Translation:

(Remember that) We caused the cloud to overshadow you and provided you with72 manna and salva73 for your food, saying, "Eat of the clean and pure things We have bestowed upon you" (In spite of this, your forefathers violated Our commands:) however, they did not harm Us but harmed only themselves.

Translit: Wathallalna AAalaykumu alghamama waanzalna AAalaykumu almanna waalssalwa kuloo min tayyibati ma razaqnakum wama thalamoona walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona

Translation:

When you have divorced your wives absolutely and they have completed their prescribed term, then you should not prevent them from marrying their prospective husbands, if they mutually agree to marry each other in a lawful way. You are enjoined not to commit such an offence,if you sincerely believe in Allah and the Last Day. It is most decent and pure for you to desist from this; Allah knows and you do not know.

And leave alone those who have taken their faith as a sport and pastime and have been deluded by the life of this world; nevertheless, go on admonishing them by reciting the Quran to them lest any person should be seized because of his own deeds, and that too at the time, when there would be no protector, no helper and no intercessor to rescue him from Allah, and when no conceivable amount of ransom would be accepted from him; this is because such people shall be seized in consequence of what they themselves had earned; they shall get boiling water to drink and a painful torment to suffer for their rejection of the Truth.

Translit: Wathari allatheena ittakhathoo deenahum laAAiban walahwan wagharrathumu alhayatu alddunya wathakkir bihi an tubsala nafsun bima kasabat laysa laha min dooni Allahi waliyyun wala shafeeAAun wain taAAdil kulla AAadlin la yukhath minha olaika allatheena obsiloo bima kasaboo lahum sharabun min hameemin waAAathabun aleemun bima kanoo yakfuroona

And refrain from open sins as well as secret sins: surely those who earn sin shall get the recompense of what they have earned.

And We had divided them into twelve clams and made them distinct Communities. When his people asked him tar water. We inspired Moses to strike a certain rack with his staff. Consequently, twelve springs gushed forth from it and each community specified its drinking place: We caused the cloud to cast shadow over them, and We sent down manna and salva for their food. saying. "Eat of the clean and pure things We have provided for you." However, by doing what they did afterwards, they did no wrong to Us but they wronged themselves.

Translit: WaqattaAAnahumu ithnatay AAashrata asbatan omaman waawhayna ila moosa ithi istasqahu qawmuhu ani idrib biAAasaka alhajara fainbajasat minhu ithnata AAashrata AAaynan qad AAalima kullu onasin mashrabahum wathallalna AAalayhimu alghamama waanzalna AAalayhimu almanna waalssalwa kuloo min tayyibati ma razaqnakum wama thalamoona walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona

Do they also remember the time when We shook the Mountain and spread over them as though it were an umbrella, and they thought that it was going to fall upon them; (then We said to them), "Hold fast the Book We are giving you, and keep in mind what it contains: it is expected that you will refrain from wrong ways."

This is a public proclamation from Allah and His Messenger for all the people on the Day of Great Haj: Allah is free from the treaty obligations made with the mushriks and so is His Messenger. If, therefore, you repent now, it is better for you but if you turn away, you should know it well that you cannot frustrate (the Will of) Allah. And, O Prophet, give the good news of a painful chastisement to the rejecters

Translation:

Then Allah sent down His sakinat (peace and tranquility) upon His Messenger and the Believers and sent (to your aid) forces which you could not see and chastised those who denied the Truth: for this is the due recompense of those who deny the Truth.

Translit: Thumma anzala Allahu sakeenatahu AAala rasoolihi waAAala almumineena waanzala junoodan lam tarawha waAAaththaba allatheena kafaroo wathalika jazao alkafireena

Even before this, these people had striven to stir up mischief and turn by turn they practiced all sorts of devices to make you unsuccessful, until the Truth prevailed and Allahs design was fulfilled, though they were averse to it.

