Translation:

Whenever it is said to them, "Spread not disorder on the earth", their reply is, "We only seek to put things aright".

Translit: Waitha qeela lahum la tufsidoo fee alardi qaloo innama nahnu muslihoona

And when it is said to them, "Believe sincerely as the other people have believed", they reply, "Should we believe as fools have believed? Beware! they themselves are the fools, but they know it not.

Translit: "Waitha qeela lahum aminoo kama amana alnnasu qaloo anuminu kama amana alssufahao ala innahum humu alssufahao walakin la yaAAlamoona

Translation:

When they meet those who believe, they say, "We, too, are believers", but when they privily meet their evil geniuses, they say, "Indeed we are with you: we are only mocking at these people".

Translit: Waitha laqoo allatheena amanoo qaloo amanna waitha khalaw ila shayateenihim qaloo inna maAAakum innama nahnu mustahzioona

Translation:

And give good news (O Muhammad), to those who believe in this Book and do good deeds (in accordance with its teachings). For them there will be gardens underneath which canals flow. Their fruits will so resemble the fruits on the Earth that every time they will be provided with fruits, they will say, "Such fruits were provided to us before on the Earth. " And there will be pure spouses for them and therein they will live for ever.

Translit: Wabashshiri allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati anna lahum jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu kullama ruziqoo minha min thamaratin rizqan qaloo hatha allathee ruziqna min qablu waotoo bihi mutashabihan walahum feeha azwajun mutahharatun wahum feeha khalidoona

Translation:

Then call to mind the other event: when Moses said to his people, "Allah commands you to sacrifice a cow," they replied, "Do you mean to have a jest with us?" He answered, "I crave Allahs protection from behaving like ignorant people."

Translit: Waith qala moosa liqawmihi inna Allaha yamurukum an tathbahoo baqaratan qaloo atattakhithuna huzuwan qala aAAoothu biAllahi an akoona mina aljahileena

Translation:

Moses answered, "Allah says that she should be a cow which has not been yoked nor has ploughed the land nor watered the fields; which is sound and whole, without belemish. " Then they cried out, "Now you have given an accurate description. " Then they sacrificed her but they did not appear to be doing this willingly.

Translit: Qala innahu yaqoolu innaha baqaratun la thaloolun tutheeru alarda wala tasqee alhartha musallamatun la shiyata feeha qaloo alana jita bialhaqqi fathabahooha wama kadoo yafAAaloona

Translation:

O Muslims, do you then expect that these people will accept your invitation and become believers? whereas there have always been among them some who have been hearing the Word of God, understanding it well and then perverting and tampering with it knowingly.

Translit: AfatatmaAAoona an yuminoo lakum waqad kana fareequn minhum yasmaAAoona kalama Allahi thumma yuharrifoonahu min baAAdi ma AAaqaloohu wahum yaAAlamoona

Translation:

When they meet those who believe in Muhammad, they say, "We also believe in him." But when they meet one another in private, they say, "Have you got no sense that you disclose to them those things which Allah has revealed to you so that they might bring them as a proof against you before your Lord?

Translit: wa itha laqoo allatheena amanoo qaloo amanna wa itha khala baAAduhum ila baAAdin qaloo atuhaddithoonahum bima fataha Allahu AAalaykum liyuhajjookum bihi AAinda rabbikum afala taAAqiloona

Translation:

They also say, "The fire of Hell is not going to touch us, and even if it does at all, it will be only for a few days". Say, "Have you obtained a promise from Allah which He would not break? Or, do you attribute to Allah things you do not know?

Translit: Waqaloo lan tamassana alnnaru illa ayyaman maAAdoodatan qul attakhathtum AAinda Allahi AAahdan falan yukhlifa Allahu AAahdahu am taqooloona AAala Allahi ma la taAAlamoona

They say, "Our hearts are secure." Nay, the fact is that Allah has cursed them for their disbelief; so they are little disposed to believe.

Translit: Waqaloo quloobuna ghulfun bal laAAanahumu Allahu bikufrihim faqaleelan ma yuminoona

Translation:

When it is said to them, "Believe in that which Allah has sent down," they say, "We believe only in that which has been sent to us", and reject everything else, though it is the Truth and confirms what is with them. Well, ask them, "If you sincerely believed in what was sent down to you, why did you kill the Messengers of Allah (who were sent to you from amongst yourselves)?

Translit: Waitha qeela lahum aminoo bima anzala Allahu qaloo numinu bima onzila AAalayna wayakfuroona bima waraahu wahuwa alhaqqu musaddiqan lima maAAahum qul falima taqtuloona anbiyaa Allahi min qablu in kuntum mumineena

Translation:

Recall also to mind the Covenant We made with you while We raised the Tur over you: `Follow strictly the precepts We are giving you and give ear to Our Commandments. Your forefathers replied, "We have heard but we will not obey." They were so prone to unbelief that they cherished the calf in their hearts. Tell them (O Muhammad). "If indeed you are believers, yours is a strange Faith that enjoins you to do such evil things."

Translit: Waith akhathna meethaqakum warafaAAna fawqakumu alttoora khuthoo ma ataynakum biquwwatin waismaAAoo qaloo samiAAna waAAasayna waoshriboo fee quloobihimu alAAijla bikufrihim qul bisama yamurukum bihi eemanukum in kuntum mumineena

Translation:

They say, "None shall enter Paradise unless he be a Jew or according to the Christians) a Christian." These are their wishful fancies. Say to them, "Bring your proof, if you are right in your claim."

Translit: Waqaloo lan yadkhula aljannata illa man kana hoodan aw nasara tilka amaniyyuhum qul hatoo burhanakum in kuntum sadiqeena

Translation:

They say "Allah has adopted a son." Allah is above such things. As a matter of fact, whatever is in the heavens and on the earth belongs to Him and all are obedient to Him.

Translit: Waqaloo itakhatha Allahu waladan subhanahu bal lahu ma fee alssamawati waalardi kullun lahu qanitoona

Translation:

Were you present at the time when Jacob was on the point of death? He asked his children, "Whom will you worship after me?" They all answered, "We will worship the same One Allah Whom you, your forefathers Abraham. Ismail and Isaac acknowledged as their Allah and to Him we all surrender as Muslims."

Translit: Am kuntum shuhadaa ith hadara yaAAqooba almawtu ith qala libaneehi ma taAAbudoona min baAAdee qaloo naAAbudu ilahaka wailaha abaika ibraheema waismaAAeela waishaqa ilahan wahidan wanahnu lahu muslimoona

The Jews say, "Become Jews and you will be rightly guided" ;the Christians say, "Become Christians and you will have the true guidance." Say to them, "Nay, we turn away from every other way and accept the way of Abraham, and Abraham did not associate other gods with Allah."

when a misfortune comes to them, they say, "We are Allahs and we shall certainly return to Him,

Translation:

When it is said to them, "Follow the Commands that Allah has sent down," they reply, "We will follow only what we found our forefathers practising. Well, will they go on following their forefathers even though they did not use common sense and did not find the right way?

Translit: Waitha qeela lahumu ittabiAAoo ma anzala Allahu qaloo bal nattabiAAu ma alfayna AAalayhi abaana awalaw kana abaohum la yaAAqiloona shayan wala yahtadoona

Translation:

Have you also reflected upon the matter concerning the chiefs of the Israelites after (the death of) Moses? They said to their Prophet, "Appoint a king for us so that we may fight in the way of Allah." The Prophet asked them, "Might it be that you will not fight, if fighting is prescribed for you?" They replied, "How can it be that we would refuse to fight in the way of Allah when we have been turned out of our homes and separated from our children?" But (in spite of this assurance) when they were enjoined to fight, they all, except a few of them, turned their backs. And Allah knows each and everyone of these transgressors.

Translit: Alam tara ila almalai min banee israeela min baAAdi moosa ith qaloo linabiyyin lahumu ibAAath lana malikan nuqatil fee sabeeli Allahi qala hal AAasaytum in kutiba AAalaykumu alqitalu alla tuqatiloo qaloo wama lana alla nuqatila fee sabeeli Allahi waqad okhrijna min diyarina waabnaina falamma kutiba AAalayhimu alqitalu tawallaw illa qaleelan minhum waAllahu AAaleemun bialththalimeena

Translation:

Their Prophet said to them, "Allah has appointed Saul to be king over you." Hearing this, they replied, "How has he been entitled to become king over us? We have a better right to kingship than he, for he does not even possess enough riches." The Prophet replied, "Allah has preferred him to you and blessed him with abundant powers of mind and body. And Allah has the power to give His kingdom to whomever He wills: Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing."

