minhu ibtighaa alfitnati waibtighaa taweelihi wama yaAAlamu taweelahu illa Allahu waalrrasikhoona fee alAAilmi yaqooloona amanna bihi kullun min AAindi rabbina wama yaththakkaru illa oloo alalbabi

Translation:

Love of lusts for women and children. hoarded Heaps of gold and silver, choicest horses, cattle and corn fields, has been made very tempting for people, but these are mere provisions for the transitory life of this world; the ever-lasting and the best abode, however, is with Allah.

Translit: Zuyyina lilnnasi hubbu alshshahawati mina alnnisai waalbaneena waalqanateeri almuqantarati mina alththahabi waalfiddati waalkhayli almusawwamati waalanAAami waalharthi thalika mataAAu alhayati alddunya waAllahu AAindahu husnu almaabi

These are the people, who say, "Lord, we have believed sincerely; forgive us our sins and save us from the fire of Hell."

When Jesus perceived that the children of Israel were bent upon disbelief, he said, "Who will be my helper in the cause of Allah?" The disciples (promptly responded and) said, "We are Allahs helpers: we have believed in Allah; so do bear witness that we are Muslims (who surrender to Allah).

Translit: Falamma ahassa AAeesa minhumu alkufra qala man ansaree ila Allahi qala alhawariyyoona nahnu ansaru Allahi amanna biAllahi waishhad bianna muslimoona

Lord! we have believed in that which Thou hast sent down and followed Thy Messenger; so enroll us among those who bear witness.

After the coming of this knowledge to you, if anyone argues with you about this matter, say, O Muhammad, "Come, let us both gather together and also bring our children and your children, our women and your women, and then pray to Allah and invoke Him to lay the liars under His curse."

Translit: Faman hajjaka feehi min baAAdi ma jaaka mina alAAilmi faqul taAAalaw nadAAu abnaana waabnaakum wanisaana wanisaakum waanfusana waanfusakum thumma nabtahil fanajAAal laAAnata Allahi AAala alkathibeena

Say, "O people of the Book! Come to what is common between us and you, that we worship none but Allah; that we associate nothing with Him and that none of us shall make as our Lord any other than Allah." If they reject your invitation, then tell them plainly, "Bear witness that we are Muslims (who worship and surrender to Allah alone)."

Translit: Qul ya ahla alkitabi taAAalaw ila kalimatin sawain baynana wabaynakum alla naAAbuda illa Allaha wala nushrika bihi shayan wala yattakhitha baAAduna baAAdan arbaban min dooni Allahi fain tawallaw faqooloo ishhadoo bianna muslimoona

No man, to whom Allah gives the Book and sound judgment and Prophethood, would say thereafter to the people, "Be worshippers of me instead of Allah." He will surely say, "Be true Rabbanis in accordance with the teachings of the Book you read and teach.

Translit: Ma kana libasharin an yutiyahu Allahu alkitaba waalhukma waalnnubuwwata thumma yaqoola lilnnasi koonoo AAibadan lee min dooni Allahi walakin koonoo rabbaniyyeena bima kuntum tuAAallimoona alkitaba wabima kuntum tadrusoona

Translation:

O Prophet, say, "We believe in Allah and in the teachings which have been sent down to us, and also in those teachings sent down to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob and his descendants, and in the guidance that was given by Allah to Moses, Jesus and other Messengers. We do not discriminate against anyone of them and we submit and surrender to Him."

Translit: Qul amanna biAllahi wama onzila AAalayna wama onzila AAala ibraheema waismaAAeela waishaqa wayaAAqooba waalasbati wama ootiya moosa waAAeesa waalnnabiyyoona min rabbihim la nufarriqu bayna ahadin minhum wanahnu lahu muslimoona

Undoubtedly the first house of worship ever to be built for mankind is the one which is at Makkah: it was blessed and made the centre of Guidance for all peoples.

Translit: Inna awwala baytin wudiAAa lilnnasi lallathee bibakkata mubarakan wahudan lilAAalameena

Translation:

Now you are the best community which has been raised up for the guidance of mankind: you enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah. Had these people of the Book also believed, it would have surely been better for them. Though there are among them some believers, yet most of them are transgressors.

Translit: Kuntum khayra ommatin okhrijat lilnnasi tamuroona bialmaAAroofi watanhawna AAani almunkari watuminoona biAllahi walaw amana ahlu alkitabi lakana khayran lahum minhumu almuminoona waaktharuhumu alfasiqoona

Yet all the people of the Book are not alike: there are among them some who are steadfastly on the right path; who recite the Revelations of Allah at night and fall prostrate before Him;

Translit: Laysoo sawaan min ahli alkitabi ommatun qaimatun yatloona ayati Allahi anaa allayli wahum yasjudoona

As for you, you love them but they do not love you, even though you believe in all the revealed Books. When they meet you, they say, "We also believe (in. your Prophet and in your Book"), but when they go aside, they bite their finger-tips in their rage against you.- Say to them, "Perish in your rage: Allah knows even that which is hidden in the hearts."

This is a clear warning for the people and guidance and admonition for those who fear Allah.

Translation:

When these hypocrites were told to come and fight in the way of Allah or at least in the defence (of their city), they said, "Had we known that the fighting would take place today, we would have certainly gone out with you." At the time they were uttering these words, they were nearer to unbelief than to faith, for they utter with their tongues what is not in their hearts; but Allah knows well what they conceal in their hearts.

Translit: WaliyaAAlama allatheena nafaqoo waqeela lahum taAAalaw qatiloo fee sabeeli Allahi awi idfaAAoo qaloo law naAAlamu qitalan laittabaAAnakum hum lilkufri yawmaithin aqrabu minhum lileemani yaqooloona biafwahihim ma laysa fee quloobihim waAllahu aAAlamu bima yaktumoona

Remind the people of the Book that Allah made the Covenant with them and enjoined: "You shall spread the teachings of the Book among the peoples and shall not keep these concealed." But they flung the Book behind their backs and bartered it away for paltry worldly gains. What a bad business they are carrying on!

Translit: Waith akhatha Allahu meethaqa allatheena ootoo alkitaba latubayyinunnahu lilnnasi wala taktumoonahu fanabathoohu waraa thuhoorihim waishtaraw bihi thamanan qaleelan fabisa ma yashtaroona

In fact, those who grab unjustly the property of the orphans, fill their bellies with fire, and most surely they shall be thrown into the burning fire of Hell.

And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger and transgresses the limits prescribed by Him, Allah will cast him into the Fire wherein he shall abide for ever, and shall have a disgraceful chastisement.25a

We shall throw into the Fire the one who commits such acts of aggression and injustice; and this is very easy for Allah.

Translit: Waman yafAAal thalika AAudwanan wathulman fasawfa nusleehi naran wakana thalika AAala Allahi yaseeran

Translation:

And do not covet what Allah has given some of you more than others: the men shall have their due share according to what they have earned and the women shall have their share according to what they have earned. So pray to Allah for His bounty; most surely Allah has perfect knowledge of everything.

Translit: Wala tatamannaw ma faddala Allahu bihi baAAdakum AAala baAAdin lilrrijali naseebun mimma iktasaboo walilnnisai naseebun mimma iktasabna waisaloo Allaha min fadlihi inna Allaha kana bikulli shayin AAaleeman

Translation:

Surely We will throw into the Fire those who have rejected Our Revelations; as often as their skins shall be consumed, We will replace them by other skins so that they may taste the torment in full, for Allah is All-Powerful and All-Wise to enforce His decrees.

Translit: Inna allatheena kafaroo biayatina sawfa nusleehim naran kullama nadijat julooduhum baddalnahum juloodan ghayraha liyathooqoo alAAathaba inna Allaha kana AAazeezan hakeeman

Translation:

And who-so-ever obeys Allah and the Messenger, shall be with those whom Allah has blessed-the Prophets, the truthful and the martyrs and the righteous: what excellent companions these are that one may get!

Translit: Waman yutiAAi Allaha waalrrasoola faolaika maAAa allatheena anAAama Allahu AAalayhim mina alnnabiyyeena waalssiddeeqeena waalshshuhadai waalssaliheena wahasuna olaika rafeeqan

Translation:

Well, there are among you such as shirk fight; if a disaster befalls you, they say, "Allah has been very gracious to us that we did not accompany these people."

Translit: Wainna minkum laman layubattianna fain asabatkum museebatun qala qad anAAama Allahu AAalayya ith lam akun maAAahum shaheedan

Translation:

Whatever good comes to you, O man, it is by Allahs grace, and whatever evil befalls you, it is the result of your own doings. We have sent you, O Muhammad, as a Messenger to mankind, and Allahs witness suffices for this.

Translit: Ma asabaka min hasanatin famina Allahi wama asabaka min sayyiatin famin nafsika waarsalnaka lilnnasi rasoolan wakafa biAllahi shaheedan

Translation:

I will entice them by vain desires; I will command them and they will slit the ears of the cattle by my order, and I will command them and they will make alterations and corrupt Allahs creation." Therefore whoever makes this same Satan his patron, instead of God, becomes a manifest loser.