Translit: Laqadi ibtaghawoo alfitnata min qablu waqallaboo laka alomoora hatta jaa alhaqqu wathahara amru Allahi wahum karihoona

Has not the story reached them of those who had gone before them-the people of Noah, tribes of `Ad and Thamud, the people of Abraham and the inhabitants of Midian and of the overturned cities? Their Messengers came to them with clear signs; then it was not Allah Who would wrong them, but they wronged their own selves.

Translit: Alam yatihim nabao allatheena min qablihim qawmi noohin waAAadin wathamooda waqawmi ibraheema waashabi madyana waalmutafikati atathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati fama kana Allahu liyathlimahum walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona

Translation:

Indeed Allah has bought from the Believers their persons and their possessions in return for the Gardens;106 they fight in the Way of Allah, kill and are killed. This promise (of the Gardens) is the true pledge of Allah made in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran, and who is more true in fulfilling his promise than Allah? So rejoice in the bargain you have made with Him; and this is the greatest success.

Translit: Inna Allaha ishtara mina almumineena anfusahum waamwalahum bianna lahumu aljannata yuqatiloona fee sabeeli Allahi fayaqtuloona wayuqtaloona waAAdan AAalayhi haqqan fee alttawrati waalinjeeli waalqurani waman awfa biAAahdihi mina Allahi faistabshiroo bibayAAikumu allathee bayaAAtum bihi wathalika huwa alfawzu alAAatheemu

Translation:

And Allah has forgiven the Three whose case had been put off. When the earth with all its vastness seemed to have become narrow for them, and their own souls were a burden on them, and they realized that there was no refuge for them except in the mercy of Allah Himself, Allah turned to them with kindness so that they should turn to Him. Surely, He is Forgiving and Compassionate.

Translit: WaAAala alththalathati allatheena khullifoo hatta itha daqat AAalayhimu alardu bima rahubat wadaqat AAalayhim anfusuhum wathannoo an la maljaa mina Allahi illa ilayhi thumma taba AAalayhim liyatooboo inna Allaha huwa alttawwabu alrraheemu

Translation:

It is Allah Who enables you to travel over land and by sea. So you set sails in ships, rejoicing over a fair breeze. Then all of a sudden a strong wind begins to rage against the passengers and billows begin to surge upon them from every side and they realize that they have been encircled by the tempest. At that time they pray to Allah with sincere faith, saying, "If You deliver us from this peril, we will become Your grateful servants."

Translit: Huwa allathee yusayyirukum fee albarri waalbahri hatta itha kuntum fee alfulki wajarayna bihim bireehin tayyibatin wafarihoo biha jaatha reehun AAasifun wajaahumu almawju min kulli makanin wathannoo annahum oheeta bihim daAAawoo Allaha mukhliseena lahu alddeena lain anjaytana min hathihi lanakoonanna mina alshshakireena

Translation:

This worldly life (which has so enamored you that you have become neglectful of Our Signs) may be likened to the produce of the earth: We sent rain-water from the sky, and the crops of which man and animals eat, grew up luxuriantly. Then at that very time, when the land was at its best, and the crops had ripened and decked out and the owners were presuming that they would be able to benefit from them, Our Command came all of a sudden by night or by day, and We destroyed it so thoroughly as though nothing had existed there the previous day. Thus We expound Our Signs in detail for the consideration of those people who are thoughtful.

Translit: Innama mathalu alhayati alddunya kamain anzalnahu mina alssamai faikhtalata bihi nabatu alardi mimma yakulu alnnasu waalanAAamu hatta itha akhathati alardu zukhrufaha waizzayyanat wathanna ahluha annahum qadiroona AAalayha ataha amruna laylan aw naharan fajaAAalnaha haseedan kaan lam taghna bialamsi kathalika nufassilu alayati liqawmin yatafakkaroona

In fact, there is a Sign in this for everyone who dreads the Torment of the Hereafter: that will be the Day when all the people shall gather together and will witness everything that will happen there.