Translit: Waqala lahum nabiyyuhum inna Allaha qad baAAatha lakum taloota malikan qaloo anna yakoonu lahu almulku AAalayna wanahnu ahaqqu bialmulki minhu walam yuta saAAatan mina almali qala inna Allaha istafahu AAalaykum wazadahu bastatan fee alAAilmi waaljismi waAllahu yutee mulkahu man yashao waAllahu wasiAAun AAaleemun

Translation:

And when Saul marched out with his army, he warned: "Allah is going to put you to a test by the side of a river: whoso drinks of its water shall cease to be my companion: he alone shall be~my companion who does not quench his thirst with its water: one may, however, take except a few, drank their fill of it. Afterwards when Saul, and those who had believed with him, crossed the river and advanced forward, the former said to Saul, "We have no power left this day to fight against Goliath and his hosts." But those who believed that one Day they shall meet Allah, declared, "lt has often been that a small host has, by Allahs grace, overcome a big host: for Allah is with those who show fortitude."

Translit: Falamma fasala talootu bialjunoodi qala inna Allaha mubtaleekum binaharin faman shariba minhu falaysa minnee waman lam yatAAamhu fainnahu minnee illa mani ightarafa ghurfatan biyadihi fashariboo minhu illa qaleelan minhum falamma jawazahu huwa waallatheena amanoo maAAahu qaloo la taqata lana alyawma bijaloota wajunoodihi qala allatheena yathunnoona annahum mulaqoo Allahi kam min fiatin qaleelatin ghalabat fiatan katheeratan biithni Allahi waAllahu maAAa alssabireena

Translation:

Accordingly, when they marched forward to fight with Goliath and his hosts, they prayed, "Our Lord, bless us with fortitude, make firm our foothold and give us victory over the unbelieving host."

Translit: Walamma barazoo lijaloota wajunoodihi qaloo rabbana afrigh AAalayna sabran wathabbit aqdamana waonsurna AAala alqawmi alkafireena

Translation:

But those who devour interest become like the one whom Satan has bewitched and maddened by his touch. They have been condemned to this condition because they say, "Trade is just like interestâ€, whereas Allah has made trade lawful and interest unlawfu1. Henceforth, if one abstains from taking interest after receiving this admonition from his Lord, no legal action will be taken against him regarding the interest he had devoured before; his case shall ultimately go to Allah. But if one repeats the same crime after this, . he shall go to Hell, where he shall abide for ever.

Translit: Allatheena yakuloona alrriba la yaqoomoona illa kama yaqoomu allathee yatakhabbatuhu alshshaytanu mina almassi thalika biannahum qaloo innama albayAAu mithlu alrriba waahalla Allahu albayAAa waharrama alrriba faman jaahu mawAAithatun min rabbihi faintaha falahu ma salafa waamruhu ila Allahi waman AAada faolaika ashabu alnnari hum feeha khalidoona

Translation:

The Messenger has believed in the Guidance which has been sent down to him from his Lord, and those who believe in the Messenger have also sincerely accepted the same. They all believe in Allah, His Angels, His Books and Messengers. And they say, "We do not discriminate against any of His Messengers. We have heard the Message and submitted to it. Our Lord, we look up to You for forgiveness, for to You we shall all return."

Translit: Amana alrrasoolu bima onzila ilayhi min rabbihi waalmuminoona kullun amana biAllahi wamalaikatihi wakutubihi warusulihi la nufarriqu bayna ahadin min rusulihi waqaloo samiAAna waataAAna ghufranaka rabbana wailayka almaseeru

Translation:

They do this because they say, "The fire of Hell is not going to touch us and even if it does at all, it will be only for a few days." Such self invented beliefs have involved them in various kinds of misunderstandings about their religion.

Translit: Thalika biannahum qaloo lan tamassana alnnaru illa ayyaman maAAdoodatin wagharrahum fee deenihim ma kanoo yaftaroona

Translation:

There is among the people of the Book such a person who will return to you intact a heap of gold entrusted to him by you. But there is among them also such a one who will not return even a single dinar entrusted to him by you unless you demand it with importunity. They justify their immoral behaviour, saying, "We are not to be called to account for our behaviour towards the unlettered (gentiles)." Obviously, this is a falsehood of their own which they deliberately ascribe to Allah, knowing well that He has never permitted such a thing. Well, will they not be called to account?

Translit: Wamin ahli alkitabi man in tamanhu biqintarin yuaddihi ilayka waminhum man in tamanhu bideenarin la yuaddihi ilayka illa ma dumta AAalayhi qaiman thalika biannahum qaloo laysa AAalayna fee alommiyyeena sabeelun wayaqooloona AAala Allahi alkathiba wahum yaAAlamoona

Translation:

Remember, Allah made this Covenant with His Messengers: "Now that We have given you the Book and Wisdom, you are hereby bound to believe in and help a Messenger, who comes to you afterwards, confirming the teachings you already possess." After this, He asked, "Do you confirm this and take up the heavy responsibility of your Covenant with Me?" They said, "Yes, we confirm." Then Allah said, "Very well, bear witness to this and I also bear witness with you.

Translit: Waith akhatha Allahu meethaqa alnnabiyyeena lama ataytukum min kitabin wahikmatin thumma jaakum rasoolun musaddiqun lima maAAakum latuminunna bihi walatansurunnahu qala aaqrartum waakhathtum AAala thalikum isree qaloo aqrarna qala faishhadoo waana maAAakum mina alshshahideena

Translation:

As for you, you love them but they do not love you, even though you believe in all the revealed Books. When they meet you, they say, "We also believe (in. your Prophet and in your Book"), but when they go aside, they bite their finger-tips in their rage against you.- Say to them, "Perish in your rage: Allah knows even that which is hidden in the hearts."

Translit: Haantum olai tuhibboonahum wala yuhibboonakum watuminoona bialkitabi kullihi waitha laqookum qaloo amanna waitha khalaw AAaddoo AAalaykumu alanamila mina alghaythi qul mootoo bighaythikum inna Allaha AAaleemun bithati alssudoori

Their only prayer was: "Our Lord, forgive our errors and shortcomings; pardon us the excesses we have committed in our affairs; make our footings secure and hold us firm against the disbelievers. "

Translit: Wama kana qawlahum illa an qaloo rabbana ighfir lana thunoobana waisrafana fee amrina wathabbit aqdamana waonsurna AAala alqawmi alkafireena

Translation:

O Believers, do not behave like disbelievers: when their brethren are on a journey or take part in a battle, (and ever meet with some accident) they say, "Had they stayed with us, they would not have died nor would have been slain." Allah makes such things a cause of grief and anguish in their hearts: for in fact, it is Allah who ordains both life and death; Allah is watching all that you do.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la takoonoo kaallatheena kafaroo waqaloo liikhwanihim itha daraboo fee alardi aw kanoo ghuzzan law kanoo AAindana ma matoo wama qutiloo liyajAAala Allahu thalika hasratan fee quloobihim waAllahu yuhyee wayumeetu waAllahu bima taAAmaloona baseerun

Translation:

When these hypocrites were told to come and fight in the way of Allah or at least in the defence (of their city), they said, "Had we known that the fighting would take place today, we would have certainly gone out with you." At the time they were uttering these words, they were nearer to unbelief than to faith, for they utter with their tongues what is not in their hearts; but Allah knows well what they conceal in their hearts.

Translit: WaliyaAAlama allatheena nafaqoo waqeela lahum taAAalaw qatiloo fee sabeeli Allahi awi idfaAAoo qaloo law naAAlamu qitalan laittabaAAnakum hum lilkufri yawmaithin aqrabu minhum lileemani yaqooloona biafwahihim ma laysa fee quloobihim waAllahu aAAlamu bima yaktumoona

Translation:

These are the very people who, while they themselves stayed at home, said of their brethren, who had gone to the battle and had been slain, "If they had obeyed us, they would not have been slain." Tell them, "If you really believe in what you say, you should turn away your own death, when it comes to you."

Translit: Allatheena qaloo liikhwanihim waqaAAadoo law ataAAoona ma qutiloo qul faidraoo AAan anfusikumu almawta in kuntum sadiqeena

who, when the people said to them, "Big armies have gathered against you: so fear them," became more firm in their Faith, and answered, "Allah is all sufficient for us, for He is the best Protector."

Translit: Allatheena qala lahumu alnnasu inna alnnasa qad jamaAAoo lakum faikhshawhum fazadahum eemanan waqaloo hasbuna Allahu waniAAma alwakeelu

Translation:

Allah has heard the saying of those who said; "Allah is poor and we are rich." We will record this (in their Conduct Book) along with their previous record of unjust killing of their Prophets. And (on the Day of Judgment), We will say to them, "Now taste the torment of the burning Fire.

Translit: Laqad samiAAa Allahu qawla allatheena qaloo inna Allaha faqeerun wanahnu aghniyaon sanaktubu ma qaloo waqatlahumu alanbiyaa bighayri haqqin wanaqoolu thooqoo AAathaba alhareeqi

Translation:

There are those who say "Allah has enjoined us that we should not accept anyone as a Messenger unless he offers, in our presence, a sacrifice which fire from heaven should devour." Say to them, "Many Messengers came to you before me with clear Signs, and they brought also the Sign you speak of: if you are sincere (in your demand), why did you kill those Messengers?"