Translit: Walaodillannahum walaomanniyannahum walaamurannahum falayubattikunna athana alanAAami walaamurannahum falayughayyirunna khalqa Allahi waman yattakhithi alshshaytana waliyyan min dooni Allahi faqad khasira khusranan mubeenan

Translation:

The hypocrites are watching you closely to see how the wind blows. If victory comes to you from Allah, they will say to you, "Were we not with you?" And if the disbelievers gain the upper hand, they will say to them, "Were we not strong enough to fight against you? Yet we defended you from the Muslims. Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection, Allah will judge between you and them, and (in this judgment) Allah has left no way for the disbelievers to overcome the Believers.

Translit: Allatheena yatarabbasoona bikum fain kana lakum fathun mina Allahi qaloo alam nakun maAAakum wain kana lilkafireena naseebun qaloo alam nastahwith AAalaykum wanamnaAAkum mina almumineena faAllahu yahkumu baynakum yawma alqiyamati walan yajAAala Allahu lilkafireena AAala almumineena sabeelan

Translation:

All these Messengers were sent as bearers of good news and warners, so that, after their coming, people should have no excuse left to plead before Allah Allah is, in any case All-Powerful, All-Wise.

Translit: Rusulan mubashshireena wamunthireena lialla yakoona lilnnasi AAala Allahi hujjatun baAAda alrrusuli wakana Allahu AAazeezan hakeeman

Translation:

O Believers, observe strictly the prescribed limits. All kinds of cattle-like animals have been made lawful for you except the ones which will be told you here-in-after, but you should not make hunting lawful for yourselves during the state of ihram : indeed Allah ordains whatever He pleases.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo awfoo bialAAuqoodi ohillat lakum baheematu alanAAami illa ma yutla AAalaykum ghayra muhillee alssaydi waantum hurumun inna Allaha yahkumu ma yureedu

Translation:

O Believers, do not violate the emblems of God-worship. Do not make lawful for yourselves any of the forbidden months nor catch hold of the animals dedicated to sacrifice nor lay hands on those animals which are collared as a mark of their dedication to God, nor molest the people repairing to the Inviolable Mosque (the Ka`abah), seeking their Lords bounty and pleasure. You are, however, allowed to hunt after you have put off ihram. -And be on your guard : let not your resentment against those, who have barred you from visiting the Ka`abah, incite you so much as to transgress the prescribed limits. Nay, cooperate with all in what is good and pious but do not cooperate in what is sinful and wicked. Fear Allah: for Allah is severe in retribution.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tuhilloo shaAAaira Allahi wala alshshahra alharama wala alhadya wala alqalaida wala ammeena albayta alharama yabtaghoona fadlan min rabbihim waridwanan waitha halaltum faistadoo wala yajrimannakum shanaanu qawmin an saddookum AAani almasjidi alharami an taAAtadoo wataAAawanoo AAala albirri waalttaqwa wala taAAawanoo AAala alithmi waalAAudwani waittaqoo Allaha inna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqabi

Translation:

O Believers, be steadfast in righteousness and just in giving witnesses for the sake of Allah; the enmity of any people should not so provoke you as to turn you away from justice. Do justice for it is akin to piety. Fear Allah (in your affairs): indeed He is fully aware of what you do.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo koonoo qawwameena lillahi shuhadaa bialqisti wala yajrimannakum shanaanu qawmin AAala alla taAAdiloo iAAdiloo huwa aqrabu lilttaqwa waittaqoo Allaha inna Allaha khabeerun bima taAAmaloona

Translation:

Likewise We bound by a covenant those people, who said,"We are Nasara."36 But they too, forgot much of what had been taught to them. So We sowed among them seeds of discord, enmity and hatred that shall last up to the Day of Resurrection, and surely the time will come when Allah will tell them of what they had been contriving in the world.

Translit: Wamina allatheena qaloo inna nasara akhathna meethaqahum fanasoo haththan mimma thukkiroo bihi faaghrayna baynahumu alAAadawata waalbaghdaa ila yawmi alqiyamati wasawfa yunabbiohumu Allahu bima kanoo yasnaAAoona

Translation:

" Among those, who were filled with fear, there were two persons whom Allah had blessed with His favor: they said, "Make your way into the gate against those mighty people; when you enter it, you will surely be victorious. Trust in Allah, if you are true believers."

Translit: Qala rajulani mina allatheena yakhafoona anAAama Allahu AAalayhima odkhuloo AAalayhimu albaba faitha dakhaltumoohu fainnakum ghaliboona waAAala Allahi fatawakkaloo in kuntum mumineena

Translation:

O Messenger, let not those who are striving hard in the way of disbelief, grieve you, whether they be from among those who say with their mouths, "We believe," but their hearts do not believe, or from among those who have become Jews; for the latter eagerly listen to lies. They spy for other people who have never had any chance of coming to you: they twist the words of Allahs Book out of their context in order to distort their proper meaning: they say to the people, "If you are enjoined to observe such and such teaching, accept it; if it is other than this, reject it." You can do nothing to save from Allahs punishment a man whom Allah wills to put to trial. They are those, whose hearts Allah does not will to purify; there is ignominy for them in this world and a grievous punishment in the Hereafter.

Translit: Ya ayyuha alrrasoolu la yahzunka allatheena yusariAAoona fee alkufri mina allatheena qaloo amanna biafwahihim walam tumin quloobuhum wamina allatheena hadoo sammaAAoona lilkathibi sammaAAoona liqawmin akhareena lam yatooka yuharrifoona alkalima min baAAdi mawadiAAihi yaqooloona in ooteetum hatha fakhuthoohu wain lam tutawhu faihtharoo waman yuridi Allahu fitnatahu falan tamlika lahu mina Allahi shayan olaika allatheena lam yuridi Allahu an yutahhira quloobahum lahum fee alddunya khizyun walahum

Translation:

Say to them, "O people of the Book, what is there that gives you offense against us other than that we believe in Allah and what has been sent down to us and what was sent down before us? And the fact is that most of you are transgressors."

Translit: Qul ya ahla alkitabi hal tanqimoona minna illa an amanna biAllahi wama onzila ilayna wama onzila min qablu waanna aktharakum fasiqoona

Translation:

When they come to you, they say, "We have believed," but in fact they had come in a state of un-belief and departed with disbelief; Allah knows full well what they were concealing in their hearts.

Translit: Waitha jaookum qaloo amanna waqad dakhaloo bialkufri wahum qad kharajoo bihi waAllahu aAAlamu bima kanoo yaktumoona

Translation:

Why do their rabbis and divines not forbid them to say sinful words and to eat unlawful things? It is indeed an evil record of their lifework which they are preparing!

Translit: Lawla yanhahumu alrrabbaniyyoona waalahbaru AAan qawlihimu alithma waaklihimu alssuhta labisa ma kanoo yasnaAAoona

Translation:

The Jews say that the hands of Allah are chained Nay chained indeed are their own hands and accursed they have become because of the blasphemy they utter Allahs hands are free and He expends in whatever way He wills. The fact is that the Message which has been sent down to you from your Lord has rather increased the rebellion and disbelief of many of them: (as a consequence of this) We have cast between them enmity and hatred till the Day of Resurrection. Whenever they kindle the fire of war, Allah extinguishes it; now they are striving to spread mischief in the world but Allah does not like the mischief makers.

Translit: Waqalati alyahoodu yadu Allahi maghloolatun ghullat aydeehim waluAAinoo bima qaloo bal yadahu mabsootatani yunfiqu kayfa yashao walayazeedanna katheeran minhum ma onzila ilayka min rabbika tughyanan wakufran waalqayna baynahumu alAAadawata waalbaghdaa ila yawmi alqiyamati kullama awqadoo naran lilharbi atfaaha Allahu wayasAAawna fee alardi fasadan waAllahu la yuhibbu almufsideena

Translation:

If (instead of this rebellion), the people of the Book had believed and adopted the way of God-fearing, We would have removed their evils from them, and admitted them into the gardens of bliss.

Translit: Walaw anna ahla alkitabi amanoo waittaqaw lakaffarna AAanhum sayyiatihim walaadkhalnahum jannati alnnaAAeemi

Translation:

When they listen to that which has been sent down to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflow with tears because of the Truth they recognize therein. They spontaneously say, "Our Lord, we have believed; therefore, write down our names with those who bear witness to it."

Translit: Waitha samiAAoo ma onzila ila alrrasooli tara aAAyunahum tafeedu mina alddamAAi mimma AAarafoo mina alhaqqi yaqooloona rabbana amanna faoktubna maAAa alshshahideena

Translation:

O Believers, do not kill game while you are in the state of ihram. And, whoever of you kills an animal intentionally, he small have to make an offering of a head of cattle equivalent to it, which will be decided by two just men from among you. This offering shall have to be sent to the Ka`bah or, failing this, he shall have to feed indigent people by way of expiation or compensate for it by equivalent fasting, so that he may taste the evil consequence of what he did. Allah has forgiven what has gone before, but if anyone repeats the same, Allah will inflict retribution on him: Allah is All-Mighty and All-Powerful to inflict retribution.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la taqtuloo alssayda waantum hurumun waman qatalahu minkum mutaAAammidan fajazaon mithlu ma qatala mina alnnaAAami yahkumu bihi thawa AAadlin minkum hadyan baligha alkaAAbati aw kaffaratun taAAamu masakeena aw AAadlu thalika siyaman liyathooqa wabala amrihi AAafa Allahu AAamma salafa waman AAada fayantaqimu Allahu minhu waAllahu AAazeezun thoo intiqamin

Translation:

Allah has made the sacred House of the Kabah a means of stabilizing the (community) life of the people ; the sacred month and the animal offerings and the animals which are collared as a mark of dedication (have also been made conducive to the same object) so that you may know that Allah is fully aware of all that is in the heavens and the earth and that He has perfect knowledge of everything.