Translit: Inna fee thalika laayatan liman khafa AAathaba alakhirati thalika yawmun majmooAAun lahu alnnasu wathalika yawmun mashhoodun

(It also happened like this with the former Messengers: they went on conveying the Message for a long time- but the people did not listen to them,) till the Messengers despaired of the people and the people also thought that a falsehood had been presented to them: then suddenly Our succor reached the Messengers. And when such an occasion comes, We deliver whomsoever We will, but Our scourge cannot be averted from the criminals.

Translit: Hatta itha istayasa alrrusulu wathannoo annahum qad kuthiboo jaahum nasruna fanujjiya man nashao wala yuraddu basuna AAani alqawmi almujrimeena

We sent Moses also before this with Our Signs: and We commanded him, "Bring your people out of all kinds of darkness into Light and admonish, them to learn lessons from the Divine History." There are great Signs in this for every steadfast and grateful person.

Translit: Walaqad arsalna moosa biayatina an akhrij qawmaka mina alththulumati ila alnnoori wathakkirhum biayyami Allahi inna fee thalika laayatin likulli sabbarin shakoorin

Has not the story reached you of those who have gone before you of the people of Noah and Ad and Thamud, and of those who came after them? Allah alone knows their number. When their Messengers came to them with plain teachings and manifest Signs, they thrust their hands into their mouths, saying, "We reject the Message with which you have been sent and we have a disquieting doubt about that thing to which you are inviting us."

Translit: Alam yatikum nabao allatheena min qablikum qawmi noohin waAAadin wathamooda waallatheena min baAAdihim la yaAAlamuhum illa Allahu jaathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati faraddoo aydiyahum fee afwahihim waqaloo inna kafarna bima orsiltum bihi wainna lafee shakkin mimma tadAAoonana ilayhi mureebun

Translation:

If you had seen them, it would have appeared to you as if they were awake, whereas in fact they were asleep. We turned them about to the right and the left sides. And their dog was sitting at the entrance of the Cave with outstretched forelegs. If you had looked at them, you would have turned on your heels and their sight would have struck you with terror.

Translit: Watahsabuhum ayqathan wahum ruqoodun wanuqallibuhum thata alyameeni wathata alshshimali wakalbuhum basitun thiraAAayhi bialwaseedi lawi ittalaAAta AAalayhim lawallayta minhum firaran walamulita minhum ruAAban

Some people will say, "They were three and the fourth was their dog,â€ and some others will say, "They were five and the sixth was their dog.â€ These are mere irrelevant guesses. There are still others who say, "They were seven and the eighth was their dog.â€ Say, "My Lord alone knows best how many they were." "There are a few people only who know their correct number: so you should not enter into discussions with them about their number except in a cursory way: nor ask anyone about them

Translit: Sayaqooloona thalathatun rabiAAuhum kalbuhum wayaqooloona khamsatun sadisuhum kalbuhum rajman bialghaybi wayaqooloona sabAAatun wathaminuhum kalbuhum qul rabbee aAAlamu biAAiddatihim ma yaAAlamuhum illa qaleelun fala tumari feehim illa miraan thahiran wala tastafti feehim minhum ahadan

hey will dwell for ever in the evergreen Gardens beneath which canals flow. Such is the reward of the one who adopts purity.

And the same blessing was bestowed upon Ismael and Idris80 and Zul-Kifl, because they all practiced fortitude.

And We showed a favor to Zun-nun (Jonah) Remember when he went away in anger for he thought that We would not take him to task for this. But afterwards he invoked Us from the depths of darkness, saying, "There is no God but Thou: glory be to Thee: I had indeed committed a wrong".

O Prophet, if they treat you as false, (you should remember that) before them the people of Noah, and the tribes of Ad and Thamud,

O Believers, do not consider the summoning by the Messenger like the summoning among you by one another. Allah knows well those of you who steal away, concealing themselves behind others. Let those who disobey the order of the Messenger beware lest they should be involved in some affliction, or are visited by a woeful scourge.

Translit: La tajAAaloo duAAaa alrrasooli baynakum kaduAAai baAAdikum baAAdan qad yaAAlamu Allahu allatheena yatasallaloona minkum liwathan falyahthari allatheena yukhalifoona AAan amrihi an tuseebahum fitnatun aw yuseebahum AAathabun aleemun

Likewise were destroyed the `Ad and the Thamud and the people of the Rass, and many a generation in between.