Translit: Allatheena qaloo inna Allaha AAahida ilayna alla numina lirasoolin hatta yatiyana biqurbanin takuluhu alnnaru qul qad jaakum rusulun min qablee bialbayyinati wabiallathee qultum falima qataltumoohum in kutum sadiqeena

Translation:

Some of those, who have become Jews, pervert words out of their context and twist their tongues in order to malign the true Faith and say "sami ina wa asaina " and "Isma ghaira musma in and Ra ina. But, if they had said instead, "sami ina wa ata "ana, " "Isma " and " Unzurna," it would have been better for themselves and a more upright way. As Allah has cursed them for their disbelief, they are little disposed to believe.

Translit: Mina allatheena hadoo yuharrifoona alkalima AAan mawadiAAihi wayaqooloona samiAAna waAAasayna waismaAA ghayra musmaAAin waraAAina layyan bialsinatihim wataAAnan fee alddeeni walaw annahum qaloo samiAAna waataAAna waismaAA waonthurna lakana khayran lahum waaqwama walakin laAAanahumu Allahu bikufrihim fala yuminoona illa qaleelan

Translation:

Have you also marked those to whom it was said, "Withhold your hands (a while from war) and establish the Salat and pay the Zakat.? Now that they have been commanded to fight, some of them fear the people as they should fear Allah, or even more than that; they say, `Our Lord, why have You prescribed fighting for us? Why have You not given us further respite?" Say to them, "The pleasures of this worldly life are trifling and the life of the Hereafter is much better for a man who fears Allah, and you shall not be wronged in the least.

Translit: Alam tara ila allatheena qeela lahum kuffoo aydiyakum waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata falamma kutiba AAalayhimu alqitalu itha fareequn minhum yakhshawna alnnasa kakhashyati Allahi aw ashadda khashyatan waqaloo rabbana lima katabta AAalayna alqitala lawla akhkhartana ila ajalin qareebin qul mataAAu alddunya qaleelun waalakhiratu khayrun limani ittaqa wala tuthlamoona fateelan

Translation:

The hypocrites are watching you closely to see how the wind blows. If victory comes to you from Allah, they will say to you, "Were we not with you?" And if the disbelievers gain the upper hand, they will say to them, "Were we not strong enough to fight against you? Yet we defended you from the Muslims. Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection, Allah will judge between you and them, and (in this judgment) Allah has left no way for the disbelievers to overcome the Believers.

Translit: Allatheena yatarabbasoona bikum fain kana lakum fathun mina Allahi qaloo alam nakun maAAakum wain kana lilkafireena naseebun qaloo alam nastahwith AAalaykum wanamnaAAkum mina almumineena faAllahu yahkumu baynakum yawma alqiyamati walan yajAAala Allahu lilkafireena AAala almumineena sabeelan

Translation:

If the people of the Book are today asking you to cause a Book to come down upon them from heaven, they have already made even more monstrous demands from Moses. They said to him, "Make us see Allah with our own eyes." As a result of their wickedness, a thunder-bolt smote them all of a sudden. Then they took the calf as the object of their worship, after they had seen clear signs: but even after this, We forgave them. We bestowed upon Moses a clear Commandment

Translit: Yasaluka ahlu alkitabi an tunazzila AAalayhim kitaban mina alssamai faqad saaloo moosa akbara min thalika faqaloo arina Allaha jahratan faakhathathumu alssaAAiqatu bithulmihim thumma ittakhathoo alAAijla min baAAdi ma jaathumu albayyinatu faAAafawna AAan thalika waatayna moosa sultanan mubeenan

Translation:

Likewise We bound by a covenant those people, who said,"We are Nasara."36 But they too, forgot much of what had been taught to them. So We sowed among them seeds of discord, enmity and hatred that shall last up to the Day of Resurrection, and surely the time will come when Allah will tell them of what they had been contriving in the world.

Translit: Wamina allatheena qaloo inna nasara akhathna meethaqahum fanasoo haththan mimma thukkiroo bihi faaghrayna baynahumu alAAadawata waalbaghdaa ila yawmi alqiyamati wasawfa yunabbiohumu Allahu bima kanoo yasnaAAoona

Indeed they committed blasphemy, who said, "The Messiah, son of Mary, is verily God."O Muhammad, say to them, "If Allah chose to destroy the Messiah, Marys son, and his mother, and all the dwellers of the earth, who has the power to prevent Him from this? For, to Allah belongs the Kingdom of the earth and the heavens and all that is between them: He creates whatever He wills and has power over everything."

Translit: Laqad kafara allatheena qaloo inna Allaha huwa almaseehu ibnu maryama qul faman yamliku mina Allahi shayan in arada an yuhlika almaseeha ibna maryama waommahu waman fee alardi jameeAAan walillahi mulku alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma yakhluqu ma yashao waAllahu AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

Translation:

O Messenger, let not those who are striving hard in the way of disbelief, grieve you, whether they be from among those who say with their mouths, "We believe," but their hearts do not believe, or from among those who have become Jews; for the latter eagerly listen to lies. They spy for other people who have never had any chance of coming to you: they twist the words of Allahs Book out of their context in order to distort their proper meaning: they say to the people, "If you are enjoined to observe such and such teaching, accept it; if it is other than this, reject it." You can do nothing to save from Allahs punishment a man whom Allah wills to put to trial. They are those, whose hearts Allah does not will to purify; there is ignominy for them in this world and a grievous punishment in the Hereafter.

Translation:

When they come to you, they say, "We have believed," but in fact they had come in a state of un-belief and departed with disbelief; Allah knows full well what they were concealing in their hearts.

Translit: Waitha jaookum qaloo amanna waqad dakhaloo bialkufri wahum qad kharajoo bihi waAllahu aAAlamu bima kanoo yaktumoona

Translation:

The Jews say that the hands of Allah are chained Nay chained indeed are their own hands and accursed they have become because of the blasphemy they utter Allahs hands are free and He expends in whatever way He wills. The fact is that the Message which has been sent down to you from your Lord has rather increased the rebellion and disbelief of many of them: (as a consequence of this) We have cast between them enmity and hatred till the Day of Resurrection. Whenever they kindle the fire of war, Allah extinguishes it; now they are striving to spread mischief in the world but Allah does not like the mischief makers.

Translit: Waqalati alyahoodu yadu Allahi maghloolatun ghullat aydeehim waluAAinoo bima qaloo bal yadahu mabsootatani yunfiqu kayfa yashao walayazeedanna katheeran minhum ma onzila ilayka min rabbika tughyanan wakufran waalqayna baynahumu alAAadawata waalbaghdaa ila yawmi alqiyamati kullama awqadoo naran lilharbi atfaaha Allahu wayasAAawna fee alardi fasadan waAllahu la yuhibbu almufsideena

Translation:

Most certainly they committed blasphemy, who said, "Allah, He is indeed the Messiah, Marys son"; whereas the Messiah had said, "O children of Israel, `worship Allah alone, Who is my Lord and your Lord as well" Whoever joins a partner with Allah, Allah shall forbid him the Garden, and Hell shall be his abode: and such workers of iniquity shall have no helpers.

Translit: Laqad kafara allatheena qaloo inna Allaha huwa almaseehu ibnu maryama waqala almaseehu ya banee israeela oAAbudoo Allaha rabbee warabbakum innahu man yushrik biAllahi faqad harrama Allahu AAalayhi aljannata wamawahu alnnaru wama lilththalimeena min ansarin

Most certainly they committed blasphemy, who said, "God is one of the three": whereas there is no deity other than the One Deity. And if these people do not desist from uttering such words, a painful chastisement shall be inflicted on all those from among them who have been guilty of blasphemy.

Translit: Laqad kafara allatheena qaloo inna Allaha thalithu thalathatin wama min ilahin illa ilahun wahidun wain lam yantahoo AAamma yaqooloona layamassanna allatheena kafaroo minhum AAathabun aleemun

You will find that the most hostile of all people in their enmity to the Believers are the Jews and the mushriks; and you will find that the nearest in friendliness to the Believers are those, who say, "We are Christians. " This Is because there are among them some pious scholars and monks and because they are free from pride.

Translit: Latajidanna ashadda alnnasi AAadawatan lillatheena amanoo alyahooda waallatheena ashrakoo walatajidanna aqrabahum mawaddatan lillatheena amanoo allatheena qaloo inna nasara thalika bianna minhum qisseeseena waruhbanan waannahum la yastakbiroona

Translation:

And, for these words of theirs, Allah rewarded them with the Gardens underneath which canals flow, wherein they will live for ever. This is the reward of the righteous people.

Translit: Faathabahumu Allahu bima qaloo jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha wathalika jazao almuhsineena

Translation:

And when it is said to them, "Come to the Law which Allah has sent down and to the Messenger," they reply, "Sufficient for us is the way on which we found our forefathers. What! will they go on following their forefathers, even if they knew nothing, and were quite ignorant of the Right Way?

Translit: Waitha qeela lahum taAAalaw ila ma anzala Allahu waila alrrasooli qaloo hasbuna ma wajadna AAalayhi abaana awalaw kana abaohum la yaAAlamoona shayan wala yahtadoona

On the Day,-- when Allah will assemble all the Messengers, He will ask, "What was the response you received?" They will answer, "We have no knowledge: You alone have the full knowledge of all that is hidden."

and remember also that I inspired the Disciples to believe in Me and My Messenger; then they said, `We have believed and bear witness that we are Muslims."