Translit: JaAAala Allahu alkaAAbata albayta alharama qiyaman lilnnasi waalshshahra alharama waalhadya waalqalaida thalika litaAAlamoo anna Allaha yaAAlamu ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi waanna Allaha bikulli shayin AAaleemun

and remember also that I inspired the Disciples to believe in Me and My Messenger; then they said, `We have believed and bear witness that we are Muslims."

Translit: Waith awhaytu ila alhawariyyeena an aminoo bee wabirasoolee qaloo amanna waishhad biannana muslimoona

Translation:

They replied, "We only wish to eat of this tray so that our hearts may be re-assured and we may know it for certain that what you have said to us is true, and that we may bear witness to it."

Translit: Qaloo nureedu an nakula minha watatmainna quloobuna wanaAAlama an qad sadaqtana wanakoona AAalayha mina alshshahideena

Translation:

(After reminding him of these favors), Allah will say, "O Jesus, son of Mary, did you ever say to the people, Make me and my mother deities besides Allah?" He will say. "Glory be to You! It did not behoove me to say that which I had no right to say. Had I ever said such a thing, You would most surely have known it, for You know all that is in my mind, but I do not know what is in Your mind: indeed You have full knowledge of all the hidden things.

Translit: Waith qala Allahu ya AAeesa ibna maryama aanta qulta lilnnasi ittakhithoonee waommiya ilahayni min dooni Allahi qala subhanaka ma yakoonu lee an aqoola ma laysa lee bihaqqin in kuntu qultuhu faqad AAalimtahu taAAlamu ma fee nafsee wala aAAlamu ma fee nafsika innaka anta AAallamu alghuyoobi

Translation:

Those, to whom We have given the Book, recognize this with as much certainty as they recognize their own sons. But those, who have made themselves liable to perdition, do not believe in this.

Translit: Allatheena ataynahumu alkitaba yaAArifoonahu kama yaAArifoona abnaahum allatheena khasiroo anfusahum fahum la yuminoona

Translation:

O Muhammad, We know that what they say, grieves you, but it is not you whom they charge with falsehood; these wicked people are, in fact, denying the Revelations of Allah.

Translit: Qad naAAlamu innahu layahzunuka allathee yaqooloona fainnahum la yukaththiboonaka walakinna alththalimeena biayati Allahi yajhadoona

Translation:

Those people formed quite a wrong estimate of Allah, when they said, "Allah has not sent down anything to any man." Ask them: "Then who sent down the Book, which Moses brought: which was Light and Guidance for mankind: which you have divided into fragments, a part of which you show to the people and most of it you hide from them: by which you were given that knowledge which neither you nor your forefathers possessed?" Just say, "Allah", and then leave them alone to play with their useless arguments.

Translit: Wama qadaroo Allaha haqqa qadrihi ith qaloo ma anzala Allahu AAala basharin min shayin qul man anzala alkitaba allathee jaa bihi moosa nooran wahudan lilnnasi tajAAaloonahu qarateesa tubdoonaha watukhfoona katheeran waAAullimtum ma lam taAAlamoo antum wala abaokum quli Allahu thumma tharhum fee khawdihim yalAAaboona

Translation:

And it is He Who sent down rain-water from the sky and thereby caused every kind of vegetation to grow, and then with it produced green fields and trees and from them brought forth close growing grain and from the blossoms of palm-trees brought forth laden sheaths of clustering dates and vineyards and olive groves and gardens of pomegranates : though their fruits resemble each other yet each has its distinctive quality. Behold how they bring forth fruit and how their fruits ripen. for there are indeed Signs in these things for those who believe.

Translit: Wahuwa allathee anzala mina alssamai maan faakhrajna bihi nabata kulli shayin faakhrajna minhu khadiran nukhriju minhu habban mutarakiban wamina alnnakhli min talAAiha qinwanun daniyatun wajannatin min aAAnabin waalzzaytoona waalrrummana mushtabihan waghayra mutashabihin onthuroo ila thamarihi itha athmara wayanAAihi inna fee thalikum laayatin liqawmin yuminoona

Translation:

These people have assigned a portion to Allah out of the tillage and the cattle He Himself has created, and say, "This is for Allah," so presume they "and this is for the partners we have set up with Him." Then the portion assigned to the partners of their own making does not reach Allah, but that assigned to Allah reaches the partners set up by them. What evil decisions they make!

Translit: WajaAAaloo lillahi mimma tharaa mina alharthi waalanAAami naseeban faqaloo hatha lillahi bizaAAmihim wahatha lishurakaina fama kana lishurakaihim fala yasilu ila Allahi wama kana lillahi fahuwa yasilu ila shurakaihim saa ma yahkumoona

Translation:

They say, these cattle and crops are reserved; only those people can eat them, whom we allow. In fact, this is a restriction they themselves have imposed. Then there are some animals which have been forbidden for riding and carrying loads, and there are other animals over which they do not pronounce the name of Allah. They have falsely attributed all this to Allah before long Allah will recompense them for all that they have falsely attributed to Him.

Translit: Waqaloo hathihi anAAamun waharthun hijrun la yatAAamuha illa man nashao bizaAAmihim waanAAamun hurrimat thuhooruha waanAAamun la yathkuroona isma Allahi AAalayha iftiraan AAalayhi sayajzeehim bima kanoo yaftaroona

Translation:

And they say, "Whatever is within the bellies of these cattle is reserved for our males and forbidden to our females, but if it is dead, both may partake of it. Allah will surely recompense them for the things they have fabricated; indeed, He is All Wise, All Knowing.

Translit: Waqaloo ma fee butooni hathihi alanAAami khalisatun lithukoorina wamuharramun AAala azwajina wain yakun maytatan fahum feehi shurakao sayajzeehim wasfahum innahu hakeemun AAaleemun

Translation:

And it is He Who has created from among the cattle, beasts of burden and beasts for riding, and also those whose flesh you eat and whose skins you use for making beds; therefore eat of those provisions that Allah has given you and do not follow in the footsteps of Satan for he is your open enemy.

Translit: Wamina alanAAami hamoolatan wafarshan kuloo mimma razaqakumu Allahu wala tattabiAAoo khutuwati alshshaytani innahu lakum AAaduwwun mubeenun

Translation:

Allah said. "What prevented you from bowing down, when I commanded you?"He replied. "I am better than he; Thou created me of fire and created him of clay."

Translit: Qala ma manaAAaka alla tasjuda ith amartuka qala ana khayrun minhu khalaqtanee min narin wakhalaqtahu min teenin

Translation:

Then the inmates of Paradise will call out to the inmates of Hell, "We have found all the promises made to us by our Lord to be true: have you, too, found the promises trade to you by your Lord to be true?" They will say, "Yes". Then a herald in their midst will announce: "The curse of Allah be upon those evil-doers

Translit: Wanada ashabu aljannati ashaba alnnari an qad wajadna ma waAAadana rabbuna haqqan fahal wajadtum ma waAAada rabbukum haqqan qaloo naAAam faaththana muaththinun baynahum an laAAnatu Allahi AAala alththalimeena

Translation:

Now, are these people waiting for anything other than the consequence (of which they have been) warned in this Book? When the consequence will come before them, those very people who afore time had disregarded it, will say, "Indeed, the Messengers of our Lord had come with the Truth. Shall we have, then, any intercessors who will intercede for us? Or could we be sent back that we might do deeds different from those we did before?" They have, indeed, incurred heavy loss upon themselves and all the false things they had invented have forsaken them today.

Translit: Hal yanthuroona illa taweelahu yawma yatee taweeluhu yaqoolu allatheena nasoohu min qablu qad jaat rusulu rabbina bialhaqqi fahal lana min shufaAAaa fayashfaAAoo lana aw nuraddu fanaAAmala ghayra allathee kunna naAAmalu qad khasiroo anfusahum wadalla AAanhum ma kanoo yaftaroona

Translation:

They replied, "Have you come to us (with the demand) that we should worship Allah alone and discard those whom our forefathers have been worshiping? Well, bring on us the scourge with which you have been threatening us, if you are truthful."

Translit: Qaloo ajitana linaAAbuda Allaha wahdahu wanathara ma kana yaAAbudu abaona fatina bima taAAiduna in kunta mina alssadiqeena

Translation:

We shall be guilty of attributing a lie to Allah, if we return to your creed, after Allah has delivered us from it; nor can we now return to your creed, except that Allah, our Lord, wills it;73 the knowledge of our Lord embraces everything; in Allah we put our trust, Our Lord, judge with truth between us and our people, and Thou art the best of judges."

Translit: Qadi iftarayna AAala Allahi kathiban in AAudna fee millatikum baAAda ith najjana Allahu minha wama yakoonu lana an naAAooda feeha illa an yashaa Allahu rabbuna wasiAAa rabbuna kulla shayin AAilman AAala Allahi tawakkalna rabbana iftah baynana wabayna qawmina bialhaqqi waanta khayru alfatiheena

Pharaoh answered, "Yes, indeed, and you shall get a position close to me"

Translit: Qala naAAam wainnakum lamina almuqarrabeena

They said, "We have acknowledged the Lord of the worlds,

Translation:

(as for you,) you want to take vengeance upon us only because we believed in the Signs of our Lord, when they came before us. O our Lord, bestow fortitude upon us, causing us to die as those who have surrendered to Thee".