Translit: WaAAadan wathamooda waashaba alrrassi waquroonan bayna thalika katheeran

Translation:

save those who believed and did good works and remembered Allah much, and when they were treated unjustly, they only defended themselves (and did not show vindictiveness). And the iniquitous people will soon come to know what punishment awaits them.

He and his hosts assumed haughtiness in the land unjustly, without any right, and they thought they had never to return to Us.

And We destroyed `Ad and Thamud. You have seen the places where they lived. Satan made their deeds seem fair to them and misled them from the right path, although they were sensible people.

Translit: WaAAadan wathamooda waqad tabayyana lakum min masakinihim wazayyana lahumu alshshaytanu aAAmalahum fasaddahum AAani alssabeeli wakanoo mustabsireena

And have they never traveled in the earth that they could see the end of those who have gone before them? They were mightier than these in strength: they tilled the land and built more on it than these people have. Their Messengers came to them with clear Signs. then it was not Allah Who was unjust to them, but it was they who were being unjust to themselves.

Translit: Awalam yaseeroo fee alardi fayanthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu allatheena min qablihim kanoo ashadda minhum quwwatan waatharoo alarda waAAamarooha akthara mimma AAamarooha wajaathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati fama kana Allahu liyathlimahum walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona

There was indeed the best model for you in the Messenger of Allah, for every such person who looks forward to Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much.

Translit: Laqad kana lakum fee rasooli Allahi oswatun hasanatun liman kana yarjoo Allaha waalyawma alakhira wathakara Allaha katheeran

Translation:

But they said, "Our Lord, make our journeys longer." They wronged their own selves. Consequently, We made them mere legends and scattered them utterly. Surely there are Signs in this for every patient and grateful person.

Translit: Faqaloo rabbana baAAid bayna asfarina wathalamoo anfusahum fajaAAalnahum ahadeetha wamazzaqnahum kulla mumazzaqin inna fee thalika laayatin likulli sabbarin shakoorin

We shall certainly one day raise the dead to life. We are recording all the deeds they have done and also that which they have left behind. We have preserved everything in an open Book.

David replied, "This person has certainly wronged you in demanding your ewe to be added to his ewes. And the fact is that the people who live together often wrong one another; the only exception are those who believe and do good works, and they are few. " (While he said this) David realized that We had, in fact, tried him. So he asked forgiveness of his Lord and fell down prostrate and turned (to Him).

And make mention of Ishmael and Elisha and Dhul-Kifl. They were all of the righteous.

Translit: Waothkur ismaAAeela wailyasaAAa watha alkifli wakullun mina alakhyari

And deliver them from evils, for whomever You delivered from evils on the Day of Resurrection, to him You showed great mercy. This is indeed the supreme success."

Have they never traveled in the land that they could see the end of those who have gone before them? They were stronger than they in power and have left mightier traces in the land, but Allah seized them because of their sins and there was none to save them from Allah.

Translit: Awa lam yaseeroo fee alardi fayanthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu allatheena kanoo min qablihim kanoo hum ashadda minhum quwwatan waatharan fee alardi faakhathahumu Allahu bithunoobihim wama kana lahum mina Allahi min waqin

a day that overtook the people of Noah and `Ad and Thamud and the peoples after them. And the fact is that Allah does not seek to wrong His servants.

Well, have they not traveled in the earth that they could see the fate of those who have gone before them? They were more in number and stronger-in might and have left behind greater traces of their power in the land; yet what they earned did not avail them anything.

Now if they turn away, say to them, "I warn you of a thunderbolt of punishment the like of which had descended upon the 'Ad and the Thamud.

At that time, all those gods whom they used to invoke before this, shall be lost to them, and they will realize that they have no refuge.

Then, why did not those beings help them whom they had made their gods instead of Allah, and regarded them as a means of attaining nearness to Him? Nay, they were lost from them: and this was the end of their lies and their false beliefs that they had invented.