And they say, "Why has no angel been sent down to him?" If We had sent down an angel, their fate would have been decided long before this and they would have been given no respite after this;

Then they shall not be able to play any other trick (than make this false statement): "We swear by You, our Lord, we were not at all mushrikin."

Would that you could see their condition at the time, when they will be made to stand before Hell! They will say, "Would that we could somehow return to the earthly life again: then we would not deny the Signs of our Lord, and would join the Believers."

Translit: Walaw tara ith wuqifoo AAala alnnari faqaloo ya laytana nuraddu wala nukaththiba biayati rabbina wanakoona mina almumineena

Today they say, "There is no other life than this our worldly life, and we shall never be raised back to life after our death."

Translation:

Would that you could witness the scene, when they will be brought before their Lord: then their Lord will ask them, "Is this not the Reality?" They will say, "Yes, our Lord, this is the Reality." Then He will declare, "Well, taste the torment for denying this Reality."

Translit: Walaw tara ith wuqifoo AAala rabbihim qala alaysa hatha bialhaqqi qaloo bala warabbina qala fathooqoo alAAathaba bima kuntum takfuroona

Translation:

Losers indeed are those who consider it a lie that they will ever have a meeting with Allah. When the Hour overtakes them unawares, they will exclaim, "Alas! how negligent we have been of this matter!" and they will be carrying the burdens of their sins on their backs: behold, how heavy is the burden they are carrying!

Translit: Qad khasira allatheena kaththaboo biliqai Allahi hatta itha jaathumu alssaAAatu baghtatan qaloo ya hasratana AAala ma farratna feeha wahum yahmiloona awzarahum AAala thuhoorihim ala saa ma yaziroona

Translation:

These people ask, "Why has no Sign been sent down to this Prophet from his Lord?" Say, "Allah is able to send down a Sign, but most of these people do not understand the wisdom underlying it."

Translit: Waqaloo lawla nuzzila AAalayhi ayatun min rabbihi qul inna Allaha qadirun AAala an yunazzila ayatan walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona

Translation:

Those people formed quite a wrong estimate of Allah, when they said, "Allah has not sent down anything to any man." Ask them: "Then who sent down the Book, which Moses brought: which was Light and Guidance for mankind: which you have divided into fragments, a part of which you show to the people and most of it you hide from them: by which you were given that knowledge which neither you nor your forefathers possessed?" Just say, "Allah", and then leave them alone to play with their useless arguments.

Translit: Wama qadaroo Allaha haqqa qadrihi ith qaloo ma anzala Allahu AAala basharin min shayin qul man anzala alkitaba allathee jaa bihi moosa nooran wahudan lilnnasi tajAAaloonahu qarateesa tubdoonaha watukhfoona katheeran waAAullimtum ma lam taAAlamoo antum wala abaokum quli Allahu thumma tharhum fee khawdihim yalAAaboona

Translation:

When a Revelation comes before them, they say, "We will not believe in it unless we are given the like of what has been given to the Messengers of Allah." Allah knows best whom to entrust with His Mission and how to get it conducted. - Near is the time when these criminals shall meet with disgrace and a grievous torment from Allah for the evil schemes they were devising.

Translit: Waitha jaathum ayatun qaloo lan numina hatta nuta mithla ma ootiya rusulu Allahi Allahu aAAlamu haythu yajAAalu risalatahu sayuseebu allatheena ajramoo sagharun AAinda Allahi waAAathabun shadeedun bima kanoo yamkuroona

Translation:

(On that occasion Allah will ask them this question also:) "O race of jinn and men, did not the Messengers come to you from among yourselves, who recited My Revelations to you and warned you of the consequences you shall meet with on this Day?" They will reply, "Yes, they did. We bear witness against ourselves. "Today this worldly life has deluded them, but at that time, they will themselves bear witness against their selves that they were disbelievers.

Translit: Ya maAAshara aljinni waalinsi alam yatikum rusulun minkum yaqussoona AAalaykum ayatee wayunthiroonakum liqaa yawmikum hatha qaloo shahidna AAala anfusina wagharrathumu alhayatu alddunya washahidoo AAala anfusihim annahum kanoo kafireena

Translation:

These people have assigned a portion to Allah out of the tillage and the cattle He Himself has created, and say, "This is for Allah," so presume they "and this is for the partners we have set up with Him." Then the portion assigned to the partners of their own making does not reach Allah, but that assigned to Allah reaches the partners set up by them. What evil decisions they make!

Translit: WajaAAaloo lillahi mimma tharaa mina alharthi waalanAAami naseeban faqaloo hatha lillahi bizaAAmihim wahatha lishurakaina fama kana lishurakaihim fala yasilu ila Allahi wama kana lillahi fahuwa yasilu ila shurakaihim saa ma yahkumoona

Translation:

They say, these cattle and crops are reserved; only those people can eat them, whom we allow. In fact, this is a restriction they themselves have imposed. Then there are some animals which have been forbidden for riding and carrying loads, and there are other animals over which they do not pronounce the name of Allah. They have falsely attributed all this to Allah before long Allah will recompense them for all that they have falsely attributed to Him.

Translit: Waqaloo hathihi anAAamun waharthun hijrun la yatAAamuha illa man nashao bizaAAmihim waanAAamun hurrimat thuhooruha waanAAamun la yathkuroona isma Allahi AAalayha iftiraan AAalayhi sayajzeehim bima kanoo yaftaroona

And they say, "Whatever is within the bellies of these cattle is reserved for our males and forbidden to our females, but if it is dead, both may partake of it. Allah will surely recompense them for the things they have fabricated; indeed, He is All Wise, All Knowing.

Translit: Waqaloo ma fee butooni hathihi alanAAami khalisatun lithukoorina wamuharramun AAala azwajina wain yakun maytatan fahum feehi shurakao sayajzeehim wasfahum innahu hakeemun AAaleemun

When Our scourge overtook them, the only cry they could utter was "Indeed we were transgressors!"

Translit: Fama kana daAAwahum ith jaahum basuna illa an qaloo inna kunna thalimeena

Translation:

Whenever these people commit a shameful deed, they say. "We found our forefathers doing this, and Allah Himself has enjoined us to do this." Say to them, "Allah never enjoins a shameful thing. Do you attribute to Allahs name and say things which you know not to be from Him?"

Translit: Waitha faAAaloo fahishatan qaloo wajadna AAalayha abaana waAllahu amarana biha qul inna Allaha la yamuru bialfahshai ataqooloona AAala Allahi ma la taAAlamoona

Translation:

Then who can be more wicked than the one who invents falsehoods about Allah and then attributes these to Him or than the one who treats the true Revelations of Allah as false? Such people will go on receiving their destined shares till that hour comes when the angels, appointed by Us, will arrive to capture their souls. Then the angels will ask them, "Where are those now whom you worshiped instead of Allah ?" They will answer "All of them have forsaken us." And they will give evidence against themselves that they had indeed denied the truth.

Translit: Faman athlamu mimmani iftara AAala Allahi kathiban aw kaththaba biayatihi olaika yanaluhum naseebuhum mina alkitabi hatta itha jaathum rusuluna yatawaffawnahum qaloo ayna ma kuntum tadAAoona min dooni Allahi qaloo dalloo AAanna washahidoo AAala anfusihim annahum kanoo kafireena

Translation:

And We will remove whatever ill-feeling would have been in their hearts against one another; canals will be flowing underneath theta and they will say, "Praise be to Allah, Who has guided us to this Way: by ourselves we would not have been able to find the Way, if Allah had not guided us. The Messengers sent by our Lord had really come, with the Truth. " At that time a voice will be heard saying, "This is the Paradise, of which you have been made heirs; it has been given to you for the good works you did.

Translit: WanazaAAna ma fee sudoorihim min ghillin tajree min tahtihimu alanharu waqaloo alhamdu lillahi allathee hadana lihatha wama kunna linahtadiya lawla an hadana Allahu laqad jaat rusulu rabbina bialhaqqi wanoodoo an tilkumu aljannatu oorithtumooha bima kuntum taAAmaloona

Translation:

Then the inmates of Paradise will call out to the inmates of Hell, "We have found all the promises made to us by our Lord to be true: have you, too, found the promises trade to you by your Lord to be true?" They will say, "Yes". Then a herald in their midst will announce: "The curse of Allah be upon those evil-doers

Translit: Wanada ashabu aljannati ashaba alnnari an qad wajadna ma waAAadana rabbuna haqqan fahal wajadtum ma waAAada rabbukum haqqan qaloo naAAam faaththana muaththinun baynahum an laAAnatu Allahi AAala alththalimeena

And when their eyes will be turned towards the inmates of Hell, they will say, "O our Lord, do not include us in these wicked people."