Translit: Wama tanqimu minna illa an amanna biayati rabbina lamma jaatna rabbana afrigh AAalayna sabran watawaffana muslimeena

Translation:

Then the chiefs of Pharaohs nation said to him, "Will you leave Moses and his people free to spread disorder in the land, and let them discard your service and that of your deities?" Pharaoh answered, "Well, I will have their sons slain and let their women live: we have a strong hold over them."

Translit: Waqala almalao min qawmi firAAawna atatharu moosa waqawmahu liyufsidoo fee alardi wayatharaka waalihataka qala sanuqattilu abnaahum wanastahyee nisaahum wainna fawqahum qahiroona

Translation:

And after them We gave as heritage to those who had been abased and kept low, the eastern and western parts of that land, which had been blessed bountifully by Us. Thus the promise of prosperity that your Lord had made with the Israelites was fulfilled, because they had shown fortitude. And We destroyed all that Pharaoh and his people had constructed and raised up.

Translit: Waawrathna alqawma allatheena kanoo yustadAAafoona mashariqa alardi wamagharibaha allatee barakna feeha watammat kalimatu rabbika alhusna AAala banee israeela bima sabaroo wadammarna ma kana yasnaAAu firAAawnu waqawmuhu wama kanoo yaAArishoona

Translation:

And (Allah says), "Recall the time when We rescued you from the people of Pharaoh, who afflicted you with a dreadful torment; they slew your sons and let your women live and in this was a great trial for you from your Lord!"

Translit: Waith anjaynakum min ali firAAawna yasoomoonakum sooa alAAathabi yuqattiloona abnaakum wayastahyoona nisaakum wafee thalikum balaon min rabbikum AAatheemun

Translation:

And this is a tact that there are many jinns and human beings whom We Dave created (as if) for Hell.140 they have hearts but they do not think with them; they have eyes but they do not see with them; they have ears but they do not Hear with them. They are like animals; nay.,even worse, for they are the people who have become utterly heedless.

Translit: Walaqad tharana lijahannama katheeran mina aljinni waalinsi lahum quloobun la yafqahoona biha walahum aAAyunun la yubsiroona biha walahum athanun la yasmaAAoona biha olaika kaalanAAami bal hum adallu olaika humu alghafiloona

Translation:

(Say to the disbelievers: ) "If you desired a decision, lo! the decision has come before you. It is best for you to desist from it now: but if you repeat the same folly, We will also repeat the same punishment and your forces, howsoever large their number, shall avail you nothing, for Allah is with the Believers."

Translit: In tastaftihoo faqad jaakumu alfathu wain tantahoo fahuwa khayrun lakum wain taAAoodoo naAAud walan tughniya AAankum fiatukum shayan walaw kathurat waanna Allaha maAAa almumineena

Translation:

This happened in accordance with Allahs way that He does not withdraw the favor He bestows on any people unless they themselves change their ways. Allah hears everything and knows everything.

Their Lord gives them the good news of His mercy and His pleasure and of the Gardens, wherein is everlasting bliss for them:

Translit: Yubashshiruhum rabbuhum birahmatin minhu waridwanin wajannatin lahum feeha naAAeemun muqeemun

Translation:

The reason why their expenditures shall not be accepted is no other than that they have not believed in Allah and His Messenger: and they come to offer their Salat but reluctantly, and they expend in the Way of Allah with unwilling hearts.

Translit: Wama manaAAahum an tuqbala minhum nafaqatuhum illa annahum kafaroo biAllahi wabirasoolihi wala yatoona alssalata illa wahum kusala wala yunfiqoona illa wahum karihoona

Translation:

Do not invent excuses now; you have indeed denied the truth after you had professed belief in it. Even if We pardon some of you, We will surely chastise others of you, for they are the guilty ones"

Translit: La taAAtathiroo qad kafartum baAAda eemanikum in naAAfu AAan taifatin minkum nuAAaththib taifatan biannahum kanoo mujrimeena

Translation:

There are many hypocrites among the Bedouins who dwell around you; likewise among the citizens of Al-Madinah there are hypocrites who have become experts in hypocrisy. You do not know them, but We do know them.97 The time is coming when We will give them double chastisement:98 then they shall be returned to a far greater torment.

Translit: Wamimman hawlakum mina alaAArabi munafiqoona wamin ahli almadeenati maradoo AAala alnnifaqi la taAAlamuhum nahnu naAAlamuhum sanuAAaththibuhum marratayni thumma yuraddoona ila AAathabin AAatheemin

Translation:

"Did it seem strange to the people that We should have inspired a man from among themselves to warn the (neglectful) people, and to give the Believers the good news that they will have real honor and success with their Lord? (Is this the thing that) led the unbelievers to say, "This man is a manifest enchanter?"

Translit: Akana lilnnasi AAajaban an awhayna ila rajulin minhum an anthiri alnnasa wabashshiri allatheena amanoo anna lahum qadama sidqin AAinda rabbihim qala alkafiroona inna hatha lasahirun mubeenun

Translation:

And it is also a fact that, because of their faith, Allah will guide aright those who believe (sincerely in the Truths that have been presented in this Book) and do righteous deeds; and canals will be flowing underneath there in the Gardens of bliss.

Translit: Inna allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati yahdeehim rabbuhum bieemanihim tajree min tahtihimu alanharu fee jannati alnnaAAeemi

Translation:

Had Allah hastened in dealing out evil to people as they hastened in asking good of the world, the term allowed to them for action would have been terminated long before this. (But this is not Our Way:) We let wander in their rebellion those people who do not expect to meet Us.

Translit: Walaw yuAAajjilu Allahu lilnnasi alshsharra istiAAjalahum bialkhayri laqudiya ilayhim ajaluhum fanatharu allatheena la yarjoona liqaana fee tughyanihim yaAAmahoona

Translation:

This worldly life (which has so enamored you that you have become neglectful of Our Signs) may be likened to the produce of the earth: We sent rain-water from the sky, and the crops of which man and animals eat, grew up luxuriantly. Then at that very time, when the land was at its best, and the crops had ripened and decked out and the owners were presuming that they would be able to benefit from them, Our Command came all of a sudden by night or by day, and We destroyed it so thoroughly as though nothing had existed there the previous day. Thus We expound Our Signs in detail for the consideration of those people who are thoughtful.

Translit: Innama mathalu alhayati alddunya kamain anzalnahu mina alssamai faikhtalata bihi nabatu alardi mimma yakulu alnnasu waalanAAamu hatta itha akhathati alardu zukhrufaha waizzayyanat wathanna ahluha annahum qadiroona AAalayha ataha amruna laylan aw naharan fajaAAalnaha haseedan kaan lam taghna bialamsi kathalika nufassilu alayati liqawmin yatafakkaroona

Translation:

Maybe, We let you witness some of the dire consequences with which We threaten them or raise you to Ourselves before this. Anyway they shall have to return to Us and Allah is a witness to what they are doing.

Translit: Waimma nuriyannaka baAAda allathee naAAiduhum aw natawaffayannaka failayna marjiAAuhum thumma Allahu shaheedun AAala ma yafAAaloona

Translation:

And if after the adversity that had visited him. We bestow favors upon him, he says, "All my sorrows have gone from me," and grows over-jubilant and arrogant.

Translit: Walain athaqnahu naAAmaa baAAda darraa massathu layaqoolanna thahaba alssayyiatu AAannee innahu lafarihun fakhoorun

Translation:

But there is nothing except the Fire for them in the Next World. (There they shall come to know) that all that they did in this world had come to naught and whatever they did was useless and worthless.

Translit: Olaika allatheena laysa lahum fee alakhirati illa alnnaru wahabita ma sanaAAoo feeha wabatilun ma kanoo yaAAmaloona

Translation:

but start to build an Ark under Our supervision in accordance with Our Revelation. And beware that you do not plead with Me for those who had been unjust: indeed now they shall all be drowned."

Translit: WaisnaAAi alfulka biaAAyunina wawahyina wala tukhatibnee fee allatheena thalamoo innahum mughraqoona

Translation:

So he began to build the Ark. And whoso of the chiefs of his people passed by him, he jeered at him. Noah said, "Laugh at us, if you will; we. too, are laughing at you; for soon you shall come to know who is visited by the torment that will disgrace him, and who is afflicted with the inevitable and lasting calamity."

Translit: WayasnaAAu alfulka wakullama marra AAalayhi malaon min qawmihi sakhiroo minhu qala in taskharoo minna fainna naskharu minkum kama taskharoona

Translation:

They replied "O Salih, till now you were such a person among us of whom we had great expectations. What! do you forbid us to worship gods whom our forefathers worshiped? Indeed we have a strong doubt about the way to which you are calling us and this has caused a feeling of distraction in us."

Translit: Qaloo ya salihu qad kunta feena marjuwwan qabla hatha atanhana an naAAbuda ma yaAAbudu abaona wainnana lafee shakkin mimma tadAAoona ilayhi mureebun

Translation:

This is the narrative of that time, when Joseph said to his father, "O father, I have seen in a dream eleven stars and the sun and the moon; I saw that they were prostrating themselves before me."