Translit: Falawla nasarahumu allatheena ittakhathoo min dooni Allahi qurbanan alihatan bal dalloo AAanhum wathalika ifkuhum wama kanoo yaftaroona

Therefore, when you meet the disbelievers in the battle-field, first smite their necks. Then, when you have crushed them completely, bind the prisoners tight. After that (you have the choice) whether you show them favor or accept ransom, until the war lays down its arms. So shall you do. Had Allah willed, He would Himself have dealt with them. But (He has adopted this way so that) He may test some of you by means of others. And those who are killed in the way of Allah, Allah will never let their deeds go waste.

Translit: Faitha laqeetumu allatheena kafaroo fadarba alrriqabi hatta itha athkhantumoohum fashuddoo alwathaqa faimma mannan baAAdu waimma fidaan hatta tadaAAa alharbu awzaraha thalika walaw yashao Allahu laintasara minhum walakin liyabluwa baAAdakum bibaAAdin waallatheena qutiloo fee sabeeli Allahi falan yudilla aAAmalahum

(But the real thing is not what you say) Nay, you rather thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families and this fancy delighted your hearts and you harbored evil thoughts and you are a people, most wicked."

On that Day the hypocrites, men and women, will say to the believers, "Look towards us awhile so that we may benefit by your light." But it will be said to them, "Go away, seek your light elsewhere." Then a well shall be set up between them with a gate in it. Within the gate shall be mercy and outside of it torment.

Translit: Yawma yaqoolu almunafiqoona waalmunafiqatu lillatheena amanoo onthuroona naqtabis min noorikum qeela irjiAAoo waraakum failtamisoo nooran faduriba baynahum bisoorin lahu babun batinuhu feehi alrrahmatu wathahiruhu min qibalihi alAAathabu

Translation:

Satan has overpowered them and has caused them to forget God's remembrance. They are of Satan's party. Know it well that those of Satan's party indeed are the real losers.

Translit: Istahwatha AAalayhimu alshshaytanu faansahum thikra Allahi olaika hizbu alshshaytani ala inna hizba alshshaytani humu alkhasiroona

He it is Who drove the disbelievers from among the people of the Book out of their houses at the very first assault. You did not think that they would ever go out, and they too on their part were thinking that their fortresses would protect them from Allah, but Allah came upon them whence they had little expected. He cast terror into their hearts with the result that they were destroying their dwellings by their own hands as well as by the hands of the believers. So, take heed, O you who have eyes to see!

Translit: Huwa allathee akhraja allatheena kafaroo min ahli alkitabi min diyarihim liawwali alhashri ma thanantum an yakhrujoo wathannoo annahum maniAAatuhum husoonuhum mina Allahi faatahumu Allahu min haythu lam yahtasiboo waqathafa fee quloobihimu alrruAAba yukhriboona buyootahum biaydeehim waaydee almumineena faiAAtabiroo ya olee alabsari

The end of both will be that they shall go to Hell for ever, and that is the recompense of the wrongdoers.

Translit: Fakana AAaqibatahuma annahuma fee alnnari khalidayni feeha wathalika jazao alththalimeena

He only forbids you to take for friends those who fought you in the matter of religion, and drove you out of your homes, and cooperated with others in your expulsion. Those who take them for friends are indeed the wrongdoers.

Translit: Innama yanhakumu Allahu AAani allatheena qatalookum fee alddeeni waakhrajookum min diyarikum wathaharoo AAala ikhrajikum an tawallawhum waman yatawallahum faolaika humu alththalimoona

O you who have believed, when the call is made to the Prayer on Friday, hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave off your trading. This is better for you only if you knew.

The disbelievers assert that they shall never be raised up from death. Say to them, "Nay, by my Lord! You shall certainly be raised up. Then certainly you shall be told what you have done (in the world), and this is an easy thing for Allah to do."

Allah imposed it on them for seven nights and eight days continuously. (Had you been there) you would have seen them lying prostrate as though they were hollow trunks of palm trees.