Translit: Waitha surifat absaruhum tilqaa ashabi alnnari qaloo rabbana la tajAAalna maAAa alqawmi alththalimeena

Translation:

Then these people on `the Heights` will recognize by their characteristics some `big` personalities from among the inmates of Hell and will call out to them, "You have seen that today neither your followers have availed you anything nor your wealth and property, of which you were very proud.

Translit: Wanada ashabu alaAArafi rijalan yaAArifoonahum biseemahum qaloo ma aghna AAankum jamAAukum wama kuntum tastakbiroona

Translation:

And the inmates of Hell will cry out to the inmates of Paradise: "Pour upon us a little water or throw down a bit of the provisions Allah has bestowed upon you." They will reply, "Allah has forbidden both the things to the disbelievers,

Translit: Wanada ashabu alnari ashaba aljannati an afeedoo AAalayna mina almai aw mimma razaqakumu Allahu qaloo inna Allaha harramahuma AAala alkafireena

Translation:

The chiefs of his tribe, who were full of pride, said to those who had believed from among the oppressed people, "Do you know it for certain that Salih is a Messenger from his Lord?" They replied, "Indeed we believe in the Message with which he has been sent."

Translit: Qala almalao allatheena istakbaroo min qawmihi lillatheena istudAAifoo liman amana minhum ataAAlamoona anna salihan mursalun min rabbihi qaloo inna bima orsila bihi muminoona

Translation:

Then they killed the she-camel,61 and very insolently defied their Lords command, and challenged Salih, "Bring that scourge with which you threaten us, if you really are one of the Messengers."

But the only answer of his people was no other than to say, "Turn out these people of your habitations for they pose to be very pious."

Then We changed their adversity for good fortune till they became very prosperous and said, "Our forefathers also had their adversity and prosperity". At last We seized them all of a sudden when they were quite unaware.

Translit: Thumma baddalna makana alssayyiati alhasanata hatta AAafaw waqaloo qad massa abaana alddarrao waalssarrao faakhathnahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona

Accordingly, the magicians came to Pharaoh and said, "Shall we surely get great magic. Our reward, if we win ?"

Translit: Wajaa alssaharatu firAAawna qaloo inna lana laajran in kunna nahnu alghalibeena

Translation:

But they responded like this: whenever a good time came; they would say, "This is but our due" and when there was a hard time, they would ascribe their calamities to Moses and those with him. Whereas, in fact, their misfortune was in the hand of Allah; but most of them did not know this.

Translit: Faitha jaathumu alhasanatu qaloo lana hathihi wain tusibhum sayyiatun yattayyaroo bimoosa waman maAAahu ala innama tairuhum AAinda Allahi walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona

They said to Moses, "We are not going to believe in you, whatever Sign you may bring to enchant us."

Translit: Waqaloo mahma tatina bihi min ayatin litasharana biha fama nahnu laka bimumineena

Translation:

Whenever a plague befell them, they would say, "O Moses! Pray for us to Allah in the name of the office you hold from Him. If you help remove the plague from us this time, we will believe in you, and send the Israelites with you."

Translit: Walamma waqaAAa AAalayhimu alrrijzu qaloo ya moosa odAAu lana rabbaka bima AAahida AAindaka lain kashafta AAanna alrrijza lanuminanna laka walanursilanna maAAaka banee israeela

Translation:

We led the Israelites across the sea; then they started on their journey, and came upon a people who were zealously devoted to their idols. They said, "O Moses, make a god also for us like the gods these people have." Moses replied "Indeed, you are a people who are behaving very foolishly.

Translit: Wajawazna bibanee israeela albahra faataw AAala qawmin yaAAkufoona AAala asnamin lahum qaloo ya moosa ijAAal lana ilahan kama lahum alihatun qala innakum qawmun tajhaloona

Translation:

But when the enchantment of self delusion was broken and they realized that they had, in fact, gone astray, they said, "If our Lord does not have mercy on us and does not forgive us we shall be losers."

Translit: Walamma suqita fee aydeehim waraaw annahum qad dalloo qaloo lain lam yarhamna rabbuna wayaghfir lana lanakoonanna mina alkhasireena

Translation:

Also remind them that when some people from among them asked the others the answer that was given by some of them, "Why do you admonish those people whom Allah is about to destroy or punish severely?" they replied, "We admonish them in order to be able to offer an excuse before your Lord and we also hope that they might refrain from disobedience to Him."

Translit: Waith qalat ommatun minhum lima taAAithoona qawman Allahu muhlikuhum aw muAAaththibuhum AAathaban shadeedan qaloo maAAthiratan ila rabbikum walaAAallahum yattaqoona

Translation:

And, O Prophet, remind the people of the time, when your Lord brought forth from the loins of the Children of Adam, their descendants and made them bear witness about themselves. He asked them, "Am I not your Lord?" They replied, "Most certainly, Thou alone art our Lord; we bear witness to this. "This We did lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, "We were unaware of this thing,"

Translit: Waith akhatha rabbuka min banee adama min thuhoorihim thurriyyatahum waashhadahum AAala anfusihim alastu birabbikum qaloo bala shahidna an taqooloo yawma alqiyamati inna kunna AAan hatha ghafileena

Translation:

O Prophet, when you do not show them a Sign (miracle), they say, "Why have you not chosen a sign for yourself?" Tell them "I follow only the Revelation, which my Lord has sent down to me: this contains lights of insight from your Lord, and is guidance and mercy for those who believe in this.

Translit: Waitha lam tatihim biayatin qaloo lawla ijtabaytaha qul innama attabiAAu ma yooha ilayya min rabbee hatha basairu min rabbikum wahudan warahmatun liqawmin yuminoona

Do not be like those who said, "We have heard," but have not listened to it,

Translit: Wala takoonoo kaallatheena qaloo samiAAna wahum la yasmaAAoona

When Our revelations were recited to them, they said, "Well, we have heard: if we will, we also can fabricate such things: for these are the same ancient tales which have already been told again and again by the former people. "

Translit: Waitha tutla AAalayhim ayatuna qaloo qad samiAAna law nashao laqulna mithla hatha in hatha illa asateeru alawwaleena

And recall also to mind the thing they said, "If it is the Truth and has been sent down by Thee, rain down stones on us from the heavens or send down any other painful torment on us."

Translit: Waith qaloo allahumma in kana hatha huwa alhaqqa min AAindika faamtir AAalayna hijaratan mina alssamai awi itina biAAathabin aleemin

Translation:

Would that they were contents with what Allah and His Messenger had given them and would say, "Allah suffices us: He will provide for us in abundance out of His own bounty, and His Messenger will also be kindly disposed towards us. Indeed we look to Allah alone."

Translit: Walaw annahum radoo ma atahumu Allahu warasooluhu waqaloo hasbuna Allahu sayuteena Allahu min fadlihi warasooluhu inna ila Allahi raghiboona

Translation:

They swear by Allah that they did not say the thing, when in fact, they did utter the word of unbelief. Thus, they were guilty of unbelief after they had professed Islam: however, they could not accomplish what they had intended to do. They had no reason to be spiteful except that Allah and His Messenger had enriched them by His bounty. If even now they repent of their misbehavior, it will be good for their own selves, but if they do not repent, Allah will chastise them with a painful chastisement in this world and in the Hereafter, and there will be none on the earth to protect and help them.

Translit: Yahlifoona biAllahi ma qaloo walaqad qaloo kalimata alkufri wakafaroo baAAda islamihim wahammoo bima lam yanaloo wama naqamoo illa an aghnahumu Allahu warasooluhu min fadlihi fain yatooboo yaku khayran lahum wain yatawallaw yuAAaththibhumu Allahu AAathaban aleeman fee alddunya waalakhirati wama lahum fee alardi min waliyyin wala naseerin

Translation:

Those who were allowed to remain behind, were happy that they had not gone with Allahs Messenger, and had stayed at home, for they did not like to do Jihad in the Way of Allah with their possessions and their persons. They said to the people, "Do not go forth in this heat." Say to them, "The Fire of Hell is much hotter than this"; would that they understood this!

Translit: Fariha almukhallafoona bimaqAAadihim khilafa rasooli Allahi wakarihoo an yujahidoo biamwalihim waanfusihim fee sabeeli Allahi waqaloo la tanfiroo fee alharri qul naru jahannama ashaddu harran law kanoo yafqahoona

Whenever a Surah was sent down with the revelation, "Believe in Allah and go forth for Jihad with His Messenger" , you might have perceived that even the capable people from among them began to beg you to excuse them from Jihad. saying, "Please leave us behind with those who are to stay at home.

Translit: Waitha onzilat sooratun an aminoo biAllahi wajahidoo maAAa rasoolihi istathanaka oloo alttawli minhum waqaloo tharna nakun maAAa alqaAAideena

So when the Truth came to them from Us, they said, "This is clear sorcery.

Translit: Falamma jaahumu alhaqqu min AAindina qaloo inna hatha lasihrun mubeenun

They answered, "We have put our trust in Allah: `Our Lord, do not make us a cause of trial for the unjust people,

Translit: Faqaloo AAala Allahi tawakkalna rabbana la tajAAalna fitnatan lilqawmi alththalimeena

And lo, Our Messengers came to Abraham with good news. They said, "Peace be upon you." Abraham answered, "Peace be also upon you." And before long he brought a roasted calf for them.