Translit: Ith qala yoosufu liabeehi ya abati innee raaytu ahada AAashara kawkaban waalshshamsa waalqamara raaytuhum lee sajideenaa

Translation:

After this consultation, they said to their father, "Father, why is it that you do not trust in us in regard to Joseph, though we are his sincere well-wishers?

Translit: Qaloo ya abana ma laka la tamanna AAala yoosufa wainna lahu lanasihoona

Translation:

They demand from you the hastening of evil rather than good, though indeed there have been instances of exemplary punishments before them (of the wrath of God on the people who adopted the same attitude.) The fact is that your Lord shows forbearance to the people despite their transgressions, and it is also the fact that your Lord is stern in retribution.

Translit: WayastaAAjiloonaka bialssayyiati qabla alhasanati waqad khalat min qablihimu almathulatu wainna rabbaka lathoo maghfiratin lilnnasi AAala thulmihim wainna rabbaka lashadeedu alAAiqabi

Translation:

And what (do you think) would have been the result, if We had sent a Quran that would have caused the mountains to move or cleft the earth asunder or made the dead speak? (It is not difficult at all to show such Signs) for Allah has full power over everything. Have the Believers (still any expectations of a Sign in answer to the demand of the disbelievers and) not given up all hope, (knowing) that Allah could have guided all mankind aright, if He had so desired? As for the disbelievers, because of their misdeeds, one affliction or the other does not cease to visit them every now and then, or come near their home. It will go on like this until Allahs threat come to pass. Indeed, Allah does not fail to bring about His threat.

Translit: Walaw anna quranan suyyirat bihi aljibalu aw quttiAAat bihi alardu aw kullima bihi almawta bal lillahi alamru jameeAAan afalam yayasi allatheena amanoo an law yashao Allahu lahada alnnasa jameeAAan wala yazalu allatheena kafaroo tuseebuhum bima sanaAAoo qariAAatun aw tahullu qareeban min darihim hatta yatiya waAAdu Allahi inna Allaha la yukhlifu almeeAAada

Translation:

And O Prophet! Rest assured that We will carry out the threat We are holding out to them whether a part of it should happen during your lifetime or We should cause you to die before its fulfillment. Anyhow your duty is only to convey the Message and it is for Us to do the reckoning.

Translit: Wain ma nuriyannaka baAAda allathee naAAiduhum aw natawaffayannaka fainnama AAalayka albalaghu waAAalayna alhisabu

Translation:

Recall (the time) when Moses said to his people, "Remember Allahs favor on you: He delivered you from Pharaohs people who oppressed you with cruel afflictions: they slaughtered your sons and let your females live. In this there was a hard trial for you from your Lord.

Translit: Waith qala moosa liqawmihi othkuroo niAAmata Allahi AAalaykum ith anjakum min ali firAAawna yasoomoonakum sooa alAAathabi wayuthabbihoona abnaakum wayastahyoona nisaakum wafee thalikum balaon min rabbikum AAatheemun

It bears good fruit every moment by the permission of its Lord.

Translit: Tutee okulaha kulla heenin biithni rabbiha wayadribu Allahu alamthala lilnnasi laAAallahum yatathakkaroona

Translation:

Recall the time, when Abraham prayed, saying, "Lord! make this city a city of peace, and protect me and my descendants from the worship of idols.

Translit: Waith qala ibraheemu rabbi ijAAal hatha albalada aminan waojnubnee wabaniyya an naAAbuda alasnama

Translation:

This is a Message for mankind so that they may be warned by it and realize that in fact there is but One God, and that men of understanding may learn a lesson from it.

Translit: Hatha balaghun lilnnasi waliyuntharoo bihi waliyaAAlamoo annama huwa ilahun wahidun waliyaththakkara oloo alalbabi

We know that your heart is distressed at the things they say against you.

Translit: Walaqad naAAlamu annaka yadeequ sadruka bima yaqooloona

Translation:

He has created cattle, which provide you with clothing and food, and there are other benefits also for you in them;

Translit: WaalanAAama khalaqaha lakum feeha difon wamanafiAAu waminha takuloona

Translation:

Yes , this is for those disbelievers, who, while they are still engaged in wronging themselves, shall surrender themselves when seized by the angels, saying, "We were doing nothing wrong at all." The angels will retort, "What, dare you deny this! Allah is fully aware of what you were doing.

Translit: Allatheena tatawaffahumu almalaikatu thalimee anfusihim faalqawoo alssalama ma kunna naAAmalu min sooin bala inna Allaha AAaleemun bima kuntum taAAmaloona

Translation:

We sent the former Messengers with clear Signs and Books, and now We have sent the Admonition to you (O Muhammad!), so that you should make plain and explain to the people the teachings of the Book which has been sent for them;40 and so that they (themselves) should ponder over it.

Translit: Bialbayyinati waalzzuburi waanzalna ilayka alththikra litubayyina lilnnasi ma nuzzila ilayhim walaAAallahum yatafakkaroona

Translation:

And surely there is a lesson for you in the cattle: We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies between filth and blood, that is, pure milk, which is very pleasant to those who drink it.

Translit: Wainna lakum fee alanAAami laAAibratan nusqeekum mimma fee butoonihi min bayni farthin wadamin labanan khalisan saighan lilshsharibeena

Translation:

then drink nectar from every kind of fruit, and follow the ways made smooth by the Lord."57 From its belly comes out a fluid of varying hues wherein is healing for mankind.58 Here is indeed a Sign for those people who ponder over it.

Translit: Thumma kulee min kulli alththamarati faoslukee subula rabbiki thululan yakhruju min butooniha sharabun mukhtalifun alwanuhu feehi shifaon lilnnasi inna fee thalika laayatan liqawmin yatafakkaroona

Translation:

Allah has made your homes places of rest and peace for you: and from the skins of cattle He has made for you houses which you find light during your journey and at the time of your halt. And from their soft fur and wool and hair, He has furnished you with many things for clothing and domestic service which are very useful to you during your prescribed term of life.

Translit: WaAllahu jaAAala lakum min buyootikum sakanan wajaAAala lakum min juloodi alanAAami buyootan tastakhiffoonaha yawma thaAAnikum wayawma iqamatikum wamin aswafiha waawbariha waashAAariha athathan wamataAAan ila heenin

Translation:

We know very well what they say about you: "Surely a certain person teaches him." But the person to whom they allude speaks a foreign tongue, and this (Quran) is in plain Arabic.

Translit: Walaqad naAAlamu annahum yaqooloona innama yuAAallimuhu basharun lisanu allathee yulhidoona ilayhi aAAjamiyyun wahatha lisanun AAarabiyyun mubeenun

Translation:

Allah cites the instance of a habitation: it was enjoying a life of peace and security and was receiving its provisions in abundance from every quarter. Hut when it began to show ingratitude towards the favors of Allah, He made its inhabitants taste the consequences of their doings, and inflicted misfortunes of hunger and fear on them.

Translit: Wadaraba Allahu mathalan qaryatan kanat aminatan mutmainnatan yateeha rizquha raghadan min kulli makanin fakafarat bianAAumi Allahi faathaqaha Allahu libasa aljooAAi waalkhawfi bima kanoo yasnaAAoona

Translation:

he was always grateful for Allahs favors. Accordingly Allah chose him and showed him the Right Way.

Translit: Shakiran lianAAumihi ijtabahu wahadahu ila siratin mustaqeemin

Translation:

And nothing has hindered Us from sending Signs except that the former people refused to acknowledge them as such. (For example,) We sent the She-camel as an open Sign to Thamud but they treated her with cruelty; whereas We send Signs only by way of warning.

Translit: Wama manaAAana an nursila bialayati illa an kaththaba biha alawwaloona waatayna thamooda alnnaqata mubsiratan fathalamoo biha wama nursilu bialayati illa takhweefan

Translation:

Call to mind, O Muhammad! We told you at the very beginning that your Lord is encircling these people. And We made what We have shown you now and also the Tree which has been cursed in the Qur'an as a trial for these people." We are giving them warning after warning but each warning helps only to increase their insurrection.

Translit: Waith qulna laka inna rabbaka ahata bialnnasi wama jaAAalna alrruya allatee araynaka illa fitnatan lilnnasi waalshshajarata almalAAoonata fee alqurani wanukhawwifuhum fama yazeeduhum illa tughyanan kabeeran

Man is a (strange) creature: when We bestow favor on him, he behaves arrogantly and turns his back, but when misfortune befalls him, he begins to despair.

Translit: Waitha anAAamna AAala alinsani aAArada wanaa bijanibihi waitha massahu alshsharru kana yaoosan

Translation:

In this Qur'an, We employed different ways to make the people understand the Message, but the majority of them persisted in unbelief,

Translit: Walaqad sarrafna lilnnasi fee hatha alqurani min kulli mathalin faaba aktharu alnnasi illa kufooran

Whenever Guidance came before the people nothing prevented them from believing in it except this (excuse): they said: "Did Allah send a human being as His Messenger?"

Translit: Wama manaAAa alnnasa an yuminoo ith jaahumu alhuda illa an qaloo abaAAatha Allahu basharan rasoolan

Then We raised them up in order to test which of them were able to calculate correctly the period of their stay there.

Translit: Thumma baAAathnahum linaAAlama ayyu alhizbayni ahsa lima labithoo amadan

Translation:

Proclaim, "This is the Truth from your Lord: now whosoever will, he may accept it and whosoever will, he may reject it.â€ (As for those who reject this,) We have prepared for such workers of iniquity a fire whose flames have encircled them. If they will ask for water there, they will be treated with such a drink as will have its residue like that of oil and burn their lips: what an evil drink and what an evil abode!

Translit: Waquli alhaqqu min rabbikum faman shaa falyumin waman shaa falyakfur inna aAAtadna lilththalimeena naran ahata bihim suradiquha wain yastagheethoo yughathoo bimain kaalmuhli yashwee alwujooha bisa alshsharabu wasaat murtafaqan

We have devised different ways in the Qur'an to make the people understand its Message, but man is by nature very contentious.

Translit: Walaqad sarrafna fee hatha alqurani lilnnasi min kulli mathalin wakana alinsanu akthara shayin jadalan

Translation:

(The question is) what kept them back from accepting guidance when it came before them and from asking the forgiveness of their Lord? It is nothing more than this that they are waiting for the same thing to happen to them that visited the former communities; or that they should see the scourge of Allah coming before them!

Translit: Wama manaAAa alnnasa an yuminoo ith jaahumu alhuda wayastaghfiroo rabbahum illa an tatiyahum sunnatu alawwaleena aw yatiyahumu alAAathabu qubulan

Translation:

Come, bring sheets of iron for me. "When he had filled the space between the two mountains, he said to the people, "Now, ply your bellows.â€ They did so till that (iron-wall) became red-hot and he said, "Now let me pour molten brass upon it.â€

Translit: Atoonee zubara alhadeedi hatta itha sawa bayna alsadafayni qala onfukhoo hatta itha jaAAalahu naran qala atoonee ofrigh AAalayhi qitran

They are those, whose endeavors, in the worldly life, had all gone astray from the Right Way but all along they were under the delusion that everything they were doing, was rightly directed:

Translit: Allatheena dalla saAAyuhum fee alhayati alddunya wahum yahsaboona annahum yuhsinoona sunAAan

Translation:

The angel replied, "So shall it be. Your Lord says, `This is an easy thing for Me to do, and We will do so in order to make that boy a Sign for the people and a blessing from Us, and this must happen."

Translit: Qala kathaliki qala rabbuki huwa AAalayya hayyinun walinajAAalahu ayatan lilnnasi warahmatan minna wakana amran maqdiyyan

Translation:

These are the Messengers on whom Allah bestowed His favors: they were from the descendants of Adam, and from the seed of those whom We carried in the Ark with Noah, and from the seed of Abraham and of Israel. They were among those people whom We guided aright and made Our chosen ones. They were so tender-hearted that when the Revelations of the Merciful were recited to them, they fell down prostrate in a state of weeping.

Translit: Olaika allatheena anAAama Allahu AAalayhim mina alnnabiyyeena min thurriyyati adama wamimman hamalna maAAa noohin wamin thurriyyati ibraheema waisraeela wamimman hadayna waijtabayna itha tutla AAalayhim ayatu alrrahmani kharroo sujjadan wabukiyyan

Well, you need not become impatient for the coming of the scourge on them, for We are numbering their days.

Translit: Fala taAAjal AAalayhim innama naAAuddu lahum AAaddan

When he saw a fire he said to his family, "Wait a bit, I have seen a fire: it may be that I bring a burning brand for you, or find guidance (to the way) at the fire."

Translit: Ith raa naran faqala liahlihi omkuthoo innee anastu naran laAAallee ateekum minha biqabasin aw ajidu AAala alnnari hudan

I am your Lord; take off your shoes, for you are in the sacred valley of Tuwa.

Translation:

Place this child in a box and put the box in the river; the river will cast it on to the bank and My enemy and his enemy will pick it up. I Myself made you an object of love and so arranged things that you should be brought up under My supervision.

Translit: Ani iqthifeehi fee alttabooti faiqthifeehi fee alyammi falyulqihi alyammu bialssahili yakhuthhu AAaduwwun lee waAAaduwwun lahu waalqaytu AAalayka mahabbatan minnee walitusnaAAa AAala AAaynee

Cast down what is in your hand, and it will swallow up all their sham creation; for they are mere tricks of a magician; and a magician can never succeed, howsoever skilled he may be."

Translation:

Accordingly, at the end of the encounter, all the magicians were cast down to prostration and they cried out, "We believe in the Lord of Aaron and Moses."

Translit: Faolqiya alssaharatu sujjadan qaloo amanna birabbi haroona wamoosa

Translation:

We have believed in our Lord so that He may pardon our errors, and forgive us the sin of sorcery which you forced us to practice. Allah is Best and Eternal."

Translit: Inna amanna birabbina liyaghfira lana khatayana wama akrahtana AAalayhi mina alssihri waAllahu khayrun waabqa

(After rebuking the people, Moses turned to Aaron) and said,"O Aaron, what prevented you from following my way when you saw that they were going astray?

The time of the reckoning of the people has drawn near, and yet they are turning away (from the Admonition) in heedlessness.

Translit: Iqtaraba lilnnasi hisabuhum wahum fee ghaflatin muAAridoona

Translation:

Do they have gods who can defend them against Us? (No) for they can neither help themselves nor are they helped by Us.

Translit: Am lahum alihatun tamnaAAuhum min doonina la yastateeAAoona nasra anfusihim wala hum minna yushaboona

Translation:

And We taught him for your benefit the armorer's craft so that you might protect yourselves from each other's violence. Are you, then, grateful?

Translit: WaAAallamnahu sanAAata laboosin lakum lituhsinakum min basikum fahal antum shakiroona

Translation:

Those who disbelieved, and are (now) debarring others from the Way of Allah and from visiting that Sacred Mosque, which We have assigned to all mankind with equal rights for its dwellers and the outsiders, (surely deserve punishment); whosoever shall deviate from righteousness, and adopt in this (Sacred Mosque) the way of iniquity, We will make him taste a painful chastisement.

Translit: Inna allatheena kafaroo wayasuddoona AAan sabeeli Allahi waalmasjidi alharami allathee jaAAalnahu lilnnasi sawaan alAAakifu feehi waalbadi waman yurid feehi biilhadin bithulmin nuthiqhu min AAathabin aleemin

so that they may witness the benefits that have been made available here for them: and during the known appointed days, they should mention the name of Allah over the cattle He has provided them: then they may eat their flesh and also give of it to the indigent and needy.

Translit: Liyashhadoo manafiAAa lahum wayathkuroo isma Allahi fee ayyamin maAAloomatin AAala ma razaqahum min baheemati alanAAami fakuloo minha waatAAimoo albaisa alfaqeera

Translation:

This was (the object for which the Ka`bah was built,) and whoso observes the sanctity of the things ordained by Allah, it will be best for him in the sight of his Lord. And the cattle have been made lawful for you except what has already been mentioned to you; therefore guard yourselves against the filth of idols, and refrain from all false things.

Translit: Thalika waman yuAAaththim hurumati Allahi fahuwa khayrun lahu AAinda rabbihi waohillat lakumu alanAAamu illa ma yutla AAalaykum faijtaniboo alrrijsa mina alawthani waijtaniboo qawla alzzoori

For every community We have prescribed a way of sacrifice so that the people (of that community) should pronounce the name of Allah over the cattle which He has provided for them, (but one and the same object underlies all the different ways). So your Deity is One Deity: surrender to Him alone. And, O Prophet, give good news to those who adopt a humble way,

Translit: Walikulli ommatin jaAAalna mansakan liyathkuroo isma Allahi AAala ma razaqahum min baheemati alanAAami failahukum ilahun wahidun falahu aslimoo wabashshiri almukhbiteena

Translation:

And, O Muhammad, (it has always been so with) every Messenger and Prophet We sent before you that whenever he had a desire, Satan tried to interfere with his desire. But Allah eradicates the mischiefs worked by Satan and confirms His Revelations, for Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise,

Translit: Wama arsalna min qablika min rasoolin wala nabiyyin illa itha tamanna alqa alshshaytanu fee omniyyatihi fayansakhu Allahu ma yulqee alshshaytanu thumma yuhkimu Allahu ayatihi waAllahu AAaleemun hakeemun

On that Day Allah will reign supreme, and He will judge between them; then those who will have believed and done righteous works, will go to the Gardens of Bliss,

And We created the tree which grows on Mount Sinai, it gives oil and is used as food also by those who like to eat it.

In fact, there is a lesson for you in the cattle: We give you as a drink of that which is in their bellies, and besides this you get other benefits from them: you eat their flesh

Translation:

At this, We revealed to him: Build an ark under Our supervision, according to Our instructions. Then, when Our Command comes and "at-Tannur" begins to boil up, take aboard a pair of every species of animals, and also the members of your own family except those against whom the judgment has already been passed; and do not plead with Me for the workers of iniquity, for they are doomed to be drowned.

Translit: Faawhayna ilayhi ani isnaAAi alfulka biaAAyunina wawahyina faitha jaa amruna wafara alttannooru faosluk feeha min kullin zawjayni ithnayni waahlaka illa man sabaqa AAalayhi alqawlu minhum wala tukhatibnee fee allatheena thalamoo innahum mughraqoona

And the fact is that We have the power to make you a witness of what they are being threatened with.

Translit: Wainna AAala an nuriyaka ma naAAiduhum laqadiroona

For, you are the very same people, who made fun of some of Our servants when they prayed to Us, `Our Lord, we have believed: so forgive us and have mercy, on us, for You are the Most Merciful of all who show mercy?