Translit: Walaqad jaat rusuluna ibraheema bialbushra qaloo salaman qala salamun fama labitha an jaa biAAijlin haneethin

But when he saw that they did not stretch out their hands towards it, he had a mistrust about them and felt a fear of them in his heart. They said, "Dont have any fear: for we have been sent to the people of Lot."

Translit: Falamma raa aydiyahum la tasilu ilayhi nakirahum waawjasa minhum kheefatan qaloo la takhaf inna orsilna ila qawmi lootin

Translation:

This is how the story begins: his brothers (held a consultation and) said to one another, "This Joseph and his brother are dearer to our father than ourselves, even though we are a band. Truly our father seems to have lost his balance of mind.

When they opened their saddle-bags they found that their merchandise had also been returned to them. Seeing this, they cried with joy, "Dear father, look here! What more do we desire? Here is our merchandise returned to us. Therefore we will go back and bring provisions of food for our family; we will take good care of our brother and obtain an extra camel load of corn. Such an addition will be made easily."

Translit: Walamma fatahoo mataAAahum wajadoo bidaAAatahum ruddat ilayhim qaloo ya abana ma nabghee hathihi bidaAAatuna ruddat ilayna wanameeru ahlana wanahfathu akhana wanazdadu kayla baAAeerin thalika kaylun yaseerun

When they went back to Egypt and presented themselves before Joseph, they humbly. said, "Exalted sir! we and our family are in great distress: though we have been able to bring only goods of scant worth for barter, we request you to give us full measure of grain, and be charitable to us: for Allah rewards richly those who are charitable."

Translit: Falamma dakhaloo AAalayhi qaloo ya ayyuha alAAazeezu massana waahlana alddurru wajina bibidaAAatin muzjatin faawfi lana alkayla watasaddaq AAalayna inna Allaha yajzee almutasaddiqeena

Translation:

Has not the story reached you of those who have gone before you of the people of Noah and Ad and Thamud, and of those who came after them? Allah alone knows their number. When their Messengers came to them with plain teachings and manifest Signs, they thrust their hands into their mouths, saying, "We reject the Message with which you have been sent and we have a disquieting doubt about that thing to which you are inviting us."

Translit: Alam yatikum nabao allatheena min qablikum qawmi noohin waAAadin wathamooda waallatheena min baAAdihim la yaAAlamuhum illa Allahu jaathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati faraddoo aydiyahum fee afwahihim waqaloo inna kafarna bima orsiltum bihi wainna lafee shakkin mimma tadAAoonana ilayhi mureebun

Translation:

The Messengers said, "Do you have doubt about the existence of Allah. Who is the Creator of the heavens and the earth? He calls you that He may forgive you your sins and give you respite till your appointed term." They answered, "You are no more than human beings like ourselves. You intend to debar us from the worship of the deities whom our forefathers have been worshiping. Well, bring a clear Sign."

Translit: Qalat rusuluhum afee Allahi shakkun fatiri alssamawati waalardi yadAAookum liyaghfira lakum min thunoobikum wayuakhkhirakum ila ajalin musamman qaloo in antum illa basharun mithluna tureedoona an tasuddoona AAamma kana yaAAbudu abaona fatoona bisultanin mubeenin

And when those people shall all be exposed together before Allah, then those who were weak in this world will say to those who had posed as big ones."As we followed you in the world, can you now do anything to relieve us from the torment of Allah?" They will reply, "Had Allah guided us to the way of salvation, we would have certainly guided you to it. Now it is all the same whether we bewail it or bear it with patience: there is for us no way of escape."

Translit: Wabarazoo lillahi jameeAAan faqala aldduAAafao lillatheena istakbaroo inna kunna lakum tabaAAan fahal antum mughnoona AAanna min AAathabi Allahi min shayin qaloo law hadana Allahu lahadaynakum sawaon AAalayna ajaziAAna am sabarna ma lana min maheesin

They say, "You, upon whom the Divine word has been sent down, are surely insane.

they would have said. "Our eyes have been dazzled; nay, we have been bewitched."

When they came to him, they said, "Peace be to you". But he replied, "We are afraid of you."

Translation:

On the other hand, when the God-fearing people are asked, "What is it that has been sent by your Lord?" they say, "It is the best thing that has been sent down." There is good for those righteous people who do good works in this world, and far better is their abode in the Hereafter." Blessed indeed is the dwelling place for the pious people.

Translit: Waqeela lillatheena ittaqaw matha anzala rabbukum qaloo khayran lillatheena ahsanoo fee hathihi alddunya hasanatun waladaru alakhirati khayrun walaniAAma daru almuttaqeena

Translation:

When the people, who had committed shirk in this world, will see those whom they had made associates with Allah, they will say, "Our Lord! here are those associate-deities whom we used to invoke beside Thee". At this their deities will retort, "You are liars."

Translit: Waitha raa allatheena ashrakoo shurakaahum qaloo rabbana haolai shurakaona allatheena kunna nadAAoo min doonika faalqaw ilayhimu alqawla innakum lakathiboona

Translation:

And when We send down one verse to elaborate upon the other-and Allah knows best what to send down, they say, "You forge this Quran yourself." The fact is that most of them do not know the reality.

Translit: Waitha baddalna ayatan makana ayatin waAllahu aAAlamu bima yunazzilu qaloo innama anta muftarin bal aktharuhum la yaAAlamoona

They say, "What! shall we really be raised up again into a new creation, when we are reduced to bones and dust?"

and they said, "We will not believe in what you say until you cause a spring to gush forth from the earth for us,

Whenever Guidance came before the people nothing prevented them from believing in it except this (excuse): they said: "Did Allah send a human being as His Messenger?"

This is their recompense, for they rejected Our Signs and said, "What! shall we really be raised up anew, when we have been reduced to bones and dust?"

and that he should warn those people who say, "Allah has begotten a son.â€

When those few young men took refuge in the Cave, they said, "Our Lord! have a special mercy on us from Thyself and guide us out of our ordeal aright."

We strengthened their hearts, when they rose up, and they declared, "Our Lord is the One Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. We will not invoke any other deity than Him. It will be the most improper thing if we do so.â€

Translit: Warabatna AAala quloobihim ith qamoo faqaloo rabbuna rabbu alssamawati waalardi lan nadAAuwa min doonihi ilahan laqad qulna ithan shatatan

And in the same miraculous way We raised them up again so that they may ask one another (about their wonderful experience). One of them asked, "Well, how long have you remained in this condition?â€ The others answered, "May-be, we have remained so for a day or a part of a day.â€ Then they declared, "Your Lord knows best how long we have remained in this condition. So let us send one of us with this silver coin to the city, and he should look for a place wherein he can get the best food so that he may bring something to eat. He should, however, conduct himself with caution lest anyone should discover our whereabouts;

Translit: Wakathalika baAAathnahum liyatasaaloo baynahum qala qailun minhum kam labithtum qaloo labithna yawman aw baAAda yawmin qaloo rabbukum aAAlamu bima labithtum faibAAathoo ahadakum biwariqikum hathihi ila almadeenati falyanthur ayyuha azka taAAaman falyatikum birizqin minhu walyatalattaf wala yushAAiranna bikum ahadan

Translation:

In this way We revealed their secret to the people of the city so that they should know that Allah's promise is true and that there is no doubt about (the coming of) the Hour of Resurrection. (But it is a pity that instead of considering this aspect of the matter) they were at that time disputing among themselves with regard to them (the Sleepers of the Cave). Some of them said, "Let us build a wall against them, for then Lord alone knows best about themâ€ But those people who prevailed in their matter, said, "We will build a place of worship as a memorial for them"

Translit: Wakathalika aAAtharna AAalayhim liyaAAlamoo anna waAAda Allahi haqqun waanna alsaAAata la rayba feeha ith yatanazaAAoona baynahum amrahum faqaloo ibnoo AAalayhim bunyanan rabbuhum aAAlamu bihim qala allatheena ghalaboo AAala amrihim lanattakhithanna AAalayhim masjidan

Then she brought the child to her people. They said, â€œO Mary! This is a heinous sin that you have committed.

Translit: Faatat bihi qawmaha tahmiluhu qaloo ya maryamu laqad jiti shayan fariyyan

(In answer to this) Mary merely pointed towards the infant. The people said, â€œHow shall we talk with him, who is but an infant in the cradle?â€

Accordingly, at the end of the encounter, all the magicians were cast down to prostration and they cried out, "We believe in the Lord of Aaron and Moses."

and forged the shape of a calf which lowed like an ox. Then the people cried out, â€œThis is your god and the god of Moses. Moses has forgotten it."

They say, "Why does he not bring us a Sign from his Lord?" Has not a clear Sign come to them containing all the teachings of the former Scriptures?

Had We destroyed them with a scourge before its coming, these very people would have said, "Our Lord, why did you not send a Messenger to us so that we would have followed Your Revelations before we were humiliated and disgraced?"