Translit: Innahu kana fareequn min AAibadee yaqooloona rabbana amanna faighfir lana wairhamna waanta khayru alrrahimeena

And O Prophet, enjoin the Believing men to restrain their gaze and guard their private parts. This is a more righteous way for them: Allah has knowledge of what they do.

Translit: Qul lilmumineena yaghuddoo min absarihum wayahfathoo furoojahum thalika azka lahum inna Allaha khabeerun bima yasnaAAoona

Translation:

Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth: His light (in the universe) may be likened (to the light of) a lamp in a niche: the lamp is in a glass shade: the glass shade is like a glittering star and lamp is lit with the olive oil of a blessed tree which is neither eastern nor western: its oil is (so fine) as if it were going to shine forth by itself though no fire touched it (as though all the means of increasing) light upon light (were provided ); Allah guides to His light whomever He wills. He cites parables to make the Message clear to the people; He has perfect knowledge of everything.

Translit: Allahu nooru alssamawati waalardi mathalu noorihi kamishkatin feeha misbahun almisbahu fee zujajatin alzzujajatu kaannaha kawkabun durriyyun yooqadu min shajaratin mubarakatin zaytoonatin la sharqiyyatin wala gharbiyyatin yakadu zaytuha yudeeo walaw lam tamsashu narun noorun AAala noorin yahdee Allahu linoorihi man yashao wayadribu Allahu alamthala lilnnasi waAllahu bikulli shayin AAaleemun

Translation:

These people say "We have believed in Allah and the Messenger and we have submitted"; but soon after this, some of them turn away (from obedience): such people are not true Believers.

Translit: Wayaqooloona amanna biAllahi wabialrrasooli waataAAna thumma yatawalla fareequn minhum min baAAdi thalika wama olaika bialmumineena

Translation:

The same was the case with the people of Noah when they charged the Messenger with imposture. We drowned them and made them a sign of warning for entire mankind, and We have prepared a painful chastisement for the unjust.

Can you take the responsibility of guiding such a one aright? Do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like the cattle; nay, even worse than the cattle.

so that He may revive the dead land, and quench the thirst of many of His creatures from among beasts and men.

(Tell them the story of the time) when Moses said to the people of his house, "I have seen a fire: I may either bring some information from there or a burning brand so that you may warm yourselves.

Hearing its words, Solomon laughed smilingly and said "O My Lord, restrain me so that I may render thanks to Thee for Thy favors which Thou hast bestowed upon the and my parents, and (enable me) to do such good works as may please Thee; and admit me, by Thy mercy, among Thy righteous servants."

Today, you see the mountains and think that they are firmly set, but on that Day they will be flying about like the clouds; this will be a manifestation of the powers of Allah, Who has ordered everything with wisdom. He is fully aware of what you do.

The fact is that Pharaoh adopted an attitude of rebellion in the land and divided its dwellers into groups, one of which he debased, putting their sons to death, and letting their daughters live: indeed he was one of the mischief-makers.

Moses promised, "O my Lord, after this favor that You have shown me, I shall never again be a helper of the criminals."

After We had destroyed the former generations, We gave Moses the Book, which We made a means of enlightenment for the people, and a Guidance and a Mercy, so that they may learn lessons.

Translit: Walaqad atayna moosa alkitaba min baAAdi ma ahlakna alquroona aloola basaira lilnnasi wahudan warahmatan laAAallahum yatathakkaroona

and when it is recited to them, they say, "We have believed in it: this is indeed the Truth from our Lord: we were Muslims even before this."

Now the same people who yearned for his lot the day before, began to say, "Alas! We had forgotten that Allah extends the provisions for whom He wills of His servants and restricts it for whom He wills. If Allah had not been gracious to us, He would have sunk us also underground. Alas! We did not remember that the disbelievers do never prosper."

Do the people think that they will be left alone after they have once said, "We have believed," and they will not be tested?

Translit: Ahasiba alnnasu an yutrakoo an yaqooloo amanna wahum la yuftanoona

The fact is that we have put to test all those who have gone before them. Surely, Allah has to see who are the truthful and who the liars.

Translit: Walaqad fatanna allatheena min qablihim falayaAAlamanna Allahu allatheena sadaqoo walayaAAlamanna alkathibeena

Translation:

There is among the people such a one, who says, "We have believed in Allah", but when he was persecuted in the cause of Allah, he deemed the persecution by the people as the punishment of Allah. Now if there comes help and victory from your Lord, the same person Will say, "We were with you". Is not Allah fully aware of what is in the hearts of the people of the world?

Translit: Wamina alnnasi man yaqoolu amanna biAllahi faitha oothiya fee Allahi jaAAala fitnata alnnasi kaAAathabi Allahi walain jaa nasrun min rabbika layaqoolunna inna kunna maAAakum awalaysa Allahu biaAAlama bima fee sudoori alAAalameena

And surely Allah has to see who are the believers and who the hypocrites.

These parables We cite for the instruction of the people, but only those people understand them, who have knowledge.

Translit: Watilka alamthalu nadribuha lilnnasi wama yaAAqiluha illa alAAalimoona

(O Prophet, ) recite this Book which has been revealed to you, and establish the Salat. Surely the Salat restrains from indecent and evil acts, and the remembrance of Allah is a thing even greater than this; Allah knows whatever you do.

Translit: Otlu ma oohiya ilayka mina alkitabi waaqimi alssalata inna alssalata tanha AAani alfahshai waalmunkari walathikru Allahi akbaru waAllahu yaAAlamu ma tasnaAAoona

And do not dispute with the people of the Book except in the best manner, save with those who are wicked among them and say to them, "We have believed in that which has been sent down to us as well as in that which had been sent down to you. Our God and your God is One, and to Him we have surrendered (as Muslims).

Translit: Wala tujadiloo ahla alkitabi illa biallatee hiya ahsanu illa allatheena thalamoo minhum waqooloo amanna biallathee onzila ilayna waonzila ilaykum wailahuna wailahukum wahidun wanahnu lahu muslimoona

We have set forth in this Qur'an every sort of argument to make the people understand, but whatever Sign you may bring, the disbelievers will certainly say, " You are following falsehood."

Translit: Walaqad darabna lilnnasi fee hatha alqurani min kulli mathalin walain jitahum biayatin layaqoolanna allatheena kafaroo in antum illa mubtiloona

However, for those who believe and do good works, there are blissful Gardens

And do not speak to the people with your face turned away, nor walk proudly. on the earth, for Allah does not love any self-conceited, boastful person.

Translit: Wala tusaAAAAir khaddaka lilnnasi wala tamshi fee alardi marahan inna Allaha la yuhibbu kulla mukhtalin fakhoorin

Translation:

Would that you could see the criminals when they will be standing before their Lord with hanging heads. (Then they will be saying: "Our Lord, we have indeed seen and heard: now send us back so that we may act righteously: we are now convinced."

Translit: Walaw tara ithi almujrimoona nakisoo ruoosihim AAinda rabbihim rabbana absarna wasamiAAna faarjiAAna naAAmal salihan inna mooqinoona

Translation:

And have they never seen how We cause the water to flow to a barren land and there from bring forth crops of which their animals and they themselves eat? Do they not see anything?

Translit: Awalam yaraw anna nasooqu almaa ila alardi aljuruzi fanukhriju bihi zarAAan takulu minhu anAAamuhum waanfusuhum afala yubsiroona

Translation:

Allah has not put two hearts in a person's body, nor has He made those wives of yours whom you divorce by Zihar your mothers, nor has made your adopted sons your real sons. These are the things which you utter from your mouths, but Allah says that which is based on the reality and He alone guides to the Right Way.

Translit: Ma jaAAala Allahu lirajulin min qalbayni fee jawfihi wama jaAAala azwajakumu allaee tuthahiroona minhunna ommahatikum wama jaAAala adAAiyaakum abnaakum thalikum qawlukum biafwahikum waAllahu yaqoolu alhaqqa wahuwa yahdee alssabeela

Translation:

O Prophet, remember the time when you were saying to the man, whom Allah as well as you had favored,"Keep your wife and fear Allah." You were at that time keeping hidden in your heart that which Allah intended to reveal: you were fearing the people, whereas Allah has a greater right that you should fear Him. So, when Zaid had fulfilled his desire of her, We married (the divorced woman) to you so that there remains no hindrance for the believers in regard to the wives of their adopted sons when they have fulfilled their desire of them. And Allah's Command had to be carried out.

Translit: Waith taqoolu lillathee anAAama Allahu AAalayhi waanAAamta AAalayhi amsik AAalayka zawjaka waittaqi Allaha watukhfee fee nafsika ma Allahu mubdeehi watakhsha alnnasa waAllahu ahaqqu an takhshahu falamma qada zaydun minha wataran zawwajnakaha likay la yakoona AAala almumineena harajun fee azwaji adAAiyaihim itha qadaw minhunna wataran wakana amru Allahi mafAAoolan

Iblis did not have any power over them, but whatever happened, it happened because We wanted to see who believed in the Hereafter and who cherished any doubt about it. Your Lord is Watchful over everything.

Translit: Wama kana lahu AAalayhim min sultanin illa linaAAlama man yuminu bialakhirati mimman huwa minha fee shakkin warabbuka AAala kulli shayin hafeethun

And (O Prophet,) We have sent you to the entire mankind as a bearer of good news and a warner, but most people do not know.