Translit: Walaw anna ahlaknahum biAAathabin min qablihi laqaloo rabbana lawla arsalta ilayna rasoolan fanattabiAAa ayatika min qabli an nathilla wanakhza

Translation:

Then, they say, "It is a bundle of incoherent dreams: nay, he himself has invented it: nay, he is a poet; if not, let him bring a sign like the signs with which the former Prophets were sent."

Translit: Bal qaloo adghathu ahlamin bali iftarahu bal huwa shaAAirun falyatina biayatin kama orsila alawwaloona

They say, "The Merciful has offspring." Glory be to Allah!they are His mere servants who have been honored:

Translit: Waqaloo ittakhatha alrrahmanu waladan subhanahu bal AAibadun mukramoona

This turned them to (search) their own conscience, and they said (to themselves), "Surely you yourselves are in the wrong".

Translit: FarajaAAoo ila anfusihim faqaloo innakum antumu alththalimoona

They said, "What! should we believe in these two men who are human beings like ourselves and whose people are our bondsmen?"

Translit: Faqaloo anuminu libasharayni mithlina waqawmuhuma lana AAabidoona

Nay! these people say what their forefathers said before them.

Translit: Bal qaloo mithla ma qala alawwaloona

Translation:

When you heard of it, why didn't the Believing men and the Believing women have a good opinion of themselves, and why did they not say, "This is a manifest slander?"

Translit: Lawla ith samiAAtumoohu thanna almuminoona waalmuminatu bianfusihim khayran waqaloo hatha ifkun mubeenun

They say, "These things are the writings of the ancients which he has got copied down for himself, and then these are recited to him in the morning and evening.

Translit: Waqaloo asateeru alawwaleena iktatabaha fahiya tumla AAalayhi bukratan waaseelan

They say, "What sort of a Messenger is he that he eats food and moves about in the streets? Why has not an angel been sent down to accompany him and threaten (the disbelievers)?

Translit: Waqaloo mali hatha alrrasooli yakulu alttaAAama wayamshee fee alaswaqi lawla onzila ilayhi malakun fayakoona maAAahu natheeran

Translation:

When it is said to them. "Prostrate yourselves before the Merciful," they retort, "What is the Merciful? Would you have us prostrate ourselves before whomsoever you will?" And this invitation only helps to increase their hatred all the more.

Translit: Waitha qeela lahumu osjudoo lilrrahmani qaloo wama alrrahmanu anasjudu lima tamuruna wazadahum nufooran

The (true) servants of the Merciful are those who walk humbly on the earth who, when the ignorant people behave insolently towards them, say,"Peace to you"

When the magicians arrived for the contest, they said to Pharaoh, "Shall we have rewards if we win?"

They forthwith cast down their cords and staffs and said. "By Pharaoh' honor, we shall surely win"

But when Our clear Signs came before those people, they said, "This is plain magic."

Translit: Falamma jaathum ayatuna mubsiratan qaloo hatha sihrun mubeenun

But the only reply his people gave was to say, "Expel the family of Lot from your habitation: they pose to be very pious."

Translit: Fama kana jawaba qawmihi illa an qaloo akhrijoo ala lootin min qaryatikum innahum onasun yatatahharoona

Then, when Moses came to those people with Our clear Signs, they said"This is nothing but false magic, and we have never heard of such things in the time of our forefathers.

Translit: Falamma jaahum moosa biayatina bayyinatin qaloo ma hatha illa sihrun muftaran wama samiAAna bihatha fee abaina alawwaleena

Translation:

But when the Truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why has he not been given the same which was given to Moses?" Have they not rejected that which had been given to Moses before? They said, "Both are works of magic, which assist each other." And they said, "We believe in neither."

Translit: Falamma jaahumu alhaqqu min AAindina qaloo lawla ootiya mithla ma ootiya moosa awalam yakfuroo bima ootiya moosa min qablu qaloo sihrani tathahara waqaloo inna bikullin kafiroona

and when it is recited to them, they say, "We have believed in it: this is indeed the Truth from our Lord: we were Muslims even before this."

Translit: Waitha yutla AAalayhim qaloo amanna bihi innahu alhaqqu min rabbina inna kunna min qablihi muslimeena

And when they heard vain talk, they withdrew from it, saying, "Our deeds are for us and your deeds are for you: peace be on you: we do not seek the way of the ignorant."

Translit: Waitha samiAAoo allaghwa aAAradoo AAanhu waqaloo lana aAAmaluna walakum aAAmalukum salamun AAalaykum la nabtaghee aljahileena

Is it not a fact that We have made a safe Sanctuary a dwelling place for them, to which fruits of every kind are drawn, as a provision from Ourself? But most of them do not know this.

Translit: Waqaloo in nattabiAAi alhuda maAAaka nutakhattaf min ardina awalam numakkin lahum haraman aminan yujba ilayhi thamaratu kulli shayin rizqan min ladunna walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona

Then the only answer his people gave was to say, "Kill him or burn him." At last, Allah saved him from the fire; surely in this there are Signs for those who believe.

What! Do you go to the males, and commit robbery and indulge in indecencies in your assemblies?" Then the only answer his people gave was to say, "Bring forth the torment of Allah if you are truthful."

Translit: Ainnakum latatoona alrrijala wataqtaAAoona alssabeela watatoona fee nadeekumu almunkara fama kana jawaba qawmihi illa an qaloo itina biAAathabi Allahi in kunta mina alssadiqeena

And when Our messengers came to Abraham with the good news, they said to him, "We are going to destroy the people of this habitation, for its people have become very wicked."

Translit: Walamma jaat rusuluna ibraheema bialbushra qaloo inna muhlikoo ahli hathihi alqaryati inna ahlaha kanoo thalimeena

Translation:

Abraham said, "Lot is there." They replied, "We know full well who is in it we shall save him and all his household except his wife." His wife was of those who remained behind.

Translit: Qala inna feeha lootan qaloo nahnu aAAlamu biman feeha lanunajjiyannahu waahlahu illa imraatahu kanat mina alghabireena

Then, when Our messengers came to Lot, he grew anxious for them and distressed at heart. They said, "Do not fear nor grieve: we shall save you and your household, except your wife, who is of those who will remain behind.

Translit: Walamma an jaat rusuluna lootan seea bihim wadaqa bihim tharAAan waqaloo la takhaf wala tahzan inna munajjooka waahlaka illa imraataka kanat mina alghabireena

Translation:

They say, "Why have Signs not been sent down upon this person from his Lord?" Say, "The Signs are with Allah: I am only a plain warner."

Translit: Waqaloo lawla onzila AAalayhi ayatun min rabbihi qul innama alayatu AAinda Allahi wainnama ana natheerun mubeenun

And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allah has sent down," they say, "We shall only follow that upon which we found our forefathers." What! Will they still be following them even if Satan had been calling them to the raging Fire?

Translit: Waitha qeela lahumu ittabiAAoo ma anzala Allahu qaloo bal nattabiAAu ma wajadna AAalayhi abaana awalaw kana alshshaytanu yadAAoohum ila AAathabi alssaAAeeri

And the people say, "When we have become dust, shall we be created again?" The fact is that they disbelieve in the meeting with their Lord. "

Translit: Waqaloo aitha dalalna fee alardi ainna lafee khalqin jadeedin bal hum biliqai rabbihim kafiroona

Translation:

And when the true believers (at that time) saw the invading hosts, they cried out, "This is what Allah and His Messenger had promised us: Allah and His Messenger were absolutely true." This increased them all the more in faith and resignation.

Translit: Walamma raa almuminoona alahzaba qaloo hatha ma waAAadana Allahu warasooluhu wasadaqa Allahu warasooluhu wama zadahum illa eemanan watasleeman

O you who have believed, do not be like those who had realigned Moses; then Allah cleared him of what they said of him, and he was honorable in the sight of Allah.

Translit: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la takoonoo kaallatheena athaw moosa fabarraahu Allahu mimma qaloo wakana AAinda Allahi wajeehan

Translation:

But they said, "Our Lord, make our journeys longer." They wronged their own selves. Consequently, We made them mere legends and scattered them utterly. Surely there are Signs in this for every patient and grateful person.

Translit: Faqaloo rabbana baAAid bayna asfarina wathalamoo anfusahum fajaAAalnahum ahadeetha wamazzaqnahum kulla mumazzaqin inna fee thalika laayatin likulli sabbarin shakoorin

Translation:

And no intercession before Allah can avail anyone except for the one for whom Allah permits it. So much so that when dread is gone from their hearts, the people will ask (the intercessors), "What reply did your Lord give?" They will say, '`The right reply! And He is the Exalted, the Great!"

Translit: Wala tanfaAAu alshshafaAAatu AAindahu illa liman athina lahu hatta itha fuzziAAa AAan quloobihim qaloo matha qala rabbukum qaloo alhaqqa wahuwa alAAaliyyu alkabeeru

They always said this: "We have more wealth and children than you, and we shall never be punished."