Then they will say, "We believe in it," whereas they cannot attain a thing gone far out of hand.

Translit: Waqaloo amanna bihi waanna lahumu alttanawushu min makanin baAAeedin

Translation:

Whatever door of mercy Allah may open for the people, none can withhold it, and the door that He closes, none has the power to open it after Him. He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

Translit: Ma yaftahi Allahu lilnnasi min rahmatin fala mumsika laha wama yumsik fala mursila lahu min baAAdihi wahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeemu

Translation:

(Can the deviation of that person be imagined) whose evil deed is made seem fair to him and he deems it as good? The fact is that Allah leads astray whomsoever He pleases and shows the Right Way to whomsoever He pleases. So, (O Prophet,) let not yourself be consumed with grief for the sake of these people. Allah is aware of whatever they are doing.

Translit: Afaman zuyyina lahu sooo AAamalihi faraahu hasanan fainna Allaha yudillu man yashao wayahdee man yashao fala tathhab nafsuka AAalayhim hasaratin inna Allaha AAaleemun bima yasnaAAoona

Translation:

And likewise, men, beasts and cattle also have different colors. The fact is that only those of His servants, who possess knowledge, fear Allah. Surely, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Forgiving.

Translit: Wamina alnnasi waalddawabbi waalanAAami mukhtalifun alwanuhu kathalika innama yakhsha Allaha min AAibadihi alAAulamao inna Allaha AAazeezun ghafoorun

There they will cry out and say, "Our Lord, take us out from here so that we may do good works other than those which we had been doing." (The reply will be) "Did We not give you lives long enough so that he who would, could take a warning? And the warner also had come to you. Now taste (the torment). The wicked will have no helper here."

Translit: Wahum yastarikhoona feeha rabbana akhrijna naAAmal salihan ghayra allathee kunna naAAmalu awalam nuAAammirkum ma yatathakkaru feehi man tathakkara wajaakumu alnnatheeru fathooqoo fama lilththalimeena min naseerin

Do they not see that out of what Our hands have fashioned, We have created for them cattle of which they are masters?

Translit: Awalam yaraw anna khalaqna lahum mimma AAamilat aydeena anAAaman fahum laha malikoona

Well, let not their words grieve you: We know whatever they hide and whatever they reveal.

Translit: Fala yahzunka qawluhum inna naAAlamu ma yusirroona wama yuAAlinoona

He it is Who created fire for you from the green tree, with which you kindle your fuel.

Say to them, "Yes, and you are helpless (against God).

and gardens of delight wherein they shall be lodged with honor.

This is my brother. He has ninety-nine ewes and I have only one ewe. He said to me, `Give this ewe also in my charge, and he has prevailed over me in the dispute'."

Translit: Inna hatha akhee lahu tisAAun watisAAoona naAAjatan waliya naAAjatun wahidatun faqala akfilneeha waAAazzanee fee alkhitabi

Translation:

David replied, "This person has certainly wronged you in demanding your ewe to be added to his ewes. And the fact is that the people who live together often wrong one another; the only exception are those who believe and do good works, and they are few. " (While he said this) David realized that We had, in fact, tried him. So he asked forgiveness of his Lord and fell down prostrate and turned (to Him).

Translit: Qala laqad thalamaka bisuali naAAjatika ila niAAajihi wainna katheeran mina alkhulatai layabghee baAAduhum AAala baAAdin illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati waqaleelun ma hum wathanna dawoodu annama fatannahu faistaghfara rabbahu wakharra rakiAAan waanaba

And they will say to one another, "How is it that we do not see those whom we regarded as bad people in the world?

Translit: Waqaloo ma lana la nara rijalan kunna naAAudduhum mina alashrari

The Lord said, "O Iblis, what has prevented you from prostrating yourself before him whom I have made with both My hands? Are you assuming arrogance, or are you one of the high ones?"

Translit: Qala ya ibleesu ma manaAAaka an tasjuda lima khalaqtu biyadayya astakbarta am kunta mina alAAaleena

Translation:

Beware! Religion is exclusively Allah's right. As for those who have taken other guardians besides Him (and justify their conduct, saying): "We worship them only that they may bring us closer to Allah." Allah will surely judge between them concerning all that in which they differ. Allah does not show guidance to any liar and denier of the truth.

Translit: Ala lillahi alddeenu alkhalisu waallatheena ittakhathoo min doonihi awliyaa ma naAAbuduhum illa liyuqarriboona ila Allahi zulfa inna Allaha yahkumu baynahum fee ma hum feehi yakhtalifoona inna Allaha la yahdee man huwa kathibun kaffarun

It is He Who created you from a single being, then from that being He created its mate, and it is He Who created for you eight heads of cattle, male and female. He shapes you in your mothers' wombs, giving you one form after the other, under three dark veils. This same Allah (Whose works are these) is your Lord Sovereignty is His. There is no god but He. Whence are you, then, being turned away?

Translit: Khalaqakum min nafsin wahidatin thumma jaAAala minha zawjaha waanzala lakum mina alanAAami thamaniyata azwajin yakhluqukum fee butooni ommahatikum khalqan min baAAdi khalqin fee thulumatin thalathin thalikumu Allahu rabbukum lahu almulku la ilaha illa huwa faanna tusrafoona

(Whose conduct is better, this man or the man) who is obedient, who passes the hours of night standing and prostrating (in worship), and who dreads the Hereafter and hopes for the mercy of his Lord? Ask them, "Can those who know and those who do not know ever be equal?" Only men of understanding do accept the admonition.

Translit: Amman huwa qanitun anaa allayli sajidan waqaiman yahtharu alakhirata wayarjoo rahmata rabbihi qul hal yastawee allatheena yaAAlamoona waallatheena la yaAAlamoona innama yatathakkaru oloo alalbabi

We have cited for the people in this Qur'an every kind of parable, so that they may take heed.

Translit: Walaqad darabna lilnnasi fee hatha alqurani min kulli mathalin laAAallahum yatathakkaroona

(O Prophet:) We have sent down to you for all mankind this Book with the truth. Now whosoever adopts the right way, will do so for his own sake, and whosoever goes astray, will himself bear the burden of his deviation: you are not responsible for them.

Translit: Inna anzalna AAalayka alkitaba lilnnasi bialhaqqi famani ihtada falinafsihi waman dalla fainnama yadillu AAalayha wama anta AAalayhim biwakeelin

Then, when he brought them the truth from Ourself, they said, "Kill the sons of those who have believed and joined him and spare their daughters." But the disbelievers plot ended in vain.

Translit: Falamma jaahum bialhaqqi min AAindina qaloo oqtuloo abnaa allatheena amanoo maAAahu waistahyoo nisaahum wama kaydu alkafireena illa fee dalalin

It is Allah Who made the earth a resting-place for you and the sky a canopy over it, Who shaped you, and shaped you so well, and Who provided you with pure things. The same Allah (Who did all this) is your Lord. Highly blessed is Allah, Lord of the Universe.

Translit: Allahu allathee jaAAala lakumu alarda qararan waalssamaa binaan wasawwarakum faahsana suwarakum warazaqakum mina alttayyibati thalikumu Allahu rabbukum fatabaraka Allahu rabbu alAAalameena

So, be patient, O Prophet, Allah's promise is true. Whether We let you witness a part of the evil consequences with which We are threatening them, or recall you from the world (before this), they have to return to Us.

Translit: Faisbir inna waAAda Allahi haqqun faimma nuriyannaka baAAda allathee naAAiduhum aw natawaffayannaka failayna yurjaAAoona

When they saw Our scourge, they cried out, "We now believe in Allah, the One, and we reject all those gods whom we used to associate with Him."

We had set upon them companions who made everything, in front of them and behind them, seem fair to them. At last, the sane Decree of punishment proved true against them, which had proved true against the jinn and the men who had gone before them. Certainly they were the losers.

Translit: Waqayyadna lahum quranaa fazayyanoo lahum ma bayna aydeehim wama khalfahum wahaqqa AAalayhimu alqawlu fee omamin qad khalat min qablihim mina aljinni waalinsi innahum kanoo khasireena

When We bless man, he turns away and grows stiff necked; but when an evil touches him, he comes with lengthy supplications.

He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth, Who made for you pairs from your own kind, and pairs also of the cattle (from their own kind) so as to multiply you. There is nothing like Him in the universe. He hears everything and sees everything.

I turn to You in penitence and I am of those who have surrendered to You (as Muslims). "

Allah shall admit those who have believed and done good works into Gardens underneath which rivers flow. As for the disbelievers, they are only enjoying the temporary life of this world, and eating as the animals eat, and their final abode is Hell.

O mankind, We created you from one man and one woman, and then divided you into nations and tribes so that you may recognize one another. Indeed, the most honorable among you in the sight of Allah is he who is the most pious of you. Surely, Allah is All-knowing, All-Wise.

You will never find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day loving those who have opposed Allah and His Messenger, even though they be their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kinsfolk. They are those in whose hearts Allah has inscribed faith and has strengthened them with a spirit from Himself. He will admit them to such Gardens underneath which rivers will be flowing, to dwell there in for ever. Allah is well pleased with them and they with Allah. They are of Allah's party. Know it well that those of Allah's party alone are truly successful!