Translit: Waqaloo nahnu aktharu amwalan waawladan wama nahnu bimuAAaththabeena

When Our clear Revelations are recited to these people, they say, "This person only wants to turn you away from those deities whom your forefathers have been worshiping." And they say, "This (Qur'an) is only a forged falsehood." When the Truth came before these disbelievers, they said, "This is plain magic,"

Translit: Waitha tutla AAalayhim ayatuna bayyinatin qaloo ma hatha illa rajulun yureedu an yasuddakum AAamma kana yaAAbudu abaokum waqaloo ma hatha illa ifkun muftaran waqala allatheena kafaroo lilhaqqi lamma jaahum in hatha illa sihrun mubeenun

Then they will say, "We believe in it," whereas they cannot attain a thing gone far out of hand.

Translit: Waqaloo amanna bihi waanna lahumu alttanawushu min makanin baAAeedin

They will say, "Praise be unto Allah Who has removed sorrow from us. Surely, our Lord is Forgiving and Bounteous,

We sent to them two Messengers and they denied both. Then. We sent a third one to strengthen them, and they all said, "We have been sent to you as Messengers."

Translit: Ith arsalna ilayhimu ithnayni fakaththaboohuma faAAazzazna bithalithin faqaloo inna ilaykum mursaloona

and say, "This is plain magic.

Then they will say, "Woe to us! This is the Day of Requital."

And they say; "Our Lord, hasten to us our share even before the Day of Reckoning."

When they came before David, he was alarmed to see them. They said, "Have no fear: we are two parties in a suit, one of which has wronged the other, so decide between us rightly: do not be unjust and guide us to the right way.

Translit: Ith dakhaloo AAala dawooda fafaziAAa minhum qaloo la takhaf khasmani bagha baAAduna AAala baAAdin faohkum baynana bialhaqqi wala tushtit waihdina ila sawai alssirati

And they will say to one another, "How is it that we do not see those whom we regarded as bad people in the world?

Translit: Waqaloo ma lana la nara rijalan kunna naAAudduhum mina alashrari

Translation:

(After this Judgment) those who had disbelieved, shall be driven towards Hell, in groups, till, when they have reached there, its gates will be opened, and its keepers will say to them, "Did not Messengers come to you from among yourselves, who recited to you the Revelations of your Lord, and warned you that you shall have to encounter this Day?" They will reply, "Yes, they did come, but the sentence of punishment proved true against the disbelievers."

Translit: Waseeqa allatheena kafaroo ila jahannama zumaran hatta itha jaooha futihat abwabuha waqala lahum khazanatuha alam yatikum rusulun minkum yatloona AAalaykum ayati rabbikum wayunthiroonakum liqaa yawmikum hatha qaloo bala walakin haqqat kalimatu alAAathabi AAala alkafireena

And they will say, "Praise is for Allah, Who has proved true to us His promise and made us heirs of the earth. Now we can dwell in Paradise wherever we like. How excellent a reward for the virtuous!

Translit: Waqaloo alhamdu lillahi allathee sadaqana waAAdahu waawrathana alarda natabawwao mina aljannati haythu nashao faniAAma ajru alAAamileena

Translation:

to Pharaoh and Haman and Korah, but they said, "He is a sorcerer, a liar."

Translit: Ila firAAawna wahamana waqaroona faqaloo sahirun kaththabun

Translation:

Then, when he brought them the truth from Ourself, they said, "Kill the sons of those who have believed and joined him and spare their daughters." But the disbelievers plot ended in vain.

Translit: Falamma jaahum bialhaqqi min AAindina qaloo oqtuloo abnaa allatheena amanoo maAAahu waistahyoo nisaahum wama kaydu alkafireena illa fee dalalin

Translation:

They will ask, "Did not your Messengers come to you with clear Signs?" They will say, "Yes." The keepers of Hell will say, "Then pray (for help) yourselves. But the prayer of the disbelievers only ends in vain."

Translit: Qaloo awalam taku tateekum rusulukum bialbayyinati qaloo bala qaloo faodAAoo wama duAAao alkafireena illa fee dalalin

Translation:

They will answer, "They have been lost to us; nay, we did not call upon anything before this." Thus will Allah establish the deviation of the disbelievers.

Translit: Min dooni Allahi qaloo dalloo AAanna bal lam nakun nadAAoo min qablu shayan kathalika yudillu Allahu alkafireena

When they saw Our scourge, they cried out, "We now believe in Allah, the One, and we reject all those gods whom we used to associate with Him."

Translit: Falamma raaw basana qaloo amanna biAllahi wahdahu wakafarna bima kunna bihi mushrikeena

They say, "Our hearts are covered with veils from that to which you are calling us. Our ears have become deaf, and between. us and you there is a curtain. So do as you please; we shall do as we will."

Translit: Waqaloo quloobuna fee akinnatin mimma tadAAoona ilayhi wafee athanina waqrun wamin baynina wabaynika hijabun faiAAmal innana AAamiloona

When the Messengers of God came to them from every side, from front and from behind, saying, "Worship none but Allah" , they said, "Had our Lord so willed, He would have sent down angels; therefore, we deny what you have been sent with."

Translit: Ith jaathumu alrrusulu min bayni aydeehim wamin khalfihim alla taAAbudoo illa Allaha qaloo law shaa rabbuna laanzala malaikatan fainna bima orsiltum bihi kafiroona

Translation:

As for the 'Ad, they became arrogant with pride in the land without any right, and said, "Who is stronger than us in might?" Did they not see that God, Who had created them, is stronger than they in might? Yet they continued to deny Our Revelations.

Translit: Faamma AAadun faistakbaroo fee alardi bighayri alhaqqi waqaloo man ashaddu minna quwwatan awalam yaraw anna Allaha allathee khalaqahum huwa ashaddu minhum quwwatan wakanoo biayatina yajhadoona

Translation:

They will say to their skins. "Why have you borne witness against us?" They will reply, "The same God Who has given speech to everything has given us speech. He it is, Who created you in the first instance, and now to Him you are being brought back.

Translit: Waqaloo lijuloodihim lima shahidtum AAalayna qaloo antaqana Allahu allathee antaqa kulla shayin wahuwa khalaqakum awwala marratin wailayhi turjaAAoona

Those who said, "Allah is our Lord," and then stood steadfast, angels descend on them and say, "Fear not nor grieve, and rejoice in the good news of Paradise that has been promised to you:

Translit: Inna allatheena qaloo rabbuna Allahu thumma istaqamoo tatanazzalu AAalayhimu almalaikatu alla takhafoo wala tahzanoo waabshiroo bialjannati allatee kuntum tooAAadoona

Translation:

To Allah is remitted the knowledge of the Hour. He alone knows all the fruits that come out from their sheaths: He alone knows which female has conceived and which has given birth. Then on the Day when He will call out to the people, asking, "Where are those associates of Mine"? they will say, "We have submitted: there is none of us to bear witness to that."

Translit: Ilayhi yuraddu AAilmu alssaAAati wama takhruju min thamaratin min akmamiha wama tahmilu min ontha wala tadaAAu illa biAAilmihi wayawma yunadeehim ayna shurakaee qaloo athannaka ma minna min shaheedin

Translation:

They say, "Had the Merciful God willed (that we should not worship them), We would never have worshiped them." They do not at all know the fact of the matter: they only conjecture.

Translit: Waqaloo law shaa alrrahmanu ma AAabadnahum ma lahum bithalika min AAilmin in hum illa yakhrusoona

Nay! but they say, "We found our forefathers on a way and we are only walking in their footsteps."

Translit: Bal qaloo inna wajadna abaana AAala ommatin wainna AAala atharihim muhtadoona

Every Prophet asked them,â€ Will you still go on following the same old way even if I guide you to a more right way than that you found your forefathers following?" They replied, "We disbelieve the religion with which you have been sent."

Translit: Qala awalaw jitukum biahda mimma wajadtum AAalayhi abaakum qaloo inna bima orsiltum bihi kafiroona

But when the Truth came to them, they said, "This is a sorcery and we refuse to believe in it."

They say, "Why was not this Qur'an sent down to one of the great men from the two cities?"

Translit: Waqaloo lawla nuzzila hatha alquranu AAala rajulin mina alqaryatayni AAatheemun

Translation:

They say, "Life is only this worldly life of ours. Here we shall die and live and nothing but the change of time destroys us." In fact, they have no knowledge concerning this. They merely guess.

Translit: Waqaloo ma hiya illa hayatuna alddunya namootu wanahya wama yuhlikuna illa alddahru wama lahum bithalika min AAilmin in hum illa yathunnoona

And when Our clear Revelations are recited to them, their only argument is that they say, "Bring back our forefathers if you are truthful."

Translit: Waitha tutla AAalayhim ayatuna bayyinatin ma kana hujjatahum illa an qaloo itoo biabaina in kuntum sadiqeena

Translation:

The desert Arabs say, "We have believed." Say to them, "You have not believed: rather say, â€œWe have submitted.â€ Faith has not yet entered your hearts. If you adopt obedience to Allah and His Messenger, He will not diminish anything from the reward of your works." Surely, Allah is All-Forgiving, All-Merciful.
